“APPALLING SERVICE. CONSTANTLY LIED TO”

written by Daniap326 on 06/09/2023

Recently retired I've been trying since May 2023 to withdraw my small pension. 3 times I was sent forms with the wihdraw lump sum option; 3 times I returned the forms, ticking that option but still more identical forms kept arriving with no explanation. Eventually discovered after numerous frustrating phonecalls that my poilicy doesnt allow lump sum withdrawals so I'm tied into this incompetent company for the rest of my life. I keep being promised the tax-free advance I opted for has been paid already or is being paid this week, or a manager will call within 48 hours. None of which has actually happened. The stress of making daily phonecalls to chase for payment and being fobbed off with a pack of lies everytime is making me ill and has caused extreme financial hardship. Now starting to wonder if the company is in financial difficulty and if I'll ever receive my funds. A report to the Pension Ombudsman is now my only option

A company I worked for previously stated a Company Pension Scheme in July 1990 with Norwich Union Life Insurance Society for which they paid 2.5% of my salary for three years with no employee contributions. Barclays acted as the administrator of the scheme. Can you tell me how I can find out if there is any pension money for me? Thank you

Probably your best option is to contact the Pensions Advisory Service. They are an official organisation and I found them very helpful when considering options for my Pension. They advise on all aspects of Pensions and I’m sure they could point you in the right direction to find an old pension that has been taken over. Good luck
