“One to Avoid”

★☆☆☆☆

written by Philippo on 29/05/2012

I have just returned from 5 day stay in the Casino Royal hotel, the rooms are basic but I guess clean, the food was quite nice for all inclusive terms and the staff quite helpfull and hotel situated in great position for local nightlife. If anybody is considering staying here, make sure you bring heavy duty Ear Defenders as the noise is outragious and never ending. I'm not sure if it is a student culture to play music loudly in your room, keep your door open and party in the corridors all night and not in your room, but this seems to be the done thing here. When the hole corridor is doing this while slamming doors, running and screeming all night to approx 6.30am it is impossible to get any sleep at all. Generally when I have gone on holiday before, I find most hotels try to keep different nationalities in the same complex, how ever this hotel was mixed, which made me feel like something could kick off at any time and did on several occasions during the night. The hotel has a strict one glass at a time policy and thank god as things would only have been worse. Lloret is a great place as I have holidayed a few times, bars/pubs like the Queen Vic or Rob Roys will give you a great welcome and the food in the Orient Express resterant can not be missed. I will go back to Lloret again but never to this hotel

“Too Many Young Revellers”

★★☆☆☆

written by pauloflorenzos on 12/09/2011

We booked this hotel as a cheap and cheerful break and that is certainly what it was, but without the break. The hotel is an all inclusive property but the hoops you have to jump through to get a drink is unbelievable. First they print your photo on a card which you have to present every time you want anything, then they give you a second card that you exchange for a warped plastic 500ml glass. No card or no glass to return = no drink. The place was full of 18-25 year olds from all over Europe who got drunk and fought each other before they went out, then came in at 4.00 in the morning shouting and screaming and banging on doors. The food on the first day seemed ok for the price, the problem was the same or similar fair was dished up every day. In the end we found a couple of Italian eateries near by that were both spot on. The one benefit being in a hotel full of young revellers was there was no problem finding a sunbed up to lunchtime when they started dragging themselves from their pits. The look on their faces was almost worth the sleepless nights!

“Would not have booked, except for the fact we had used...”

Would not have booked, except for the fact we had used HTOP Hotels in the past, this one is poor. Not family friendly, the MiniClub virtually non existent and poorly managed. The bar full of rowdy and drunk youths,
This Hotel should have its star rating removed completely.

“Gran Hotel Casino Royal is close to all facilities...”

★★★★☆

written by m tremlett on 24/01/2006

Gran Hotel Casino Royal is close to all facilities including the market if you like to shop the food is ok but tends to get repeatative although they do have days where they do specialist meats and fish I would recommend a try. On the whole a clean and friendly atmosphere and we made some good friends it does however get full of rather rude and ignorant Italian and Spanish teenagers due to sports facilities opposite the hotel. Be warned they would rather push you out of the way than ask politely we just pushed them back. The pools here are quite nice with an heated pool undercover and a sun terrace if you had rather sit quietly and chat. But rather a lot of steps and don't rely on lifts as they don't often come. This holiday was a good one for us though and on the whole we really enjoyed it. Don't listen to bad reviews it's definitely one to try for yourself we had a good laugh.

Philippo's Response to m tremlett's Review

The only comment to make against this review is that it was made in 2006? Don't try this for yourself, there are much better hotels for the same money. i.e. try the ancler.
