The Canon FD 50mm/1.4 35mm SLR lens is a fast lens, which is to say that it can allow you to take a good quality photo in low and very poor lighting.

Your normal zoom wide open in low light would usually give a exposure of f 4.0 at say 1/30.

A 1.4 is 2 stops wider, so that means that your shutter speed can go up to speeds. ie f1.4 @ 1/125, which means less camera shake and a better photo overall.

I bought this lens with the Canon F-1N. It's an old but one of greatest ever lenses what I ever had. It's very sharp, has excellent colours and superior accuracy. It gives professional quality pictures in all appertures and in all light conditions. This lens is Canon reference lens by which they adjusted colours for other lenses of that time. This is a perfect lens that gives a perfect quality, it does not have bad points at all. It's a great lens for 100$… Read Full Review
