HOWEVER I RANG THEM AGAIN AT 1.10 PM AND AGAIN AT 1.59 PM.IN THE MEAN TIME MY WIFE HAD TO WALK HALF A MILE TO THE PONDEROSA CAFE FOR A TOILET REQUEST AND TOOK A FALL ON THE WAY.WE HAD TO PHONE A TAXI TO TAKE HER HOME.THE RAC BREAKDOWN SERVICE FINALLY ARRIVED AT 2.45 PM .THIS SERVICE JUST ISN'T GOOD ENOUGH FOR OAP'S STRANDED IN REMOTE LOCATIONS.

Thank you. I had an immediate response to my call by a friendly lady .No numbers to have to press! Got through whithin seconds . Help via the AA was with me in 20 minutes and my battery was changed. A cheerful friendly and efficient fellow, and I was able to be on the road again. Never had to use this particular sevice from Saga before but I am extremely impressed. Will include it in my insurance in future.

I would like to thank the helpful employees at Saga and the AA for the way they did everything to resolve my problem this morning(30/09/16). My car decided to lock my key fob in the car and in the ignition with me outside. As I didn't have home call on my policy I was allowed to up grade to comprehensive breakdown cover for a fraction of a call out fee and the operator at Saga then proceeded to call the AA for me and I had someone at my house within half an hour of my initial phone call. I would like to thank all at Saga and the AA for a prompt and friendly service and rescuing what could have been a costly and depressing day.

Broke down on a busy dual carriageway with no hard shoulder and reported that it was a very dangerous location. Saga called back after 20 minutes to say it would be another hour and a half before they would get to me (although the local recovery service depot was only two miles away). I had to get the police to help and had two police cars controlling traffic while they organised a recovery for me which took about ten minutes to arrive. This was dangerous situation and the service on this occasion was a disgrace.

At end of holiday in Ireland my motor caravan wouldn't start because of a flat battery. Phone call to Saga who at first could not raise anyone at the International Breakdown Centre in Lyon. The very helpful lady said that, to avoid me hanging on, she would arrange for them to call me as soon as she could get a response. They did this within around 15 mins. After explaining the problem, I was told that AA Ireland had been informed and would be with me within an hour. They were and, after starting the vehicle, checked out all the components of the charging system as well as carrying out a diagnostic check to identify any further faults. Within 30 mins I was on my way. A first class sevice all round.

Headed for the ferry with the grandchildren on board and the engine goes bang. Rang Saga Breakdown the lady call handler was brilliant took details and then passed me to european call centre. They arranged for a local firm to pick us up off the main Nantes to Rennes dual-carriage way. Quoted an hour and half but turned up with in half an hour taken to local depot. With in a very short time we were on our way to a hotel bt taxi for the night next day taxi sent to take us to the car. Recovery truck from another firm arrived ontime and transported us and the car to Chebourg. Car was loaded onto ferry and we were collected from the port and taken home. Brilliant service and at no cost to us. Will renew next year. Kept us informed at all times and would not travel abroad without cover.

We went to use our car on Saturday whilst on holiday in France, the Power steering had gone so we were unable to move the car, we called Saga breakdown and within 40 minutes the car was taken away from our very remote holiday home, even though it was a bank holiday weekend, We were offered a hire car but the only one Saga could find was miles away, being a bank holiday, we advised we were happy to wait until Tuesday, on Tuesday morning we had a call saying our car had been taken to Hyundai main dealers as it was still under warranty, and they would sort out the hire car, later we received another call, saying the maindealership had sorted the car and they would send a Taxi to take us to the garage to pick up our car, all covered by Saga. We very VERY impressed with the service received and would highly recommend this breakdown cover. The staff were very helpful, the lady from Saga breakdown kept in touch, even to let us know the Taxi was running a little late.

broke down outside campsite in middle of black forest in germany. rather worried as seemed in middle of nowhere. phoned saga b/down european number and polite perfect english frenchman took details and said would get someone out straight way...made me feel a lot better as he professional in attitude and i felt secure. adac ( european equivilant aa/ rac) attended and said starter motor gone. saga arranged for tow to nearest fiat garage. arrived 10mins before appointed time, very respectful of motorhome when hoisting on low loader, and carried 20m to garage where arranged for replacement of motor. saga european office kept in touch all time with texts and made me as if everything going to be alright, and it was. i would recommend them...

