“Bought an Oris Big Crown Chronograph Watch on sale...”

★★★★★

Bought an Oris Big Crown Chronograph Watch on sale just recently. Discontinued last year, although the Telemeter version is still made. Really surprised by the low rating here; the movement is a standard-setting automatic chrono from ETA, and Oris' build quality is as least on a par with TAG, which is beyond expectation given the price. (How much is the cheapest TAG automatic chrono?) I'd heard of no issues with Oris quality before reading this review and making my purchase, and probably wouldn't have changed my mind even if I'd seen this review before I bought it, on the basis of inspection up close.

One thing I'd say about it is that it's quite big - bigger than most watches especially in thickness. And the matte black dial and white numbers/hands are quite austere. Otherwise, no concerns and I'll be recommending the brand where possible based on my experience.

“i have bought a Oris Big Crown Chronograph Watch on...”

i have bought a Oris Big Crown Chronograph Watch on 27/12/2007. 6 months after i bought, it leaked. it comes with a 2 years garuantee, so i returned it to the retailer ( a jewllery shop in argyl arcade glasgow) . 1 month after i returned, it was fixed under the garuantee. but i found the people who fixed for me has left too much dirts and marks inside of my watch. then i returned it to the retailer, wait for another month, the watch returned to me,very clean this time ! but in that shop, i found my watch didnt move. the staff in that shop only apology , said they will return it to oris repair centre to fix it. then i said ok. then returned , 2 months after, 2 days ago, i received my watch. it does move this time. but 24 hrs later, it stopped again!! i have only had the watch for 18 months, 4 months the watch was not in my hand.it has been repaired for 3 times and the problem still there. i dont recommed this brand at all. good looking good quality feel watch. but the real quality is terrible.

The Oris Big Crown Chronograph Watch is a very good, high end time piece.

“I had the option to buy either the Omega or the Oris...”

★★★★★

written by Real Boro on 26/02/2007

I had the option to buy either the Omega or the Oris as Harrods (Sale) had them both similarly priced.
I am so glad I selected the Oris.

It is accurate and despite it's size 44mm, very comfortable to wear.
I have other watches, but cannot see me wearing anything else.

“I paid $1500 for mine, and returned within the week....”

written by kmiab on 05/01/2007

I paid $1500 for mine, and returned within the week. It was 1 1/2 hours slow! And I had to reset the date twice. I could never get the 24 hour clock to work correctly on my Oris Big Brown Chronograph Watch, so I returned it for a Tag.

“I bought an Oris Big Crown and have regreted it ever...”

I bought an Oris Big Crown and have regreted it ever since.
DO NOT BUY ORIS is you want a watch that tells the time.
It has leaked, the crown fell off, the stop watch stuck, it gains 2 hours a day, has been back for repairs 7 times, still not working and Oris won't return my phone calls anymore. So stuck with a watch with a guarantee that is worthless.
This is not a quality watch brand - can't stress strongly enough that you should avoid them

I am very disappointed on Oris.
<br/>
<br/>I have purchased an Oris Divers Titan 'C' Small Second, Date.
<br/>
<br/>Despite the titainum Bracelet & case is light and comfortable, I cannot wear as the metal bracelet was badly designed and not possible to adjust to lesser than 16cm (my wrist is 15cm). And they are slow response to enquiries.
<br/>
<br/>The accuracy is not too well (+25seconds/day). [Understood that mechanical watches are not 100% accurate, but my Ball watch without COSC is doing +10 Seconds/day, J Springs by Seiko is doing -5 seconds/day. [COCS: Average daily rate: -4/+6]
<br/>
<br/>Still waiting for their solution to solve the bracelet problem /.\
