I attended the Santa Safari in December. I live two hours away from West Midlands Safari Park but I thought why not, it would be a nice day out! We did our drive-through tour around the animals which was lovely but it's such a shame that some of the animals were inside, like the giraffes and the wolves etc. We then went to spend the rest of our day at the discovery trail and the African Village! I thoroughly enjoyed everything there from the bats to the goats, but there isn't much there at all. I saw the sea lion show which lasted 15 mins, the lemur talk which was 10 minutes and fed the penguins which was about 10 minutes. None of the attractions were open and you couldn't go see the hippos. I wasn't interested in seeing Santa (as I have no children) but my friend did and spend approx 1.5 hours queueing just to see him! So after doing everything (except Santa) we were ready to go home by 2pm (3hours after we arrived)It's a shame really! It would be really nice if they could have more things to do and see to fill time. Nevertheless, it's a lovely place and I'd visit if I lived closer but not again now.

We went to West Midlands Safari park a few months a go (in the Summer).
Upon arrival I was very impressed with the amount of car parking available and the close proximity to the facilities.
We decided to drive round the safari area first. Looking at the map I was impressed with the range of animals on display but when driving round I became a bit disappointed with the amount of animals actually on display. I appreciate that different animals sleep at different times of the day but some parts of the safari took 10-15 minutes with very little to see.
The other thing to say about the safari is - don't do it on a hot day!! - it took nearly two hours due to the amount of stops that are forced upon you (I imagine these are for safety reasons though).
After the safari we went to the main park and had a meal in the resteraunt. There wasn't a massive amount on offer but what was available was good value for money and more importantly it wasn't american burgers!! It was proper food - cooked fresh.
The theme park looked fine (we didn't really go for the rides but they didn't seem too badly priced) and the walk through areas were all well organised.
A good day out but be prepared for the gruelling safari!
