I had my bike stolen on 9 November and now on the 11 January I am no further forward on whether Rampdale will pay out. My claim (in the £100's) has gone to a management review but has been at a management review for about 6 weeks, due to a technicality on my policy. My policy states commuting, but my bike was stolen from my head office, about 1 mile from my usually place of work which I very rarely visit and it was my first journey of the day from my home. Why does it take 6 weeks for a management review to decide on course of action. Rampdale have no concern over the personal issues their delaying tactics cause me. One I lost a much loved bike and For 2 months I have had to arrange lifts to work. I can't proceed on getting new transportation until I know what Rampdale decide. To rub salt into the wound I recieved a separate email asking me about renewing my bike insurance, how insensitive. All they care about is getting money in. I have been with Rampdale since owning a bike (past 4 years), and plan to ride a bike for a long time. They don't seem to care about customer loyalty and future loyalty. Terrible, no care for customer at all.

I had my bike for just 4 weeks when it was stolen however I only had 3rd party insurance so I just tried to cancel the insurance. After about 2 hours on the phone being passed between different departments and stuck on hold, I was told I can't cancel over the phone but need to send them an email. 3 emails and 3 weeks later I finally got a response saying it would be cancelled. I payed £545 for the year so I figured i'd be charged 1 month plus a cancellation charge and I was expecting around £400-£450 refund however, due to the delay, they charged me for 2 months insurance. After there extortionate cancellation charges, I received a refund of £285 meaning on top of the loss of my bike I was charged £260 for 4 weeks insurance. Absolutely disgusting.

I Wish I had read these reviews before I took out my sons Insurance. I paid in full £221.63.after 8 weeks my sons moped broke down , so got another moped they charged £70 to change over. Then 8 weeks later my son had a accident to no fault of his own . wet roads. fell off and damaged his left leg unable to ride for 4/6 months .I phoned up to cancel policy ,cant do it over the phone send a email .no correspondance.sent 4 emails before I received a reply. All they will refund is £26 .disgusted. all they do is rip you off. I have ended up paying £50 a month for 4 months of riding. please look around before you buy from this insurance company . Dont know how they can call themselves a no1 insurance company . They dont answer the phone either . avoid . I will be warning all my sons friends not to use this company . NO BIKE,BAD LEG, AND £200 WORSE OFF.

Took out insurance with this company as they seemed to provide good cheap cover for my bike. After having the bike for a month, turned out I needed a new bike after old bike kept letting me down and couldn't keep affording new parts. Phoned up to get quote for different bike. After three promised call backs and me calling back everytime. They informed me that the premium would go up which I expected but that they expected me to pay £250 up front! I told them I wished to cancel after making two payments and they tried to charge around £90! I decided it wasn't worth the stress and called up to cancel, to which the told me I had to email it in to cancel. I emailed the company and heard nothing back. I then phoned up AGAIN and was told just to send it in again. Policy still not cancelled.

In reply to this comment, please note that before a policy can be purchased online a customer has to accept our "terms and conditions" which states the following:
***CREDIT SEARCHES We and/ or the insurer and/or credit providers may use publicly available date from a variety of sources, including credit reference agencies and other external organisations to verify your identity or creditworthiness, to avoid fraud, and to obtain beneficial quotes and payment options on your behalf. Each of the searches may appear on your credit report whether or not your application proceeds. If you have chosen to pay by direct debit we use a finance Company called Giscours Ltd. Generally, if you have arranged Insurance over the phone the below will have already been carried out, however, the below should apply if you have arranged cover Online. To determine whether Giscours Ltd will accept your application they will use credit reference and fraud prevention agencies to help make their Decision. If your application is successful Giscours Ltd will send you a credit agreement, this must be signed and return to Giscours . If your application is unsuccessful we will contact you and request if payment can be made by another method.***
If the alternative method of payment is not acceptable to the customer then we would have no choice but to cancel the policy. This would be done on a pro-rata basis but is subject to a minimum charge of £27.50. In these situations, Rampdale does not make a charge and the customer purely pays for the time they are on cover.

