Great Value Friendly Hotel

We went Aug 2011 to the ova resort ,have visited turkey four times now and other than once, have loved it every time ,yet again another great holiday to turkey at the ova .what can i say lets get the negatives out the way first ,sunbeds, poolside music nightmare,to get a sunbed you had to put your towels on them my 2/3 in the morning to get one.music during the day round the pool was so loud you couldn't have a conversation. Now other than the two small moans WOW! what a fantastic holiday, we travelled in a party on 10 6 adults 4 kids age 6,10,12,15.the staff are fantastic friendly helpfull and work very very hard, nothing is to much trouble.the entertainment team work all dayand night leo, monty,Tu tu,were fantastic. .DONT LISTEN TO BAD REVIEWS

Go there and make your own mind up. we read reviews saying the food was rubbish and that it was all chicken. This is wrong yes there is a chicken dish most days but there is fresh fish meatballs, lamb, beef, pasta, the food was fantastic from freshly made omlettes for breakfast to cakes and coffee in the afternoon and wide choice for lunch and dinner .For us the friendly staff hot weather and great food, great company, great location clean and tidy rooms( although small)made this a GREAT HOLIDAY .Would return to the ova again and again .

I loved the Ova Resort hotel. The entertainment was great, it was every single night and it was wonderful. I would definitely recommend this hotel to people of any age. Theres a club for the younger people, the town centre with endless pubs, clubs, shops and bars.

We Have Just Returned After 2 Weeks All Inc At The

We have just returned after 2 weeks all inc at the OVA. We have been to Turkey several times and most of Europe and some of the Caribbean and Africa so feel reasonably qualified to make comments.

I like to have a good read of other peoples comments before I book so I think its only fair to return the favour. I shall stay as impartial and honest as possible and I have no connection with this hotel other than as a paying guest.

ROOM : These are basic and adequate. I heard several different people complain that they were too small and I can see their point. There were 3 of us in 1 room and they simply remove a dressing table and install a fold out guest bed in its place to make the third bed. I thought our room was small but when someone we met there stuck their head in they were shocked at how big it was. God knows how small theirs must have been then. Our air con was very efficient and the shower worked well. The beds and pillows are extremely hard - I like them like this but I did hear some whinging. The balconies are small but at least they have them.

FOOD: Okay I know that a few people go on about how nice the salads were BUT the same every day??? Will someone please buy the chef a new book! There is only so much you can do with a tomato, a lettuce, a carrot and an onion. Despite the OVA being all inclusive our group (and others) did tend to visit off site restaurants towards the end of the two weeks as we were all going stir crazy with the lack of choice of food. Every day there are 14 to 15 platters laid out and I could EASILY tell you what will be on them for the next three months. They do make a sort of baked bread thing in a pizza oven and there is a very limited (4?) hot food choice but take the rice and chips away and it tends to be chicken in a sauce or meatball type choice. Hardly worth the queue. Other reviewers will doubtless say I am being picky BUT when we visited a restaurant in town we recognised at least 20 from the Ova so I think that says it all. Maybe some people are just easily pleased? Breakfast is the same old same old every day. Teatime consists of them ringing a bell at the bar and shouting "Tea Time" while 3 trays of offerings appear at the side of the bar. These tended to be cold pizza slices. They also lay out a bit of VERY dry cake and sometimes dry bread rolls.

As a footnote on the food you will see many people who must only ever see a spread of food when they go on holiday as they pile any offerings precariously high at each and every meal time. They will run backwards and forwards to their tables covering the entire table with a third rate attempt at creating a little banquet and it all looks a little sad really.

The soft drinks that are available while you eat are water (tap), orange cordial and tea / coffee.

You will enjoy the food for the first three days and then probably be like us and others and start to miss the odd meal or eat out.

ENTERTAINMENT: Not bad but pretty predictable. Mini disco at start (pop a CD on and kids dance) then followed by either a belly dancer / folk dancers / bingo / game etc. Nothing you haven't really seen before. The hotel caters for around 500? but they only have around thirty chairs for people to watch the shows. If you don't get one of these you will have to sit on a stone step all night. there is NOT a lounge area to sit and have a relaxing drink and natter at night.

