BISSELL 3750J
The maid will do a good job with this...an american product designed for use in large rooms and houses and has an appropriately very long cable. Well specified, durable and effective, it's also fully serviceable and easy to dismantle and repair.
If you use this yourself you'll notice it's heavy and cumbersome, the detachable cleaner has to be held because it's not designed to be stood on the floor. The cable entry is on the wrong side and low down so the worst position possible. The hose conection is high so in the worst position. The tools are good but no consideration has been given to how they are actually held. The brush attachment is downright difficult to hold and use.
In all a very good cleaner but for the complete disregard for the comfort of the user.

This machine is brilliant I love it!!
It is so powerful that it pulls you along !! The lift off feature is very well designed and so convienent. It is not actually that heavy as some other reviews say. I would highly recommend this to a friend.

Bought my Bissell 3750E Lift-off on offer at cash & carry for under £50.
It is so good that after a few months I bought a second one to replace the first WHEN IT WEARS OUT.
Dodgey reviews seem to me to be user error. The collection container is on the small side, but that's the only fault I can find.
If you keep the filters & brush clean (very easy) it remains as good as the day you bought it. Had it several years and no sign of having to dig out the replacement yet. Very hard wearing and does an excellent job. Pull apart cylinder is a very useful bonus.
Mine has also been responsible for cleaning up after several room refurbs (plaster dust and the like) and has definitely been abused.
Quick wipe down and filter clean and it's like new!

According to the salesman at Kohls this bissell 3750e steam cleaner is a very good model.

I have had this Bissell 3750E Lift-off for a couple of years now and have found it quite adequate for my purposes and good value for money. The detachable cylinder makes it far more versatile than the "all-in-ones". Easier to carry upstairs when split into two this alsomakes it an excellent cleaner for awkward areas . The dust collector would have been better had it been larger.

While overall the Bissell 3750E Lift-off is a good vaccuum cleaner, ours has not lived up to the sales pitch, it is now three years old and has become so noisy the motor will need replacing. Given the price this should not be the case. Likely cheaper to buy a new clener than reapir this one. Not a satisfying expereince. Our Hoover upright gave over five years of service before we upgraded.

The Bissell 3750E Lift-off is an amazing hoover from Bissell, highly recommended and so much better than a Dyson. Just fantastic for the price, better power and cleaning than a dyson. Best £39.95 I have ever spent (refurb from bissell website)

Like a lot of the reviewers on this page when I first bought this cleaner I was impressed. But boy after six months of use we've gone out and bought a replacement. After a ffew weeks use we began to notice that the cleaner was covered in a layer of fine dust. It didn't take long before we realised that whilst it sucks up large particles it simply spews the remaining fine dust back into the air leaving every surface in a room where the carpet has been cleaned with a layer of grey filth. As an asthmatic I simply can't use this cleaner because everytime I do I become ill. I would really advice anyone even remotely contemplating buying this heap of rubbish to think again

I bought this to replace the abismal Hoover Hurricane, after reading many reviews of how great it was. Bought it in November 2006 and it was fab from the word 'Go'.
You can feel the beater bar through your feet, you can see through the transparency over the bar, when its getting clogged with hair and...this is the best bit, it it picks up something tricky, it is held in the filter container, which you can see quite clearly and is easy to remove. It has a great filtration system, which are all fully replaceable from the BISSELL website, you can build almost a new vac from what they sell on there in parts.
The main body then lifts out at the oush of a lever and it becomes a cylinder vac, which is great for the stairs and car. if you have pets and you let them on the sofa, you can buy a turbo brush tool for a modest £20, which works very well on the car.
Agreed, the dust container is a little smaller than some of the other vacs, but I can't see room for complaining, just empty it when you have finished. I have read some of the reviews on here, saying its hard to maneuver, not at all, if its dragging, then adjust the carpet height knob. It is heavy for some people I suppose, all I can say is, goto the shop and test its weight before hand.

Second machine has now disappeared into limbo - great when there is a five year old and a very hairy cat in residence - having such fun with the carpet sweeper!!

