Ristorante Piccolino, Tolleshunt D'Arcy

I've eaten at Piccolino's many times and have always received a warm welcome, always been served excellent food, and never wished for anything more. It's true their steaks are cooked to perfection which is why they're so popular, but everything on the menu receives exceptional attention to detail and can't be faulted. In fact, I love this place so much, I hope people who somehow can't appreciate it do stay away - might leave a table free for the likes of us with good taste who value a small family restaurant.

Strange smell in the toilets?! That's called soap - try washing your hands with it.

We've been to Ristorante Piccolino several times now and have taken different family members and friends, including children who are very well catered for. The atmosphere is very friendly and more importantly, genuine, so you don't get the awful plastic grins from their team. A good basic menu and always an interesting variety of food on the specials, plus of course, they serve Peroni! Very child-friendly (as you'd expect from an Italian restaurant) but there is always a good mix of couples, families and so on at the restaurant. If you want something slick, blingy etc, then go to a chain. However, if you like tasty, genuine service in a warm, friendly environment, then I would strongly recommend this restaurant.

We love Italian food and after reading reviews decided to give it a go...I think the reason they have good reviews is because like on the night we went every other table was having steaks or sea bass not anything from the Italian menu.

Ristorante Piccolino is our place to treat ourselves. We were there when they first opened over three years ago, and it continues to get better and better.

Everything about the Ristorante Piccolino Italian restaurant i8n Essex is wonderful. The food is superb and always served with a smile. They never cram tables in, so you aren't squashed, and of course they sell Peroni, which is a great beer.

The specials can go very quickly, so we always call the restaurant and they will let us know what they are going to be, and they will put them aside for us.

All in all, this is a top class restaurant, and they are very accommodating. The puddings are superb and there is always a good selection of local produce and fish.

Well we have just returned from Ristorante Piccolino to our hotel and boy am I content. When in town I know this is the place for the best steak outside the U.S They even know my type of coffee and nothing is too much trouble. Amazing. If you blink you'll miss this place. Outside it looks like a pub, but inside it's like being in Italy. I have never known happy people like those at piccolino's, try it you will not be disappointed.

Ristorante Piccolino restaurant is now twice its original size but they have kept two seperate dining areas and now have a bar and a lovely open fire to greet us when we arrive on a cold evening.

The food is delicious and the meals are more than enough, we still have not managed to eat their delicious home made desserts. There is also a specials board which are a great favourite with us, we have recommended this restaurant to so many friends and I have yet to hear a negative comment, I wish them every success, they deserve it.
