The Nokia N70 is a good phone for people with big hands. Though it should have better camera and music player.

written by lpavli3 on 30/08/2007

I've had Nokia N70 for five weeks and I couldn't say I'm not satisfied with it.

It's got a very good speaker (clear and loud), so you can listen to music loudly without strange noises in the speaker like in the SE K300.

Video playback is very good. I tried to download some videos from the internet and the phone plays them with a very good picture(thanks to the display) and excellent sound (thanks to the speaker).

One of the main points that surprised me was the huge, bright and excellent display. You can watch any videos you want from that.

And the best for last... it's very practical to have an mp3 player, video player, digital camera and a smartphone all in one nice little thing.

So... eh, almost forgot... the bad points. The first and the main one is the disastrous camera. Although the specifications says that it's got a resolution of 2MP, MY SE K300 MADE BETTER IMAGES IN A 1MP RESOLUTION! And the phone is also very slow. It takes about 15 seconds to just take a picture!

Hope my review will help someone to decide on a new phone.

“NOT A ONE-TIME USE PHONE! ”

NOT A ONE-TIME USE PHONE!

Taking account of what I have written so far I can safely say yes go for it! This phone not only is it cheap now but a great all-in-one for life literally. Anything you need to do most of the day can be revovled around this phone.

Your morning alarm, morning news, can be upgraded with software and a gps receiver to get you around your own cheap sat nav, traffic for when you go to work and take sneaky routes beat the traffic! email people or even customer for your work, give your mum and dad, bother or sister or even partner a call to see how they are doing, have all your days reminders and meetings dated and alarmed for the forgetfull, lunchtime news, football scores, adult entertainment, childrens entertainment, video record and send to friends and family, bluetooth songs accross for free, check your ebay account, use msn instant messenger, take photos of memorable place, call 999 when you hit the car infront admiring your n70 while talking to your friend, on the phone about how your late to work and everyones in your way! Record people saying things then replay it! use nightmode and zoom for those secret pictures, camera qulaity is pretty good it has auto-glare remove (samsung does not remove glare if you take a photo agianst somewhere where this a reflecting surface but the nokia cam looks past it) flash is excellent, watch a full movie.... (your own of course!..), overall excellent phone you can see what I mean by its not a one-time use phone. Great loudspeaker for incar, music when your pretendind your listening to your mother inlaw. Screen quality is excellent depending on how you like your brightness try adjusting it in display, settings, it is a pc in a phone ,a tv, internet.

Some people will say "Its my life" and some would say "what would i do without it" (sound familiar?) Ive had my phone for a year now and not once has it needed technical attention. its a little bit slow on the menu side of things and little life battery but overall i would use this phone for another year if i had to but if thers a better model i would certainly go for that.

(A recommendation the new n-series have a small size charger , which is easier to bend and the wire inside tears apart. when this happens and i guarantee you it will, please do not buy a 2nd party charger as this is not designed for the phone and decreases battery life and quality and havent you realised it takes much longer to fully charge? most people who have read this will now say "oh yeah that makes sense thats why my battery is running out faster, the genuine nokia charger takes approx 1hr to fully charge any phone,....trust me buy a genuine nokia charger and your battery will last longer and only charge when battery is about to die on you! fascia is easy to replace to make it look brand new! easily connected to phones, pc.

Also if you have one look for free symbian series 60 software for nokia on popular search engines and you will be open to a world of funky stuff! that you can easily upload using your compatitable dku-5 cable or if you have a dku-2 that works also. if you think the phone not good becasue samsung has password protect you can download software so that your nokia has it too just look for it. Im not going to make it anymore clear than i already have, enjoy i hope this was helpful.

