I have JL amplifiers, a small fortune in wiring and dynamat, diamond audio speakers all around and JL 12"subs. The stereo sounds good when it is tuned PERFECTLY. The auto time correction and auto EQ settings make it almost impossible to get the radio sounding good so they are always off on my radio. This radio is very temperamental to setting adjustments, I've been tuning car audio systems for 20 years and this one is not easy to get sounding great. If it was not for the spectrum analyzer display which is great, this radio would have been replaced a long time ago. But for now I'm putting up with it! So in less you really want the cool display I'd look somewhere else for your next radio...

I had a Pioneer deck in my old car and I loved it so much I wouldn't even look at anything else for my new one. I purchased a DEH-8600mp and installed it myself (not too hard just read the instructions!) and I LOVE IT! It does a great job of controlling my Audiobahn 2000 watt mono amp and 2 Audiobahn 1500 watt subs. The only problem I have ever had with it is the eject motor (for the discs) acting up and not spitting the cd out for about a week but I'm 90% positive this was from Armor-all leaking into the deck, making that my fault. The removable deck feature is also nice and extremely easy to remove and reattach. If you're looking for a deck that is not only bad but will impress people, this is the one for you (or you could just pay the same or more for some piece of rubbish deck that looks like it's from the 80's. They still play alright though so not dissin them too bad)! So many girls will come into my car and see the graphics and just be amazed! They also can't figure out how to work it so they can't change your favorite song!

My setup is for a 2004 Tacoma xtracab 4x4
Pioneer 8600 head unit
JL Audio 300/4 amplifier
front speakers = JL audio 6-1/2 reference 2-ways
Rear speakers Infinity Reference 5x7 two ways
Subs two x 10" Bazooka tubes with JL Audio 10w4-D4's
Also have a 12 band parametric EQ but no need since there are crossovers on deck and amps. Very tunable system and no real need to alter mountings or speakers.

Pioneer DEH 8600MP - I bought this deck and it made my stock speakers in my car sound really good, but then I bought some infinity kappa 6.5i's and they didn't sound any better than my stock speakers because the deck couldn't supply enough power for them. The deck will sound good if you have low rated rms speakers in your car, but if you don't, you need an amp because the deck just doesn't kick enough. My brother has a 7-year-old kenwood deck (the first mp3 deck ever made), and he replaced it with this deck because of the folder browsing and the ipod adapter ready feature, but when he plugged it in, you could tell hands down that the older deck's sound quality was much better. NO CONTEST! same speakers, same EVERYTHING and the KENWOOD was way better.

Ive had the Pioneer DEH-5500MP before and was very pleased with the sound, equaliser options. After a while I wanted a new model, and was told the DEH-77MP had amazing sound quality. However I didnt want the fascia panel to be a manual fold down. I wanted an automatic eject/fold down option with the same if not better sound quality than the 77mp. All i say to all of you is that if your after great SQ then go for the DEH-8600MP. Not only does it have all the options and a great equaliser, it has 3 sets of 6.v preouts (which is very handy). It is very very easy to navigate & use compared to the alpines around which have a million buttons. The styling is simple & slick. Very solid. Great little remote control. Has ipod options, and cd changer options. Plays all mp3, wma, cdrw and probably more!
Thankfully i got a good deal for £255 for the head unit, remote, a pioneer 12 disc changer and all connections, fittings etc. If you can get yourself a deal like this... as the head unit does retail up to £300 + on its own then go for it! You wont be let down at all.
You definitely notice the difference in sound quality. I guarantee you that!

Woah 6.5v! Now that's something! The highest I've ever seen is an Alpine 9857R with 3 5v pre outs.
