Wow, lots of negative reviews here. My experience was very positive. My parent's hot water stopped working. A friend came around to do a boiler service and see if it was an easy fix. It wasn't. I called Nationwide's Home Emergency Line and was told they would get someone out to me ASAP. I had a text come through within 10 minutes advising of a 2pm-7pm slot on the same day. I made the call just after 1pm. Just before 2pm I received a call from an engineer to say he was on his way. By 3.45pm The problem was identified (the Zone Valve was replaced) and the job was completed. Can't comment on others experiences but I can't fault the service that I received.

My bike was nicked Thursday, it will be replaced today (Tuesday) delivered to my home, ready built and good to go. Colour me impressed!

We had to make a claim through Nationwide as we had our three family bikes stolen from our shed. One of the bikes was insured separately as expensive and built up by my husband over a period of time.
Nationwide could not have been more helpful. I reported the loss 9am one morning, and by close of play that day, we had been called by the specialist bike insurers, who had spent well over an hour on the phone talking to my husband and made sure that they replaced his pride and joy, on the most like for like basis they could. They had also placed the order for the replacement bikes, and had provided us with a delivery date even though over the Christmas period. They also replaced the other two bikes without question.
All in all, a completely hassle free service, where they replaced the bikes without quibble, and extremely efficiently. Would highly recommend.

I am experianced in insurance and can see that most of the complaints on here are to do with claims being declined because of no cover or wear and tear - home insurance does not cover for every eventuallity and utimatly when something is old and has reached the end of its life it is YOUR responsibilty to get this fixed. I have found natiomnwide insurance one of the top in its offers of policy cover (5 star defacto rating) and the customer service very friendly. I would suggest that those people that are not happy because there claim was declined to actually read through there policy document.

I had a bike stolen in London. Nationwide simply took details over the phone and got a bike supplier to contact me directly. Their preferred supplier was 100% helpful, and I got new for old replacement. I was able to claim for mudguards, an upgraded saddle I had bought, and even liggt brackets. :Plus the padlock that was destroyed in the theft.
Amazingly good prompt service. They just could not have been more helpful.

whilst decorating spilt a tin of paint on the landing carpet. Nationwide were quick to respond, and had no problems replacing my hall, stairs and landing carpet.

Nationwide Home Insurance came to our rescue when the combi went bang and damaged walls upstairs bathroom floors and electrics. Ceilings needed relacing and a new kitchen, carpets and laminate was needed. The quote came to over £8000!!! We had very good service and rapid response. They put us up in an hotel for two nights!! A god send for a very stressful time.