written by catchpole on 02/09/2006

I've owned this Nokia N70 Camera for about 7 months. I use it everyday and I've found to be a great little phone. Battery life is good. It has lots of 'business' type features, though this isn't anything I've really ever used. The phone has pretty loud speakers, compared to my Samsung E350 which is almost silent in comparison. The phone also has a great camera, which I've taken some pretty cool pictures on. The flash is ok but nothing special. I have to say the sliding camera cover leaves a lot to be desired. It's thin and feels cheap. I've read in other reviews that the cover opens when you put it in your pocket, this is not true, unless you're a girl wearing super-tight jeans. The cover isn't going to open itself in your pocket, all you have to do is make sure you didn't open it as it went in! Easy! I've also heard from friends and other reviews that there are software faults with the phone, but I haven't experienced any of these myself, so I cannot comment. After 7 months the only problem I've had with my phone is the keypad broke, but that was because I sat on it, so it was my own fault entirely. No complaints, this is a good little phone. =D

The Nokia N70 mobile phone is good! It has quite a high volume, good features and the design is good!

Although it is too big. I expected a 2 mega-pixel camera and for the pictures to be good quality like the W810i, but it is really rubbish - the main camera is totally rubbish!

Overall, it is good, but it could have been better.

Those of you who don't need an Ipod or an N91 could easily upgrade the memory card to 1GB and have decent number of songs on the Nokia N70 mobile phone. If you just need a phone for basic requirements you might be disappointed with its small keys. If you are the techy type with a budget (like me!) this is the ideal phone for you. To show off to all your unassuming friends it's great functions and convince them that this is straight out of a Sci Fi movie.

The Nokia N70 mobile phone has loads of different media and options that are all easy to use, and none of them annoy you, which is surprising, because normally at least one thing on a phone would annoy you.

The style of the phone looks really cool, but at the same time it keeps the camera safe.

It is definitely the phone to go for if you want a modern phone, but at the same time a nice and easy to use phone.

The Nokia N70 mobile phone is good, except I was used to a fast flip Samsung. There was one problem. It kept ringing with the T-Mobile ringtone and it's so annoying, especially as I had lots of cool MP3's. I took the mobile back and they gave me a brand new one. I have had this one for about a month and it's still doing the same.

The Nokia N70 is an amazing mobile phone that has a nice sleek design, and it has the latest features, but now that the Nokia 91 and many other phones are out on the market, this phone has gone from the best to mid-ranged.

“The Nokia N70 is a high quality mobile phone for Nokia...”

★★★★☆

written by majidp on 03/05/2006

The Nokia N70 is a high quality mobile phone for Nokia fans, especially those who are interested in Symbian-based smart phones. First of all, I've been satisfied with the 2 mega-pixel camera, which can be used as a digital camera on special occasions (whenever you don't have access to your digital camera). It has a faster processor compared to previous models, except the 6680, which is so similar to this model (the camera is the most important difference). It has a flash which works great, but only indoors!

Symbian phones have so many capabilities by installing additional software, but not all people know much about it. I recommend this phone to people who really know how to use it. All Symbian-based phones (and this phone in particular) are a bit heavy and large. The keypad is not comfortable, and it's slower than non-Symbian phones, so only people interested in Symbian can take advantage of it, meaning that ordinary people will be disappointed.

One weird problem I faced was that the applications shut down if you press the "Red" key. I had trouble at first, but now I have got used to it. I still don't know how to keep some of my applications resident in the phone's memory, but that's not a severe problem.

Overall, it's a good phone for Symbian fans, but if you are a music fan and you want to use this phone as an MP3 player, you'd better go for a Nokia N91 which has an internal hard drive and key controls for playing music. It's also more elegant.

written by eldent on 13/04/2006

Now that I can finally use my Nokia N70 mobile phone, it's great! I have to admit that I doubt I will ever use it to its full potential, but you never know. The MP3 player is brilliant, and it's great that it combines phone, message centre, music player, camera and lots more, all in the same thing. It saves carrying loads of stuff around in your pocket.