The worst company ever , they cant even help an ex war vet who has miss understood that the insurance was going to charge him twice in the same month all because he changed his pay date, the thing i cant get over is that they charged me on the 6th , and not not noticing that the new pay date was on the 28th of the same month, thinking because i already payed once that the next pay day would be the next month, however they have now said that they are not willing to help me even though i have tried to explain the the fact i cant afford it this month, they are not willing to help but are willing to add extra to the policy, i think that this compnay needs to be shamed and named, its not far that you pay once on m time and n thenm they send a letter asking for more money, and if you dont pay ( even though it already has been payed) they will cancel the policy and send the bayliffs for the 56 pound outstanding, if anybody out htere wants insurance for their bike DONT use this company they are dreadful,. THEY WILL NOT HELP YOU IN ANYWAY , DONT BOTHER WITH THESE THEY ARE A WASTE OF TIME AND MONEY.....

The motorbike insurance was canceled without my knowledge. Rampdale uses several insurance companies which you can't get in touch with or even find details online. Xpekt is one of those companies. After several calls trying to avoid my insurance being canceled, or any help in the situation, Rampdale just replied with a "too bad" attitude and the customer help department were really rude. Something you chose these companies to try and save money but you end up spending even more. I suggest reference insurance companies as you are treated differently and with respect.

In reply to this comment, please note that we only ever cancel a policy after contacting the customer via email or post (sometimes both) and in some cases by telephone. If no response is forthcoming we have no alternative but to cancel the Insurance as per the terms and conditions of the policy.
Regarding the second point of not being able to get hold of an Insurance Company, please note that all Brokers act on behalf of Insurers and as part of the agreement they shall have to deal directly with the public unless an issue can't be resolved.
Rampdale will at all times endeavour to offer a professional and courteous service and if any customer feels this has not been adhered to should contact our office to let us know so the appropriate action can be taken.

where do you start with rampdale, i suppose with the customer service that does not actually exist beyond getting you to take a policy with them zero help beyond the initial interaction they hide behind your policy small print that they fail to inform you about because its "our responsibility" to read them in full i assume that usually takes place afer you qualify for the law degree and you fully understand the draconian rules they set in place The other rampdale excuse is fobbing you off to your actual insurer and washing their hands of you, rampdale being only the people that take your money and if you are in an accident you're really on your own trust me on that point they wash their hands of you but thats only after selling your details to the multitude of accident claim maggots and curtesy vehicle brokers who send you a "curtesy" replacement bike while the claim goes thru but try to charge you when the other insurance company wont pay the extortionate vehicle rental terms finally you will marvel at the speed they send out the letter telling you your insurance is cancelled when they try to avoid actually paying out by then insist you return the paper insurance certificate they never sent you in the first place and threaten you with dire legal preceedings based on a legal system that has not been used in years if you do not. we print our own documents you idiots as soon as you cancel the insurance policy you could'nt tax a car with it you idiots, dvla write to you within a month to make you sorn the vehicle for having no valid insurance tell me though if i print out the pdf and send it to you can i charge you £25 for the correspondence plus a further £90 idiot tax and cancellation levy

Two weeks of begging for my 6yrs no claims discount document. Customer service is nil spent hours on phone at premium rate ( 0844 ) all I got its in the post or its been sent by email even had phone put down on me. Had to contact my insurance company direct it was sorted within 5mins. They where happy to take my money every year since 2009 but because I found a better broker and better insurance at half the price they didn't like it. # PLEASE AVOID THIS COMPANY YOU WILL BE SORRY AND OUT OF POCKET #

DON'T USE THIS COMPANY STAY AWAY. I've had nothing but trouble with this company and there sister company. Pretty much impossible to get in touch with , was told by an advisor that ramp dale don't take calls unless you want to cancel the policy. Took me 20 calls over a period of 2 weeks to try and get in touch. Customer service doesn't exist with this company. They have a cheek saying there the no1 biker insurance. Never experience a service like this , and after all my trouble did I even get a sorry nope !

Complete waste of time and money! They just completely rip you off... There are much better value for money insurance companies, who act professional. Don't know how their alowed to operate. High admin charges, no refunds given! Insurance doesn't register on police data base. No explanation, my son could of at least had a years no claims it they were professional enough to explain things properly. We canceled 3 months early, no refund and lost years no claim.

i hope your reading this GISCOURS you nasty people, if anyone chooses to pay monthly with rampdale it will be with giscours, giscours also provide payday loans, i bought a sukida 125-5b a while back from learner legal.com and got insured with rampdale i chose to pay monthly, about 2-3 months into the policy the bike got stolen and never recovered, i decided to stop paying the monthly installments, i mean why keep paying insurance for a bike you no longer have !, after a while giscours took me to court i made a part offer and explained my bike got stolen, they obviously did'nt give a damm and rejected the offer and still wanted it in full, the court hearing has already taken place a few days ago the outcome was i have to pay the outstanding in full, im now paying the price for my bike being stolen haha

Don't bother with this company they are totally useless and charge well over the odds, be wise and use a comparison site and save yourself a fortune and a lot of hassle, also if you buy a new bike and the dealer says that they do good deals with rampdale its because they earn commission from it...

