“LV Home insurance not recommended”

★★☆☆☆

written by Dericky160 on 22/08/2016

As soon as I contacted LV about a possible claim (before I decided to claim, actually I was wondering if it was worth it), they sent me the renewal documents (because the renewal date was close) and they increased the sum for next year by more than double. When i asked them why such a dramatic increase, they said because I had in mind to make a claim!

Why do you use a number that costs your clients money and makes money for you?

“Gone downhill fast, LV= frustration”

★★☆☆☆

written by DavionBlair on 15/10/2014

I have used Liverpool Vistoria for buildings insurance for a number of years because they offered a competitive premium with good service. Not any longer. When my garden wall blew down in the winter of 2013/4 it took them over four months to get it put back. Complaints to them resulted in promises of immediate attention which, however were pie in the sky. They also employed a third-party claims-handling firm which was so appallingly bad that it made the phrase "incompetent idiots" look like a recommendation. On the plus side, the actual builders were very good.... It is now renewal time. I can get the same policy cheaper on-line by having a brand-new policy rather than renewing (why do they do this? It happens every year)but their interactive web-site refuses to operate correctly and it proved impossible to make a purchase that way. I tried eight times on different days, but it would not progress and accept alterations to the fatuous and inaccurate assumptions they take as the default setting. This will be my last year with them unless they improve significantly.

“Excessive Renewal Cost”

★★☆☆☆

written by on 11/01/2014

My 90yr old Mum was told her renewal premium would be £601.27. On Comparison website this came (with LV=)at £157.24. A difference of £444.03. I complained. This is the bit thats interesting from their response "We are looking into amending our renewal documents to inform customers who are still on the older products about our new product, however it does not always work out at a cheaper premium for everyone and we are not able to know this without re-quoting for each person individually." Take care ... MAKE SURE YOU GET AN ALTERNATIVE QUOTE Shocking

“No confirmation”

★★☆☆☆

written by davidbennington on 03/12/2013

I have jst taken out a home and contents insurance with LV and was promised an email confirmation of this. Although the first instalment of the premium has already been taken out of my bank account, I have receIved no confirmation of the premium or the policy details.

Well I took out a policy on Friday, 13th December and confirmation details were posted upon making our one off payment, further, my mother is not too keen on computers, as such, our documentation has been posted and will arrive later in the week.

All in all highly pleased with the engagement I've had with LV via both their website and telephone - highly professional.

One big but - we have not made a claim, so cannot comment on this, but would not have purchased insurance from them if I considered it a poor company, quite the reverse, Which gave them a 65% mark in their latest survey - not high enough to make their "recommend" table, but good nonetheless when compared with peers.

“Price great , web process terrible”

★★☆☆☆

written by mster on 16/11/2013

Website seems very poor when using Firefox, constant problems with saving quotes and having to re-enter data, and on many occasions multiple button presses required to register a choice with certain radio buttons on each form page. very frustrating. f you hadn't been the cheapest I would have given up and gone on to someone who can actually get their IT right.

“Rip off Travel insurance”

★★☆☆☆

written by on 29/05/2012

My renewal for my Home and Buildings policy has for the last 10 + years included atravel policy (called Home and away). Thios years Renewal stated that travel policies had to be done seperately, please phone a number. My 'new 'Renewal was £322 for a European policy for 1 year. Previous year on my Home policy it was£90!! I have made no claims for a while. Although polite the persons I talked to could give no reson why. What a rip off. I have cancelled all policies worth £500 with them. They didnt seem bothered
