i have 2 accounts both can be used checked online i have 50.00 overdraft on both however one never shows the correct ballance one is correct wil say balcance 10.00 avaialable balance 60.00 the other always included the overdraft in the balance not available balance so is misleading for example it will say balance 60.00 available balance 60.00 when in actuall fact my balance is 10.00 any one else having this ?

“Halifax Bank - Take a leaf from First Direct!”

★★★☆☆

written by on 03/12/2012

Firstly, I don't have any serious objections with regard to Halifax Bank and have been a loyal customer for over 10 years. However, the security Division within the Bank is over zealous (especially this Christmas) and quite frankly don't seem to look for obvious patterns in peoples spending. I've had to call them a couple of times and it's costing me my time and money! I was refused a Credit Card by them, even though I've never been overdrawn and my credit history is average to good - Cheers for that! Also last time I phoned customer service, the girl on the other end (and I understand the calls are monitored for training purposes ... that old chestnut)felt it necessary to "tut" as I was obviously inconveniencing her! Very charming indeed. First Direct bank have an excellent approach to customers and I think a few banks could benefit from some training with them to improve customer liaison.

I would say the bank is good.great customer service when they actually answer the phone. They are quite intense with security which is a good thing but at the same time frustrating when I have my card blocked or payments refused because they believe it could be fraud. That means I have to phone them (chargeable number) and wait some time to prove I am me and I want to use MY money ! I am currently on the phone to the fraud department to ask then to unblock my card so I can buy my item in eBay.according to my phone I've been waiting 38min! They could improve by actually phoning me before blocking my card or rejecting payments that's i have made. I'll be making a proper complaint to my bank and request to have a refund of my phone bill.if they refuse to then I will be cancelling my accounts with them. 40 min on the phone now.complete joke!

★★★☆☆

written by on 21/12/2009

it seems its not just an aol problem as i have O2 broadband and have pretty much the same problems as the aol users,

I find that if i keep mrefreshing the page it comes up in the end though but i have no idea whats causing it.

other than that an easy site to use but try not to miss any direct debits as the charges are ridiculous and they dont even give you an unauthorised overdraft so you end up having to pay the bill and a £40 charge from the nice people at halifax for the privilege

I have been with the halifax since 1985 and I am about to find another bank because of the arranged overdraft charges that they are about to charge £1 a day may not seem like much but to the person struggling to survive in this day and age they are too much

I have been a Halifax customer for over 20 years and have generally found their service reasonable. However they have finished me off this time with this so called 'simple charging' for a planned overdraft. It will cost £1.00 per day until the overdraft is cleared. I think they should use TV advertising less and 'give a little extra help' to their customers.

I have used service for more than 5 years without any problems. However on 10 and 11 October 2009, I have not been able to pay my online bills and let alone transfer my child's diner money.

Its sad to rely on such a service as there is no communication from the bank of what could be the problem

Logging into Halifax Internet Banking is a bit cumbersome, but apart from that its pretty user friendly - although I wouldn't like their wizz-kids to think it couldn't be improved.
