AEG Lavamat 76669

I bought this machine thinking I was buying a quality product - how wrong was I!!!!!!!Less than a year old and the whole computer; all 3 boards failed and had to be replaced and have failed twice since and been replaced, unfortunately it has recently failed again and my machine has been written off!! The parts are no longer available .......what a surprise.

Thanks for pointing out the sludge thing; I thought it was something I was doing, I never thought it could be the machine. I have ordered a replacement machine now but will NEVER touch AEG again!

Wouldn't recommend based on the performance of my machine. The usual wash takes over 2 hours and the quick wash option takes 80 mins. The washing is frequently streaked with dark grey sludge. I have cleaned the rubber seals and the filter - regular hot washes with no detergant (sometimes with detergant, out of desperation) and no improvement. VERY frustrating to wait 135 minutes for 30 degree wash to discover when hanging out the washing that to25% needs to be rewashed due to sludge marks. Would quiet happily chuck out, but can't afford to replace. Previously had Zanussi for 15 years with none of these issues. The only good thing I can say is that it doesn't leak (touching wood!)

We bought that mashine, and we love it. Its works very quietly and has child safe lock. Its very important when you have little feets running around. Yes its pricely, but I think its worth it. :)

As I had previously had an AEG that lasted 15 years I replaced it with the L76669 model.

It cost £499.99 less £100 energy efficiency promotion from npower.

At first it was great. I decided not to take the extortionate extended warranty as my previous AEG only needed brushes after 11 years.

It was just 3 years old when it failed. I finished washing the towels then the machine simply refused to reset. An engineer called and stated it needed AEG's computer diagnostics. To cut a long story short I was told the machine needed all 3 electronic circuit boards replacing at a cost of over £400.

I took this up with AEG but they didn't seem to want to know.

The casing was perfect but It was more economic to "dump" it than to mend the appliance.

I will never buy an AEG again.

A very good and especially reliable over a period of time washing machine. You get what you pay for. I can assure you our next washing machine will be A.E.G.

The first time I used this AEG Lavamat 76669 it dripped water from the door seal. I think the seal had got a little misshapen in storage or display, anyway it never happened again. The electronic controls are a pleasure to use and there is a countdown timer which tells you how long you have to wait. The answer is a surprisingly long time - most programs take a couple of hours unless you engage the Quick Wash button. If like me you normally wash clothes to freshen them up, rather than because they are actually dirty, this is a little frustrating. The detergent dispenser is rather narrow and it is flushed out slowly - with the result I got a residue of gunge with Sainsbury's Colour detergent tablets. I switched back to powder (same brand) and it's fine.
