I've had two versions of this product; one had felt-covered straightening plates and no little guide brushes on the sides, and the other one had the brushes and a star-shaped plate, instead of the felt. Both the star and the felt were pretty much useless. I got both versions at CVS; the second time on clearance. I think the full price was something like $15.
I've used the Conair Shiny Styles Texturizer mainly as a straightener, and I've used it as a crimper a few times. It works fairly well at both for the price. Although I wonder about the effects of using a metal styler over time, and it can also tear at your hair. Another problem is that it's really easy to lose the other plates when you're not using them.
Overall, it is a good product for the price. If you can't afford the more expensive tools, then this is a good buy.

I bought Conair Shiny Styles Texturizer thinking that it would be great. You could crimp your hair in different sizes and straighten it all with one product. Well, my dreams were soon destroyed. The straightening plates didn't work and soon broke. Then the crimp plates stopped working and I burned myself quiet alot. This is a cheap piece of rubbish. DO NOT BUY IT!
