Kwaz Muzik Writes: This Is How A Roots Regga

KWAZ MUZIK writes:

This is how a Roots Reggae album should be done. Jah Roots "More Herbs for the Youths" cd offers a few things that you don't find in reggae albums these days. One thing is they give you 17 tracks of music. The other thing is the music has a live sound as opposed to the over produced sounds you hear all the time today.

The album begins with energy that is maintained all the way trough to the end. There is no track skipping with this album. The first three songs are dynamite and allows you to hear how well coordinated the group is. I have to give kudos to the lead singer, percussionist, bassist and drummer because they really do their thing on each track.

"Give Praze" and "Come Wit Me" are great tunes but as for personal favorite the tune "Pleaze" takes my soul. The lead singer shows his passion and versatility here. The instrumentation is awesome in this song as well.

With that said however, don't get lost in the music on this album as there are some familiar riddims used. The lyrics are powerful as Jah Roots covers topics of Rastafari in the here and now.

More herbs for the youth is more knowledge for the youth. Get it and add it to your Marley, Black Uhuru and Mighty Diamonds collection.