Reported problem to Saga 11.30am. Told somone would be with me 12.50. Got text saying delayed & would be 13.05, came 13.30 (2 hrs in total). AA man looked at my car & said I needed recovery. He reported it in at 2pm & I was told about 4pm. Received a text from Saga saying 15.35pm. I arranged with my local garage, 1 hr away, to get it to them before 5.30pm, when they closed so I could leave car & get courtesy car for work next day. Phoned Saga to let them know it was important that they got to me no later than 4.30pm. 3.50 pm Saga told me recovery truck 15 mins away. After several more phone calls by me, as they were not very good at updating me I was told everytime they were 15 mins away, which was clearly untrue. What made it worse I was paying 14p a minute for the pleasure of every call & had to go through the automated messaging before speaking with someone ON TIME RECOVERY(OTR) arrived just after 6pm, total of 6.30mins wait (4 hrs for OTR). Ended up being taken to OTR Depot 5 mins from my garage at 7.15PM. I was assured car would be delivered early next morning. Checked with garage at 2pm, no car. Contacted OTR who told me they were very busy couldn't confirm car would be delivered to garage that day. Contacted Saga to request they chase the company & was told I was not a priority as car was unaccompanied & I was not vulnerable. I was told it was no longer their business as they were recovery & that I should contact the complaints dept. I asked if I should have slept in the car overnight, & reminded them that it was down to them that the car was now unaccompanied & that the recovery from the day before was not complete & therefore it was still their business. Wasn't able/allowed to speak with a manager. Whole experience was bloody awful, neither SAGA or OTD (I ask myself OT for what, should OTD be prosecuted for false claims) have any idea about customer satisfaction, or what is reasonable to expect from a recovery service I was given the impression I should just be grateful when they turn up as they are very busy !!! I won't be insuring my car with SAGA again or buying into insurance company recovery service as it seems you are at the bottom of the pile when it comes to being 'recovered' If anyone has any good experiences & recommendations of who to get recovery insurance with, would appreciate the information. Car got to garage appx. 4pm total of 28.30 hours after call out !!!!

I'm actually an AA member, it's my parents that are with Saga, but this is my experience of Saga when I was out with them last night.
We broke down after 23:00 last night in a rather bad area. Due to the nature of the breakdown we needed a recovery truck only to be told it could (not would) take up to 3 hours. No updates from Saga at all until we called after 2 hours. The best part is the guy that picked us up (just within the 3 hours) informed us that he didn't even get the job until after the time Saga told us he was due with us.
It was not icy last night so that is not an excuse.
My own experience of my numerous other breakdown callouts with both the AA and previously the RAC has been much better and a much faster response.

I phoned and explained my car problem to a nice polite lady on the phone at Saga who told me someone would be there in just over 1 hour. At the end of that hour I had a phone call to tell me that the AA had handed my call to another firm who would be coming in 15 minutes. I then had a text message after 15 minutes telling me someone would be there in another 30 minutes! The chap who turned up was not a mechanic. He couldn't attempt to fix the problem but put my car on the truck and drove it to my regular garage. The previous breakdown cover I've had in the past always sent a mechanic. This is ludicrous.
I would have liked to know that 1. The correct story of what is wrong with the car gets to the other end of the chain and 2. sending a mechanic would be more helpful.

I am a Member of Saga who currently use the AA for Breakdown Recovery. This is my 1st year with them - Not impressed. Although attendance was very rapid, the Patrolman failed to issue an attendance report - Non Compliance. He recommended a local Garage which I later discovered charged double the cost of other Garages - Snapped wire to the alternator on a basic Ford Ka. Total cost £92.00!! When I complained to Saga they advised that I must take it up with the AA even though my Insurance policy is with Saga. Will definately not be renewing either my Car Insurance or Breakdown Cover with Saga. I was with Churchill and the Rac years and they were extremely professional.

Arrived within 30mins. Punctured wheel changed quickly.
Delighted with overall response to my call, even though tesco has been on that site for approx 10 years.

Are you aware that at renewal this year you will be serviced by the awful AA patrols? Are you aware that at this years renewal your premium will be the same but not next year? I have just been invited to renew at £118 for personal cover any car at the top service level but told that next year it will be £269.60.

I am with Saga this year who use the AA. I had occasion to call Saga when my car broke down. From the unprofessional chat up line of the Patrolman to recommending a Garage that charged me double, to the attendance report that was not issued, to The Customer Services Department at the AA who really couldn't care about the service provided.I complained to Saga who I pay my premiums to. They couldn't care less and just advised me to contact The AA. Not acceptable!!!!!

I have waited over an hour twice for roadside assistance while I've been using Saga Comprehensive Plus Breakdown Cover; the worse case being a puncture on the M4 - I told the operator I was a female driving alone - but it took an hour and a quarter for anyone to turn up - and despite writing to Saga Customer Services, not a single word came my way. Definitely would not renew policy with them on principle! They are about £20 cheaper than most for the all singing, all dancing home start, relay etc.

I found this review very helpful because...

<br/>I am also with Saga but had occasion to call out the Breakdown Service. The AA attended. They messed up from start to finish. From the AA Patrol's chat up line to not being issued with an attendance report to being overcharged doubla at a garage
