Rented a car on this website, and it said total payment around £100, including some small local charges. When I went to pick up the car I had to pay another £250 for the supplier to release the car, as CDW wasn't included. This had not happened with previous bookings, but the reason according to Rental Cars.com, was that the booking was a U.S. booking, where CDW can be covered by an Amex card. “Pay more on insurance than the rate!”

I booked a car for my trip to Israel at a very good rate, about $320 USD for 20 days. Turned out when I picked up my car at the airport I was told that I need to pay the insurance which is mandatory in Israel. The insurance itself for the same amount of time is $1300 USD. Rentalcars claims you can modify your booking as you like. True - but they do not mention the slight detail how much it will cost you! I wanted to change only the time of the day when I want to pick up the car - this I could only do re-booking the whole trip! And cost me 20% of the total booking! I would have cancelled it but this also costs a lot- they do not return the fee taken on booking, another 20%! So rentalcars.com? first time and last time. I had to make changes with the reservation 24 hours before collecting the car. The email answer was no, so I tried to get them by phone. impossible. they hang up without even answering the phone. the supplier can't help because why would he? they just hand the car. There is no change to m booking even though i've spent hours ttrying to find how to remove a baby chair from my order. Overall, the system is ok when you just want to accept basic conditions. But in case you need to change anything, there is no phone number, contact details etc. So you're left alone with the problem. “Forced to pay double the price for flight delay”

My flight was delayed by 4h. I contacted the rental company directly who advised me to contact rental cars because they might require more money in case I do not collect the car at the right time. I contacted them and they confirmed that even in case of flight delay (which is force majeure) I had to modify my reservation resulting a huge extra cost. This is simply illegal. Booked a car with my computer and VPN via a server in Tokyo. The system assumed I want to pay in Yen, so I change to my currency and book the car. Next time I login I got Japaneese currency again, contact support, they tell me that my car booking and insurance was not valid even if they already charged 3200 €. When changing the reservation instead of lowering the total amount of one day plus the insurance of that day you have reduced the price by only 2 lei. practically for a shorter period I paid the same money. Why ? Are you hungry? So you know how to keep your customers? I do not recommend and I will not call your services. In Mallorca I was very pleased. In Italy, not at all. Make sure you book for the exact amount of time you need the vehicle for, I booked for 4 days but only needed it for 1. I spoke to the rental company and they were fine to adjust the charge but Rentalcars.com would do it so charged the full amount.
