I was dreading flying with bmi having read these reviews (tickets were purchased by the orgnaisation I was consulting for).
What a relief then that my experience seemed the polar opposite to most on this site, hence my review. I fly long-haul a lot with my business, and can only say bmi is right up there with the best, and a lot better than many. Staff were curteous and friendly, flights on time, food very good, seats comfortable and spacious (economy) - the only minor gripe would be entertainment (no choice), but it worked and I rarely watch the films anyway. In all a very positive experience and I'm genuinely looking forward to flying with them again.

the fist time i went on bmi it was brillant the service was good the seats were perfect!

I flew with BMI from DUB-LHR. On time, Cabin staff very friendly. 5 Minutes for bags to arrive at LHR. All in all less hassle and cheaper than others.

Our check in experience with BMI was far from desirable but this was all made up by the cabin staff . They were polite , enthusiastic, hard working, very very proffesional, as a frequent flyer on many airlines i have to say flying BMI is always a pleasure! A real pleasure to fly with such a fantastic airline and commendable staff!

On the 17th June 2008 my wife and I flew premier economy to las vegas, it was a 60th birthday holiday and BMI made it for us. We had been to Las Vegas previously and so we knew what to expect, but the flights there and back were totally superb! I must congratulate the cabin staff on both flights but, in particular, one hostess on the outward trip, for her care and attention to my wife and myself. I had been unable to book in advance "champagne and chocolates" for my wife but Lisa very kindly provided us with a glass of the beverage and some chocolates as it wasn`t possible to book on the flight. The facility of being able to check in the luggage on the previous night was a tremendous help (we stayed over night in a hotel at Manchester) and made the experience all the more "feel good"! We are hoping to return to Las Vegas in a couple of years (it`s not for the gambling -- we don`t gamble) and we will certainly specify bmi as our carrier. Thank you all at bmi for a happy and troublefree two - way flight.
This review has been written based on the troublefree and very helpful way in which our flights, etc. ,were made enjoyable by a caring and diligent staff.

We connected in Heathrow from Edinburgh for our flight to New york. We got upgraded to business class on the way to Heathrow, only because i work at the airport. We were treated like kings on the flight, food was excellent, the lounge facilities were brilliant. Flight down extremely smooth, no problems, took off on time.
Coming back we arrived in to JFK from our Virgin flight at 0800am, our flight up to Edinburgh was not until 1240. This was the week of the really bad freezing fog in Heathrow, I decided to chance it and asked to be put standby on the next available flight to Edinburgh. We waited around 30 mins and then our names were called, we got on, our bags were checked, our boarding cards printed, and checked in and boarded within 5 minutes, we got on the flight, all be it sitting apart in economy, but were very chuffed with the service and the desire of the staff to help us. Flight home was so smooth, i feel asleep, which is unheard of from me as i don't like flying. I cannot fault this airline or the staff, well done and keep up the good work.

I found the whole service to be good and very cheap. It cost just £80 return from London to Stockholm, which I thought was good value for money, and when you book flights online with BMI it is very easy to see the price up front, unlike their sister company BMI baby.
I do think BMI offer a great service, and I have flown with them loads of times over the years; both short flights and long haul, and I have always found them to be consistent. I would recommend however to look on the BMI website before you look at BMI baby, as sometimes you can get a better deal and better service.

I had never flown BMI transatlantic before, so booked and looked forward to it.
Check in was fast - premium economy had their own check-in so took 10 mins!. Seats comfortable, recline well, with footrest.
Service from attendant was EXCELLENT! menu choice good, portions good and very tasty. Thoroughly enjoyed the flight.