Stcsuresh's Response to eldent's Review

Written on: 31/07/2006

Very good phone and good value for money. Radio,mp3 player, camera, office, pdf reader and the option to install additional software (calculator, bible). The sliding cover to protect camera lens is a good design. Camera works great outdoors and adequate light conditions indoors. Flash not powerful enough to take photos in low light. Keys are slightly small and cumbersome to use.
Battery life is also good. Optional memory card gives you space upto 512mb-1gb.
If you are looking for a "basic" phone you could be disappointed because of the small keys. If you are the techy type with a limited budget and looking for somthing more than a mobile phone this is the ideal choice.

I was, and I still am a true Samsung fan, but I decided to try the Nokia N70 for a change as I was due a new upgrade. Personally, I still prefer the Samsung and may well sell the Nokia and get the new D600, which has a 2 mega-pixel digital camera; the same as the N70. Saying that though, I thought the N70 was easy to use, and I soon got the hang of it (unlike the Motorola's - wouldn't have one of those if it was given as a gift with free calls and texts 24/7). I still haven't got round to uploading the software, so I can't comment on that. I would say that if you're a Nokia fan and don't like your phones too small and dainty, then this is the one to have. I have had no big problems with it, but personally I think I'll stick to Samsung in future.

I think the Nokia N70 is one of the best phones out there. I have had lots of phones and then I got my 1st S6o phone which I loved, but it had limited features. But then I got the N70 which has tones of them.
Like the photo editor, radio, 3D games and video calling. If anyone was thinking about buying this phone, they should its well worth the monthly charge.

I've had the Nokia N70 a couple of weeks. So far very good. I used to lug around and the iPaq and a mobile but found I only ever used the calendar and contacts. The N70 is a very sensible replacement with good connectivity with my PC, calendar, contacts and also has a 2 megapixel camera. Everything you need in one place. If you want a tiny phone then it isn't the best but if you like to have everything in one place and be able to Sync then its great. Also is bluetooth for use with hands-free headset in your car or wherever. Also set up for internet browsing and 3G and even video-calling, although I won't use these much myself.

“I got the Nokia N70 as an upgrade on my O2 account. I...”

★★★★★

written by Keith the Dolphin on 02/02/2006

I got the Nokia N70 as an upgrade on my O2 account. I was waiting for the Nokia 6280, but saw the N70 and took an executive decision and went for that instead. Good choice I think!

The phone is easy to use with the usual Nokia simplicity, and you'll have no problems navigating around the menu/sub-menu's. The camera takes great photos, and it has a built in automatic flash, but the range when it goes off isn't massive, but in a good light you'll get a cracking photo which can be e-mailed from the phone if need be.

I have 2 niggles and one nightmare...

The battery life isn't the best, but in all fairness I do have my bluetooth on most of the time, which I believe saps the juice a tad, so I try to turn it off when not needed.

The charging jack plug thing is tiny! In Nokia's wisdom, they've decided to change the size of the charging sockets (I now know of 3 sizes they do). You'll get a mains charger with the phone, which has the tiny plug on the end, and then an adapter for using the normal/old style jack plug chargers. At least it saves you buying another car charger!

Now for the nightmare...

The voice activated dialling. What a pain! With some of the old Nokia's you could record your voice into the phone saying a name for it to recognise that name and dial. No need now!! Just press the voice activated dialling button, speak and it'll search the phone book for a matching name - neat eh? Err, no! Half the time it gets it wrong (maybe my voice tone is wrong)! The main concern is when you're connected up to a Nokia bluetooth headset and press by accident the dial button, it'll wait for a voice, search and dial the number - not good if you press the button by mistake and don't realise it's searched the phone book, picked a number and dialled it. Any old voice will do; you can be talking to yourself of it'll even pick the voice off the radio thinking it's a command!! It is funny I suppose, but it is a pain! I've called Nokia, and to my dismay it can't be turned off!!

There you go. Apart from that it's a great phone. I've now got a 1GB memory card for it, so I've started to put some music on there as well as having tons of space for photo's - spot on! Buy it, you won't be disappointed!
