Beware Quinn direct charges lots of fees including £35 when your policy expires and you go to another insurer. Overall they are Ok but treat customers like just money bags.

As a new driver 3 years ago it was the best and cheapest car insurance company(£1800). I applied for third party, fire and theft I had an accident which was my fault(I disagree)but there wasn't any damage to another car only mine, the front bumper was falling apart. They didn't protect me at all and my insurance from £60 went to £111. Then in 2013 some driver hit my car while was stationary I made a claim, and guess what? Its been 3 months they didn't bother to contact me and my bumper isn't fixed yet, today I received a letter with new renewal where I have 1 year discount but somehow my insurance from £111 went to £139. They explained its due to insurance regulations or whatever. When I asked them why my car isn't fixed yet they said I have to contact the third party because another driver's insurance company refused to fix my car. So again Quinn Direct didn't do anything to protect their client. So I asked them what I am paying money for? I didn't get any answer. I suppose if I had full insurance then maybe they would do something. I will definitely leave them.

I insured myself with quinn when i was 16 and driving a moped. They were then, the cheapest around at the time. When i took out my policy, my cover note took almost 7 days to come through, which meant i was unable to tax my vehicle and unable to ride it leagally.
This then happened again recently, i am now 18 and have just purcahsed a new car, this car also needed taxing, knowing i would not be picking this car up until the weekend, i phoned quinn and asked them if they could send out my cover not unrgently to tax my car, i was told it should be with me in 2/3 days, 5 days later, and i'm still waiting. Still unable to drive due to lack of tax.
When i took out my most recent policy, i was told that free, with this policy, i had breakdown cover, or so i thought. Last week i had an accident, no more then 2 miles from home, well within my 10 mile radius i'm given. I phone the number on my policy for breakdown cover, to be put through to someone asking me what's happened, he says 'okay, just putting you through to the guys you need to talk to' i am put through to a different line, after 5 minutes of holding, where i'm told to call a number they give me, i realise this is the number that i first called. Anyway, i call it again, and once again am put through to the other line, where they again try and tell me to call the original number, when i asked what was going on they said, 'sorry, we're the out of hours team, we cannot access your data'
I will never insure with quinn again, would never reccomend them and am not surprised at all that they went into administration, which is probably the best place for them.

My insurance has just come to renewal with them and I'm getting a new car. I can get it insured £300 cheaper with someone elsewhere so I rang to tell them I won't be renewing. Spoke to a lovely lady but she said there isn't anybody from the renewal team available at the moment to cancel my policy?? So they have taken a contact number and they will ring tomorrow but I will be at work? I wanted it cancelled today as I only have a week until they will renew it. How long does it take to cancel and why is there nobody there to cancel it today?? Bit confused.

Very good value quote for the first year, which then increased by 50% for renewal (fair enough, par for the course).
However, when cancelling my first discussion was not logged (and policy not cancelled). Luckily this was picked up before the automatic renewal (when asking for proof of no-claims). Having seen similar tales, this does not appear to be an isolated incident.

if you never have an accident then great you will have no problems however, when this does arise regardless if you are at fault then you will seee the true colours of this outfit, dismissive, rude and typical horse traders, in my opinion good ridance however, i do have sympathy with probably 50% of the staff who where and are honest and hard working but you where destroyed by your horse dealing tactics.

Insured my car through Quinn as they came back with the lowest quote. Moved house (about 500 yards away) after about 6 months of the policy and customer service staff informed me that due to the postcode being higher risk the premium would be increasing by £72 pounds. Apparently the fact that the car is now parked overnight in a garage inside a secure gated car park does nothing to negate this higher risk. Checked on comparison websites and the new quote is about £1 cheaper than the next best quote. I wonder if this is coincidence or wether Quinn check these sites to see how much they can get away with charging. Incidently obtained 2 new quotes from Quinns own website for both my old and new address (identical details other than address) and guess what? My new address actually came up cheaper.

Been with quinn for over 2 years now. Started with a corsa 1.2 which i brought in july 2007, insured with a prov but later passed in sept 2007. Then brought a Astra 1.4 in april 08, where i did all the quotes with a full driving lisence and when i phoned to upgrade etc i said i have a full lisence but just recent i phoned them and i am down as i prov driver still so have been driving with void insurance basicaly for 2 years, and they have the cheek to say i have to pay £404 in 10 days which is beginning of sept 09. I am very angry at this and am taking matters further, i will be speeking with Ombudsman about them and am not happy one bit with this. I could have got into a lot of bother with the police if stopped for this, and it is all down to them but i have to pay the penelty to upgrade to a full lisence which ive held for 2 years now next week!! Only fault with this company is this, will be going with some one else next july when im due to insure again!

I cancelled my policy after my vehicle was no longer roadworthy and returned my policy document and an accompanying letter as requested. They calculated after an admin fee of £35, I was owed £37. Fair enough.
Two months later no sign of it. Had to chase it up to get refund.

I am not a Quinn policyholder and have no intention of becoming one. The reviews on here show a pattern whereby Quinn settle claims as quickly as they can. For minor shunts this is great, but for Quinn its part of business model to try and turn long tail liability claims into short term, cheap settlements. They do this in a variety of ways by getting people to sign away their rights early on and in some cases intimidating people into settlements.
There premiums are simply to cheap to be believed. Insurance companies such as Direct Line are not stupid, if they could charge a young male driver £7/800 and make money long term they would. Even if you know nothing about insurance when something is to cheap there is usually a reason.
Most of us do not make claims. One glossy brochure is much like any other. The average consumer looks no further than the price and this is what Quinn rely on. Hence they get away without a published credit rating. However if you are unlucky enough to injure friends or relatives when driving your car and you are at fault, do not expect a nice sympathetic approach to your claimants. Look at the review where Quinn asked for a policyholder to confirm his young child would not make a claim - this says more about Quinn than all the sugar coated reviews of their customer service and cheap premiums.

Having purchased my (first) Third Party Fire & Theft premium at the age of 19, being a learner at the time, the premium I received as lower than most other well-known companies by far. When I actually passed, I phoned the Quinn-Direct car insurance care-line and told them. I got a friendly 'well done', and I was told I got an automatic 10% rebate. GREAT!
As my insurance is up for renewal in the next month, I received a letter from Quinn. This had my new prospected premium enclosed - included in the price was a 10% NCB and a discount for already being a customer. This worked out as roughly half my first premium and a good two hundred pounds cheaper than the next best quote from another company!
The reason for the 2 on Customer Service was the fact that when I paid for my policy (online with my credit card), they said I would receive my 'cover note' within three working days, but it did not happen. In fact, they appeared ten working days after the two it should have taken. The policy I paid for was for immediate cover. However, without the cover-note I felt that it was not wise to go out driving until it was received. The rest of the documents were to follow the 5 working days after the cover-note got to me (which they did, mostly). My 'Certificate of Insurance' wasn't included. To make matters worse, my tax was up for renewal in two weeks, so I phoned their helpline again, and they told me they had to send me that, and as far as they were concerned I had lost them. So two working days later I get a 'lost documents' form via Royal Mail. By the time I had filled it out and sent it back, I had to SORN my car. Four days later, I get my 'Duplicate Document' package.
All in all, not the best of encounters! Perhaps it was because they're based in Ireland and the laws and protocols are slightly different?
