The George Hotel is a small 10 room hotel located at the back of the resort on the only road in and out of the resort and is therefore subject to a little traffic noise. This did not disturb us much except for three evenings out of 14 when it was used a race track for motor bikes until the early hours of the morning. Our only two real criticisms were the size of the room which even by Greek standards was very small and the cost of the air conditioning which we though was expensive and substantially added to the cost of the holiday.The rooms were very clean and there was a fridge on each floor for the use of guests.Breakfast was simple and kept us going until lunchtime when we either brought a sandwich from the supermarket or had a beer and salad at one of the beach-side tavernas. We tried to do a 50/50 split otherwise the again the cost of lunch ate into our budget.It was a 10 minute steady stroll to the nearest part of the beach. On the the plus side Karen and Stavros really made us feel welcome and the bar in the evening after returning from eating was a very social occasion.again if you wanted an early night you might here a little noise from the bar until about 1 o'clock. It was an Adult only hotel which is one of the reasons we booked it. Despite some shortfalls we thought it was really good value money expect for the additional cost of the air conditioning. we only used it for a maximum of 2 hours a day and would have much rather have paid by a meter for its usage.Overall we did not regret staying here and hope they keep the Adult only policy going in the future as this is one of it main selling points for us.

A family run small and friendly hotel in the resort of Golden Beach in Thassos. Located towards the rear of the resort about a 5 minute stroll from the beach and tavernas. It is typically Greek,fairly basic but comfortable and clean. We were made to feel very welcome and at times were treated more as friends than guests. Breakfast was very simple and did nothing more than fill a small gap. One real plus point was the bar in the evening where many of the guests met up after returning from the meal out, it was quite a community spirit. unfortunately there was no swimming pool here.We enjoyed our holiday here and had no regrets about booking at the George Hotel. Golden Beach itself is fabulous, glorious sands, a good selection of tavernas and very quite and tranquil. Definitely a place for couples rather than families.

Recently returned from thassos. Stayed at the small and friendly George Hotel in Golden Beach. The people who run in, were more like old friends than hoteliers. We felt very welcome, and enjoyed our stay
We will definately go back and stay there again. We realy enjoyed our first visit to thassos.
