Over two years this Humax PVR-9200T machine has been reliable, and has a good specification. In fact, so good, that we seem to have moved over to always watching a recording than live. The software in the Humax PVR-9200T recorder has a few bugs that shouldn't have got into the first version, never mind persisting after updates. Two that sometimes drive me nuts is the way that if padding before or after a programme requires the recorder to make three recordings (which isn't possible), it doesn't warn you, it simply truncates one recording.
And if you have two recordings adjacent for the same channel, a significant gap at change over occurs which causes lose of material.
And now after the most recent software date the responsiveness of the recorder is much reduced. Which leads onto the main problem with Humax - their very poor level of customer support! Might buy another humax, but for the customer support!

Have lost all my recorded programmes on my Humax PVR on at least three occasions when the system freezes and was forced to reformat the drive to continue. It has also frozen on a few occasions when powering off/on was sufficient to start it again. The latest problem is that it stopped recording both manually and automatically and again I had to reformat the drive to get it recording again. Keep losing the end of programmes as it doesn't track them properly and the 10mins extra isn't enough. To be sure of recording a full programme you need to record the programme coming on afterwards.
Without the 'bad points' I do like the Humax box and it has taught me not to get too het up when I lose recorded programmes.
There are more important things in life!

This is undoubtedly an excellent machine. I live in an area of a weak digital and the PVR9200T delivers a very good quality picture. It could be argued that this is a Rolls Royce among set top boxes. I would have rated it at 10, however read on...
Humax's customer service that I experienced was appalling. My machine still under guarantee crashed. I found it hard to get through to anyone in customer services and I dread my telephone bill when it comes through. This is the only way I can contact anyone at Humax. Emails have yet to be answered, and even a call to their head office failed to deliver results.
After hours of sitting on the phone I did get through to someone who told me that a new machine would arrive in a couple of days and that they would want to take the broken one away. That was two weeks ago. It seems that their warranty department think that Pembrokeshire is close to Norwich. Three attempts have been made to dispatch a machine to me, or so I have been told, only to be returned from Norwich to their warranty department in London. The only people i can get through to are their Customer support people who seem very busy. Short of putting the machine in my car and driving it the 450 miles to London and delivering the machine myself, I am really beginning to wonder when my replacement machine will eventually arrive. I am at my wits end and I really don't know what to do now, because I can't get through to anyone at Humax.
