A must read for anyone looking to create a business that will be 'successful' in any sense of the words... Books like this come along once in a lifetime. And if the sequel to Good to Great will be any indication, its come along twice in a lifetime. (No, I have not yet read 'Built to Last', its the next book on my 'TODO' list) I remember back in high-school, I would try to read various business oriented books. It wouldn't work, they where so dry and boring that they ended up in the bottom of my locker, or bag racking up over-due charges, until I decided I needed something to read, and it was in the school library... So after promising to return these books a million times... Jim Collins is back with the prequel to his book 'Built to Last'. The book Good to Great took over 5 years and a large research team to gather the data for. The book is surprisingly easy to read, and compares Good to Great companies to Good companies, and Good to Flop companies. For someone such as myself who dreams of building a large successful business, Good to Great was a terrific experience to read, shedding light on many facts of leadership of companies I would emulate. Good to Great was a surprisingly light read, books similar have taken over 3 weeks to suffer through, I personally completed this book in just under 9 days. I would recommend this book to anyone who dreams of having their own successful business. Public or private, this book might well become the 'bible' of the successful business.