DRINKS : The drinks are basically not nice. The brendy (spelled like that) , Gin, Vodka are more like cordials than a real drink and a few of us visited a local bar to get ourselves a proper drink. We ended up paying £3 a shot for this privilege but their shots are like doubles. I don't drink lager but the ones I spoke to who did said they were drinking literally gallons of the stuff a day on the site and still didn't get tipsy so go figure. There is a plentiful supply of cordial and coke during the day and you never have to wait more than a minute to get served.

THE POOL: We were alright but I did minimise my time in the pool after seeing these sufferers. It appeared clean and I liked the 'relax' pool at the bottom of the site although there is no shallow end if you have kiddies.

Be like me and just move them and then sit back and watch them squirm when they realise they have put themselves in a confrontational situation!

The water slide is open twice and a day and is quite good fun. there is never much of a queue for it.

THE AREA: It is about ten to fifteen minute walk out of the resort centre which has a pretty good selection of shops and bars etc. It is a typical Turkish resort where they all try and banter you into their stores. I have noticed the prices of stuff going up considerably since our last visit. Somebody really needs to tell the them how cheap we can get stuff here now as they think £8 for a poor copy T shirt is a bargain lol.

The jewellery is the same price as the UK (please don't try and tell me its not as we have had all my wife's Turkish made jewellery valued for insurance purposes) and it was the same as the estimate provided for replacement by a UK jewellers.

The best restaurant we found was called Del Boys Acitkim (spelling?) where you couild get a very good steak meal and a drink for a tenner. Everyone we met who went there went back again and again.

The Blue Shangai Chinese restaurant is a nightmare - its like a vesta curry meal.

As someone said earlier on the Jim'll Fix It Bar near the Ova it does overcharge you and you'll get eaten alive by mossies at night.

SUMMARY : You get what you pay for with the OVA. I paid 600 quid a head for two weeks and wasn't expecting luxury for that money. Everything about the place is just acceptable. If you get the holiday for £600 or less then you will probably think you have done OK. If I had paid around the £800 to £900 mark I would have been livid as I could have gone to a real 3 star for that and wouldn't have eaten or drank off site once.

Any of you that have been to a genuine 3 - 4 star all inclusive are going to be disappointed with the food and drinks (big style) but if you have a few kids with you who are constantly swilling soft drinks in the day you will probably get your moneys worth just out of them if you pay sub £600.

Would I go again? Difficult question....... it would have to be really cheap so I could afford to eat out every night.

Hope this helps folks.

Would return here again. Great value for money. Rooms basic but clean and clean towels were provided daily.

Staff were lovely and the meals were great.

There was always soup and rolls, a large variety of salads then at least 3 main courses to choose from and also something on the bbq every night.

I Have Just Returned From Ova Resort (turkey) I Wa

I have just returned from ova resort (Turkey) I was there for 1 week me and my partner.6th - 14th

It is by far over rated ,

Food : Very Repetitive.I am far from a fussy eater but most nights ended up eating out , Most of the meats were tasteless. I would not recommend the food there. They do provide salads and olives and also Turkish afters. We had kebab 1 night that was gorgeous but everything else was disappointing.

Hotel Rooms

Small rooms but good value for money the only faults I have would be having to put your tissues in the bin after using the loo, also a lot of ant's.

Alcoholic drinks

Watered down completely.

Staff

Were friendly but can be very annoying throwing water on you etc when your trying to relax by the pool.

Thomas cook

Flight was horrible left at 12am boarded plane 3.50am reached London 6am long queue's and Thomas cook were not that much help.

Hisronu area.

Most people very friendly but in the markets very aggressive.

Overall good but would not go back there.

I Returned From My Holiday 3 Days Ago And I Miss T

I returned from my holiday 3 days ago and I miss the Ova Resort Hotel so much, even looked at booking again next year.

The rooms were lovely, small and basic but had the essentials, and little touches such as fresh flowers everyday made it.

The staff were very helpfull anything u needed was there in seconds. The entertainment was fantastic, Ozzie, Carlos and Charlie did a brilliant job and Billy was always there taking photos to capture the nights best bits. They made our holiday without a doubt.

The only down fall was nothing to do with the hotel or the staff but the travel company Thomas Cook, my only bit of advice would be not to book any excursions with them no matter how appealing they seem, especially the Dalayan "boat trip" its nothing of the sort, very dissapoiting.

I can easily say that this holiday was the best 1 so far and im looking forward to returning next year!!!
