The USB is recognized as a removeable disk drive to your computer, and can be used to store files and folders, like a USB memory stick, as well as music.

But the USB is prone to virus infections, and, if accessed, could possibly stop the MP3 from working. Fast-forwarding and re-winding is quite awkward, due to the actual speed of the operations being rediculously fast, else this MP3 player is of high quality, and I would recommend it as a music occupation between now, and the time you get an i-pod.
