got mine 2 years ago as a barn find, repaired replaced what needed at reasonable cost, as long as you warm it up thoroughly and use good quality oil you should have no problems, does just over 100mph which compared to my 4 stroke 125 is rediculous. For an almost 30 year old bike it makes me smile every time it fires up and in red and white new paint/decals i think it even still looks the part. if you can get a running one reasonable at a price grab it. i fitted the powervalve servo but to be honest just pinning the powervalve fully open was more fun to ride.

I think the Yamaha TZR is a very good bike its fast, cheap to tax and insure and cheap to run, does what ever you want it to do very very good bike.

Love it! Had mine four years now and although I've toyed with the idea of getting a bigger smoker I couldn't live without the availability of my little screemer.

Better than the new one, and the parts are cheap.

The Yamaha TZR 125 is a good bike. It is reliable, quick, and is easy to customise. It has a horrible rear light that looks like a brick at the front, but newer models have changed that and look better.

I bought a TZR last year for 800 quid. Its a wicked little bike, I'm 16 stone and it will still perform well. Parts are easily available and decent bike shops will still get what you need if you wanna tune it a bit. I was gonna get rid of mine as I also bought an ajs dd125 eos but can't bring myself to sell. My advice to anyone that gets one is keep it, spend some cash on it and youve got one hell of a 125 for not a lot of wedge.

I bought mine from eBay in Feb 2007 and I had to have the engine rebuilt and it has had various other problems. Finally got it all sorted and just finished running the engine in, no power valve so had the valve pushed back in to restrict it to 12BHP. In a head wind it was showing 82 - 85MPH with still more throttle left and the revs were around 8,500.
Looking for a power valve kit but this is proving difficult.
A really fun bike, quick, would recommend to any learner but be careful buying from Ebay. People use it to get shot of ropey bikes, your cheap £400 bike could cost you much much more. Also the bike shops seem to like ripping off inexperienced bikers.

Hello. I've just bought a Yamaha TZR 125, and I was wondering what your top speed is? I've bought mine secondhand, and it has been tuned, but i don't know what it did originally, if you get what I am saying.
<br>Cheers. Luke.