I finally gave up with this thing today, and I threw it away. It looks nice sat in the corner of a yuppie apartment, but if you have kids and pets, this is definitely not the cleaner for you. It's a very complicated cleaner, with lots of bends in the system. These bends allow larger bits to catch and clog it up, so it's not long before you have to take it apart on a weekly basis for a thorough cleaning.
The Bissell 3750E works very well when brand new, which is why you will find positive reviews (indeed it almost pulls your carpet up because the suction is so strong), but do you really want to pay that much for a cleaner that is useless after only a year?

I find some people are lazy and think that a cleaner does every thing including things that should be picked up first by hand.A cleaner should also be looked after by being cleaned and emptied all the time.the dirtier the place the quicker it fills up and some people don,t even think of emptying until some thing goes wrong.

This is a great vacuum cleaner! It is much better than a Dyson, and also cheaper. Having owned several Dyson's, I'm only sorry I didn't buy a Bissell 3750E vacuum cleaner earlier. It's so good, my mother has asked for one for Christmas!!

I only changed to an upright, as I had a new carpet and found the cylinder hard to push over the carpet. So after I saw the Bissell 3750E vacuum cleaner advert, I thought would get the best of both a cylinder and an upright. BIG MISTAKE!

I really can't see anything worthwhile in this vacuum cleaner. Apart from the nice shiny red colour, it has nothing going for it. It is very heavy to take up stairs, I have to dismantle it and take it up in two parts. The Bissell 3750E vacuum cleaner might be OK for a bloke, but not a small female like me. It's a shame that Bissell didn't just take this off the market, because as I said earlier, the pick-up driver had seen many sent for repair. It also took three weeks before I got the cleaner back again.

One of the best features of the Bissell 3750E vacuum cleaner is that it does come apart, making it easier to take upstairs and use on the stairs. I've never had any overheating problems, and it doesn't need emptying that often. It sounds like the overheating may be linked to the height adjustment not working, causing too much drag.
I've owned several Dyson vacuum cleaners, all of which broke down and blocked up regularly.

Compared with the Dyson, this machine is far superior. I had three dyson's before and each one broke down regularly, and they Dyson's DO lose suction, don't believe the adverts. The bissel is well designed at a very reasonable price. Although the dirt holder is small, you can see when its getting full, and is very easy and clean to empty. Although the power rating is on the low side, it does a pretty good job, and is very quiet. Very pleased with it.

I bought the Bissell Lift off Deluxe and I feel it is a waste of money and not all its rated to be. I wish I had stuck to Dyson when I was replacing my cleaner. I hate this machine and don't feel it's worth the money. Customer service scoring nil - poor customer service, when am told there is nothing wrong with the machine. Would I be phoning them running up my phone bill if it was ok, no customer empathy. Asked the question what is your policy on replacement if you cannot fix this machine, answer? We will not replace it there is nothing wrong with it. Now they have decided to get and independant person to check it no confidence in this at all. I expect it will come back with the same fault as before. If it does then am stuck with this rubbish and you know what you do with rubbish, bin it!

4 cats + 2 dogs = dust dirt hair everywhere.
I had a Dyson Animal which I hoped would fix the problem but I was not impressed with its performance.
After doing a bit of research and reading some reviews I opted for The Bissell vacuum cleaner and from the moment I switched it on I have not been disappoointed. This is an incredibly well built and efficient machine- the best I have had.
The suction is incredible and it lifts the carpet pile so well that the carpets look much newer than they are.
The bagless dust collector is small but it's so easy to empty that I don't find it a problem at all. It can lie flat making it easy to go under tables and chairs etc.
A great buy, highly recommended and looks good too!

Crazy Chick's Response to northsea's Review

We have the same model. It broke down yesterday after only 11 months of fairly light use. It became very hot and has lost all its suction, despite us cleaning the filters regularly and thoroughly. It had always produced quite a bit of heat when vacuuming and was very heavy to push (it nearly sucked our deep pile carpets up!). It was also very heavy to carry upstairs, not ideal for elderly people or those with physical disabilities. It clogged up with dust and hairs a number of times and spat lumps of dust and hairs all over the freshly cleaned carpets, plus it filled the tiny dust bucket after each vacuuming session. Cleaning the dust bucket was a messy job!
We were very pleased with the Bissell at first. It did a good job for the first few weeks. It also looks nice, but as we all know, looks aren't always everything.
Luckily it's still in guarantee and we are taking it back to the shop tomorrow. No way are we getting another of these!
