“DO NOT USE”

They do not answer calls takes half an hour at least, claim number goes dead when transferred. I still haven't been able to get through to report a claim. Shouldn't be allowed to sell insurance!

“Asda car insurance”

★☆☆☆☆

written by Bryant49 on 31/01/2017

I tried Asda car insurance for a year, but quickly changed away when I realized they rip off their customers when any changes are made to the policy. I needed to make a change to my license type from UK to EU and was charged £100.00 for that! Terrible on this and other things.

“Rip off ”

★☆☆☆☆

written by RyleighLancaster64 on 06/09/2016

I took out their car insurance for my husbands new car. I wish I had read the reviews beforehand. The website claims you have to provide NCD proof and driving licence details within 3 weeks. 10 days later my husband receives a letter stating that as they have not received such despite reminders they are cancelling the insurance and charging us for it. 2 days later we received a reminder letter with SAE to send the documents through !!! Reading the reviews online I am not even sure if there is an insurance company involved. Seems like they just like to take your money, cancel your policy and then charge you money for it. I have recently insured a car for myself online and strangely enough they checked my NCD online and no need to send in any documents. Goes to show they are either incompetent with technology or as above just like to rip people off.

“Renewal nearly trebled in price.”

★☆☆☆☆

written by Janeyannie on 16/07/2016

Do not go with asda/brightside insurance. You can never get them on the phone. Customer service is virtually non-existent When you take out insurance they want copies of driving licence/v5 document/no claims proof then when you send these they take a while to aknowlwdge reciept of them. Then send you a letter threatening to cancel policy because they haven't received them!!! I had to contact brightside via their FB messages several times over the matter. Just got my renewal for this year aug 2016 and it jumped up from £440 to £1200. Which is ridiculous as I have 7 years no claims, am over 40 and the car is a Citreon Picasso 1.8. Safe to say I will not be going with Asda/Bright Side insurance this year. Would not recommend these even to any one I hate.

“Dont use or renew with Asda”

★☆☆☆☆

written by fnFigueroa362 on 19/06/2016

Asda really should stick to groceries, never had such a bad experience when trying to change details close to policy end, refused to insure a cheap Rover 25 runaround (less risk???). Accused me of breaching contract through changing details. In the end I left the policy run for its remaining 1 month just to accrue the NCB. Avoid at all costs, and if you are coming up to renewal I urge you to look elsewhere.

“Never insure your car with asda Insurance ”

★☆☆☆☆

written by bukolamatuluko on 18/05/2016

You'd be saving yourself if you never insured with ASDA! I insured my car for a whole year, when my PARKED car got brutally hit by a random driver, outside my house! They blamed me and they refused to pay me back for the remaining 7 months balance from my whole year subscription. They claimed that I was supposed keep an eye out on my car 24/7. They would not even contribute towards a replacement car despite me using it daily in order to go to work. I gave them all my receipts used by me when having to take public transport, hoping that they would pay me back as compensation. When they finally did it was only half of how much my car was worth! To think of it, What's the purpose of this insurance if they do not do their job properly. I was a loyal customer for over 2 years and they did not help me whatsoever Never insure with this company.

“Avoid like the plague”

★☆☆☆☆

written by CharlieGarza on 26/01/2016

I spoke to a number of operators in an attempt to get the current years policy schedule which they had failed to forward on when the policy was taken out. I needed this as proof of no claims accrued. I must have spent 3 hours altogether on the phone repeating the same information because they must have failed to record the communications each time. None of the operators appeared to understand basic concepts. Either that or they were being deliberately obstructive. Each one I spoke to said that they couldn't send proof of NCD until the policy expired. In my experience it has always been sent with the renewal letter. Despite reiterating numerous times that the current policy schedule would be sufficient they were not forthcoming. The one positive aspect of my experience with ASDA was that I never had to make a claim. That I'm sure would have been a nightmare. Take heed of the reviews on this site. I would gladly pay slightly more in order to feel that my issues were being dealt with by people who were helpful and knew what they were talking about

“PLEASE DONT TAKE OUT THIS INSURANCE -TERRIBLE COMPANY !!!!”

★☆☆☆☆

written by Martdavies123 on 06/01/2016

I took out some car insurance for my wife in June as I have always been the main driver due to being a British soldier and always travelling about. When I took the policy out they asked for proof of no claims from me as a named driver and also a copy of our driving licences. At the time I was going through my HGV licence with the army and they had my licence. I explain this when I took the policy out and they said I could have a grace period of 2 months. That didn't happen they took the double payment for the 1st month then cancelled my wifes insurence. After a long argument on the phone they reinsurened her but had to pay the double payment once again. It has been 6 months now and we bought a new car, phoned up to let them know and they have told me they cant insure her, so I will have to cancel the policy and start her no claims again. Then the cheeky sods charged a cancellation fee of £45 then an extra fee of £27 for administration ! I never really leave reviews but we feel so screwed over by how they treated us, it's shocking. So please, don't fall in the same trap we did!

“THANKS TO ASDA CAR INSURANCE IM NOW FACING A BAN!!!!”

