Only when you buy this bike do you get the manual - which states "this bike must be washed and dried after each journey" ... otherwise its condition will deteriorate. And if you don't wash and dry each time, tell them you did, because otherwise your warranty is null and void.
The wheels are untreated and uncoated mag alloy, which corrode. A friend said he also found corrosion in all the small parts of the bike, but I didn't keep mine that long.
When you ocmplain, they don't like it, but persist and you will get your money back.
So, a bike to buy, or a bike to ride???? Insist you see the manual before you buy! Just go into it with your eyes open.

The Triumph Boneville 790 has a poor finish. 2 year old owned from new, used all year round, cleaned every week without fail. corrosion on wheel rims, hubs and most fasteners in general. doesn't like water so when its been cleaned electrics go on the fritz, oil light comes on and indicators don't work properly.
i've seen low mileage ones that are just as bad.

I agree and wish I had done more miles on mine when the warrantee was in force, At 4000 mine died with a reoccurring ignition fault and the dealer had gone bust. Triumph wouldn't honour the warrantee and so I had to learn about Triumph. I threatened to take it to the factory with a big sign on telling everyone what a pile of doo doo it was and was told the only people who will see it are workers and we all know about the Bonneville's faults. After 10 years of trouble every summer it broke killing crank shaft pick up coils and ignition coils it eventually killed the igniter pack, at £500 for a replacement I bought an after market one from a jet ski that I adapted to fit, and a PVL ignition coil, and after 6 crank shaft pick ups in 10 years I replaced it with a custom wound one fro a coil winding company. Then when it was working I sold it and bought a HONDA 750cc that is reliable and a wonderful machine!
DON'T BUY A TRIUMPH, THEY WILL IGNORE YOUR COMPLAINTS LEAVE YOU IN THE COLD AND JUST GIVE YOU CHEAK WHEN YOU RING THEM!
