“Pot Luck + Sods Law”

Unfortunately during one of the Cisco classes I couldn't take part in the practical session because my computer wasn't working and there were no spare stations so I had to sit and observe others. Not happy at all after the amount of money I spent. The recruitment material was totally unprofessional. Loose bits of paper, with stilly clip art images, different font sizes and the info on there was mostly generic. It was like it was prepared by a Year 7 school IT class. “courses are expensive. good teachers. awful support team.”

I had a training course with justIT in 2008. this is my review: 1> £5000 for the programme. 2> teachers were good. 3> Girls from the support team are young, lack of experience, they may not remember your name. two or three student will get a job if the girls like you. My name is Simon Perriton and I am the founder and MD of Just IT. I was sorry to read your review. Sadly it’s fair to say that we don’t get it right all the time! I wish we did. Thanks for your positive comment on the trainers though. It’s nice to reflect on the fact that we have been helping people into the IT market since 2001 and this year over 600 - 800 people will get IT jobs through Just IT - pretty impressive!. But whilst we have grown over the years it is with regret that a small number of people are not happy. But if we get feedback (which we encourage) we listen and act on it. Since 2008 when you did the course we have evolved in many ways. You did the course right at the heart of the biggest recession we have seen for many years, so I am not surprised that things were tough. But we have a much better market now and we have done a few things to help people like you going forward. We have grown the recruitment team to over 20 people and invested in the skills and development of my colleagues. We will on occasions send 3-4 people to a job - that’s normal, so I don’t know your point here. The cost of the course is also only £3995 plus the exams and there are pay as you earn options. “Bad Support on the programme”

Just IT provided me with a great job and an opportunity to gain experience. But pity they provide such bad support. They dont contact their students when necessary and only contact when they feel it is apporopriate. The are badly organised and do not stick to times and deadlines when arranged. Out of a claqss of 30 only 5 show up and they do not contact the rest. A more accurate name would be Just-a-recruitment-consultancy-with-some-IT-too. It may be right for some people, but was just too focused on dreaded "soft" skills for my liking. FYI they encourage their good students to post on this site to buck up the numbers… Read Full Review

My name is Simon Perriton and I am the MD of Just IT Training. Thanks for your review. It's an interesting thing this balance between someone's technical skills gained through experience in IT, their certifications and their 'soft skills'. Since 2001 when I started the company I have met thousands of people who have aspired to get into IT and I can tell you the one thing that holds a lot of people back are their soft skills. Certifications can be gained in a short number of weeks (9 weeks if people do the full time course is all most people take to do the A+ and XP MCP). Work experience for the majority of people that get an entry level IT technical support job through the Just IT programme is quick as well for most at only 4-6 weeks. The problem for some people is the soft skills. Whilst we have a career support team of people that work with the candidates in this area, some people find these skills more difficult to develop - and yet employers tell us again and again how vital they are!
<br/>So I think these three areas are all important and for each individual we need to be sensitive to their needs and help them fulfil their potential in their IT career. It sounds like from your review you did not like the soft skills side. I am really interested in this because many candidates comment on this site how useful they find this area of development in the Just IT programme. If you want to share more of your thoughts you could call me on 0207 426 9839 - or respond to my comment. By the way have you passed all the exams yet? How long did your work placement run for? Are you working in IT having done the Just IT programme?
<br/>On your other point, you are right I encourage people to post their experience on this site - as my statement at the top of the page states. If you wanted to spread the good news of people getting jobs in IT through a company you owned wouldn't you do the same? At the end of the day it is their choice whether they want to be positive or negative about their experience - I am just glad that over 90% are positive. But I wish it was 100%!
