The Kanstul 1504 is a great horn. I bought it after trying many horns, including Bach 72*, 37, Conn V1, LeBlanc MF, Getzen 3050, as well as Kanstul 1500B, 1503 & 1600. Fits in anywhere. This should be on everybody's list of horns to try. It has a broader sound in the lower register (to my ear) than the 37 (and clones) - some might call that "dark" - but I prefer this sound (cornet was my first instrument!). Up high, it gets focused, and can just scream, or whisper, if you need it to.

See summary.Kanstul 1504 is a free blowing horn with rich, full sound and excellent intonation in all registers. Works well in a band or symphonic setting as well as for lead and small group jazz. Leadpipe slightly larger than other Kanstul Signature Series horns makes for a more open feel. Excellent fit and finish. Manufactured under the watchful eye of Zig Kanstul, one of the legends of the brass instrument industry.