My son contacted Rampdale to cancel his motor bike insurance which was due to run to next May 2014. He didn't realise until he received a letter detailing the repayments that he will be paying the exact same amount of money whether he has the insurance or not and that it would have to be paid in full within 7 days. He contacted the company on receipt of the letter to retract the cancellation but was told it was too late. We realise that the consumer has a responsibility to make themselves aware of the terms and conditions they are signing up to but is it really too much to expect Rampdale to advise that there was no point in cancelling? I contacted the 'complaints officer' who's response was that it's the customers responsibility to ask the right questions. This company obviously have no regard for their customers once they have signed the contract - beware!!

PLEASE AVOID THESE PEOPLE!!!! My partner had a bike insured with Rampdale people. At some point we have sold the old bike and bought a new one. Wanted to transfer the policy but were told by Rampdale that the insurance company wanted additional £500!!! And this is for the bike which is considered safer!! The lady from Rampdale then advised to cancel the old policy and make a new one. Gave me a quote. I asked her how much the cancellation was and she told £ 23.00, so I wrote a letter to them to cancel it. Several days after I recieved a letter saying that I need to pay £101.00 cancellation charge. When I called for an explanation they told that £23.00 was only in case I made a new insurance with them. Ok, but no one told me that this was the condition!!! The £101.00 was not mentioned at all! I understand everyone can make a mistake but these people need to learn to admit their's and be responsible for their staff. Going to leave this review everywhere and contact a lawyer.

Dear Consumer,
We have read your comments, though we are unable to respond fully as we don’t have your details, if you wish to discuss this matter further please email [email protected]
I would however say that our Terms of Business are sent out to you on inception of a policy, you also have fourteen days to look at our Terms of Business and if you find them unacceptable you can cancel, you choose not to. Our Terms of Business are very much in line with our competitors and in many cases far better otherwise we wouldn’t be still in business after 24 years. We appreciate that purchasing Insurance is a legal requirement and not something you enjoy doing so this is why our staff always try and assist you, we look forward to you contacting us.
Thank you

Bought a 50cc scooter, i insured with Rampdale cost £246, (should have looked more at other insurers) by bike was a dud, brand new as well, after 6 weeks the bike company took it back, Rampdale only refunded me £30.00. were very rude on phone, and basically said £30 is all you will get, DO NOT INSURE ANYTHING WITH THESE PEOPLE, i have another ins now costing £99 per year, Rampdale are cowboys, i will make sure everybody knows not to insure with them.

Just today my Dad left me a voicemail saying “Mike, it’s your Dad, please phone me as soon as possible.” So, naturally I thought worst. I rang him, and he was in the back of a police car (he's a 70 year old man)! Apparently my bike isn’t insured - even though I have a certificate saying it started on the 25th June 2012 at 23:00!!! I found all the documents I have online and told him all the details for the police officer I’ve since emailed the sham of a company (Rampdale) telling them I want a full refund & that I am taking this further, it’s going to consumer watchdog, Motor Insurer's Bureau, local & national press. It’s absolutely disgusting. It’s illegal for them to not have registered it on the police database. I fear that all of this came from one of their customary £20 letters asking me for payment of the £20 within 7 days (this was 2 months ago) or they would automatically take it. So as the letter stated they would automatically take it, I assume they did!! If I could give them no stars then I would! DO NOT USE, DO NOT EVEN RECOMMEND TO YOUR WORST ENEMY!!

Been with rampdale about 3months and sick of them alreadycive received 3 recorded letters from the at £20 a pop (those gold lined envelopes don't come cheap anymore) all of which were completely unneeded. 1st one after setting up my direct debit and paying initial lump sum get a letter about a week later saying they were unable to set up the direct debit, after being told on the phone it was done! So give them a ring as there website is useless on hold for 15 minutes only thing they said was check bank as my card details were ok, ring bank all ok, ring back to rampage then say its fine, all is well for a month until another letter saying direct debit failed again ring rampdale again, they say its fine sent in error but no refund for both letters.... Last letter I've received this month they haven't relieved my cbt and other documents..... Posted them ages ago but given up emailed them totem again and wait for the next letter......
