Appalling. Website lures you with various ambiguously-placed incentives of "Free Cancellation" and/or radically discounted prices, only to glitch-out and renege on such promises. When you call them, they hang up mid-conversation. I was categorically promised "Free Cancellation" next to the listing on which I clicked. Call centre point-blank refused to believe me. Due to covid19 I had to cancel my trip to The Netherlands. All reservations including airline tickets I could cancel without any cost. Cancelling a reservation for a rental car however would cost US $ 115,-- Apparently rentalcars.com is not aware of a global problem with covid19. This is the worst customer service I have ever dealt with. I will never use this company again. This is not good business practice and when I asked to speak with a manager I was informed that no, they will have to call me back. I am having to travel to GB from NI tomorrow to attend my Mums funeral in light of govt advice my husband at high risk is not attending he was named driver. You will not let me change a name but instead make me book a new car that has worked out more expensive. I had arranged rental car insurance coverage for a trip to Panama this past December. Once at the airport rental car pick up it was discovered that I needed additional insurance that would have made renting the car prohibitive so I cancelled the car rental. I have used Rentalcars for years with no problems but in January 2020 A rented a car through Rentalcars from GreenMotion at Manchester Airport, drove it 44 miles on Friday afternoon, left it in the car park until Sunday afternoon and drove it beck to GreenMotion with no incident. Rented a car on this website, and it said total payment around £100, including some small local charges. When I went to pick up the car I had to pay another £250 for the supplier to release the car, as CDW wasn't included. “Pay more on insurance than the rate!”

I booked a car for my trip to Israel at a very good rate, about $320 USD for 20 days. Turned out when I picked up my car at the airport I was told that I need to pay the insurance which is mandatory in Israel. The insurance itself for the same amount of time is $1300 USD. Rentalcars claims you can modify your booking as you like. True - but they do not mention the slight detail how much it will cost you! I wanted to change only the time of the day when I want to pick up the car - this I could only do re-booking the whole trip! And cost me 20% of the total booking! I would have cancelled it but this also costs a lot- they do not return the fee taken on booking, another 20%! So rentalcars.com? first time and last time. I had to make changes with the reservation 24 hours before collecting the car. The email answer was no, so I tried to get them by phone. impossible. they hang up without even answering the phone. the supplier can't help because why would he? they just hand the car. There is no change to m booking even though i've spent hours ttrying to find how to remove a baby chair from my order. Overall, the system is ok when you just want to accept basic conditions. But in case you need to change anything, there is no phone number, contact details etc. So you're left alone with the problem. “Forced to pay double the price for flight delay”

My flight was delayed by 4h. I contacted the rental company directly who advised me to contact rental cars because they might require more money in case I do not collect the car at the right time. I contacted them and they confirmed that even in case of flight delay (which is force majeure) I had to modify my reservation resulting a huge extra cost. This is simply illegal. Booked a car with my computer and VPN via a server in Tokyo. The system assumed I want to pay in Yen, so I change to my currency and book the car. Next time I login I got Japaneese currency again, contact support, they tell me that my car booking and insurance was not valid even if they already charged 3200 €.