★☆☆☆☆

written by JOWILLOUGHBY on 06/01/2016

I having already a non insurance and 6 points on my license due to no fault of my own, I took out a policy with asda I've had a license for 22 years but always been a named driver on my father's policy, after my dad passed away last year I had to basically start from scratch and a a cost of £104 per month. bearing in mind I've not once missed or made any payments late. so the last payment was taken from me at the end of December 2015 approx 1 week ago. Today I was stopped by the police as it was showing that I wasn't insured and given a producer to take my insurance documents within 7 days, NOT A PROBLEM I SAID AND NEVER ONCE EVEN QUESTIONED THAT I INFACT WASNT INSURED until I got home and rang to find out why it showed to police that there was no valid insurance. the male customer service Representative i spoke to then said I wasn't insured as my renewal wasn't done automatically, when I told him what had happened he basically couldn't have gave a damn and ive never ever been made to feel by any company in my life like this company has made me feel and now had me over for my money then dont want to know. I explained I'd not had any letter, phonecall or anything to inform me i had to renew my insurance, the customer service Representative replied with we don't do that anyway it's up to you to phone and do that yourself!!!!! Then basically said they wouldnt be insuring me anymore now due to my IN10 conviction!!!!! ARE you lot for real!!!!! So I've then looked up the FAQS regarding renewal of car insurance which asda PROMISE THEY WRITE TO YOU IN GOOD TIME TO REMIND YOU OF YOUR RENEWAL ASWELL AS TELEPHONE YOU TO ALSO REMIND YOU!!!! SO THANKS TO THESE DISGUSTING PEOPLE I NOW FACE ANOTHER NON INSURANCE AND A INDEFINITE BAN. IM THE ONLY DRIVER IN MY FAMILY AND RELIED UPON BY MY 87 GRANDMOTHER WHO HAS NO OTHER FAMILY AND LIVES 20 MILES AWAY TO TAKE HER SHOPPING EACH WEEK ASWELL AS RELIED TO TAKE MY MOTHER TO WORK TO KEEP THE ROOF OVER HER HEAD BY PAYING A MORTGAGE AFTER MY DAD DIED. AND HER PLACE OF WORK IS IMPOSSIBLE TO GET TO OTHER THAN A CAR!!!! I WILL BE GETTING A SOLICITOR ON THIS CASE WITHOUT A DOUBT ASWELL AS GOING TO MY LOCAL NEWSPAPER BECAUSE YOU LOT NEED TO BE EXPOSED FOR WHAT YOU REALLY ARE!!!

“Renewal ”

★☆☆☆☆

written by Serge1961 on 21/12/2015

Wanted to renew as it was due called them with their reference. Was asked to answer numerous questions even though I have been with them for 5 years. The girl on phone was very mechanical and very unfriendly no kindness at all. One mistake on the printed document made sounded like I was not a reliable customer the conversation lasted more then 40 minutes on claims and other specifications that I had to respond with a yes . Am very annoyed the way this was handle. Poor telephone conversation I nearly put the phone down. I will certainly look for a more professional company next time.

“Customer service very poor”

★☆☆☆☆

written by BrendaLucie on 16/11/2015

They leave you hanging on a phone line for up to half an hour in order that you can get them to do what they said they were going to do the last time you rang and waited half an hour for them to answer. The phone number is not national rate either. ASDA do not deserve to have customers for their car insurance.

“wouldn`t recommend to my worst enemy ”

written by red_zx9r on 22/10/2015

Asda car insurance will never use again to start with all seemed well set up the policy reasonable price reasonable cover all was looking rosy :) then came the request for proof of no claims and copies of our licence`s so i click the link to go to the self help centre to upload the documents they requested spent over an hour trying to register then nearly 3 hours trying to upload :/ thinking i`d finally done it i`m happy again then the next day receive an email saying they are still waiting for these documents so i also e mail them, the next 2 days i spend 3/4s of an hour each day on hold trying to check all was in order and in the end i actually listen to the recorded message saying if you are waiting on validation and have already sent the requested documents you don`t need to do anything else the next thing we get another e mail saying they are still waiting for these documents so again try to phone and spend way too long on hold and once again take comfort in the recorded message the next we hear then is an email saying our policy was cancelled so this time we hold onto the phone for well over an hour till we actually get to speak to someone who then tells us the image quality wasn`t good enough, at no point did they say to me anything to that point i will accept a small portion of the blame on this on a second look at the image file the front of the licence`s wasn`t entirely clear but i was under the impression i`d supplied what was requested if at any point they would of said to me they needed better images i would of acted on it my wife spoke to them first today at which point they lied to her saying they emailed her saying they needed better images when i spoke to them later they admitted there was no email sent on the date said and after spending over an hour getting no where i stupidly agreed to have a new qoute which in the space of a month shot up by a further £80 is this how they give such reasonable quotes shaft you in the first instance then when your desperate to sort things out hike the price

“Renewal renewed wrongly”

★☆☆☆☆

written by Dwaynep1983 on 14/10/2015

Has a quote for a renewal, phoned up to renew, or so I thought but the details that came through were different. Tried to get through to sort but have been met with rudeness. Have been told I will have to cancel my policy and take out a new one at a higher premium even though they made the original mistake.

“Very poor customer service”

written by 207Ortega on 12/10/2015

Took out insurance and then wanted to amend to add trailer but could never get through on the phone. Always "higher than normal volume if calls". Now trying to cancel within the legal 14 day cool off period. Worst customer service have come across. Avoid this company!

“No communication!”

★☆☆☆☆

written by ArmandoRobb on 24/09/2015

After paying under £600 for my first year, the renewal came in at £2,600 the reason being their under writers had changed. My no claims bonus has still not been forwarded and as it stands i will lose my deposit with my new insurance if this is not handed in before October. All you get when you phone is passed from one option panel to another to then having classical music playing driving you insane and being told thank you for holding. 30 minutes later still no answer. The customer support team contact email who were great when taking my money and giving me my proof of cover no longer reply. I would avoid, avoid, avoid.

I Have used Asda car insurance for over 4 years, and yes you are required to pay in part a sum of money if you are going to pay via direct debit monthly.
