“Honeymoon”

★☆☆☆☆

written by ValerieBartlett on 04/03/2014

We choice this resort because my travel agent suggested it. We we're very disappointed once we arrived. The good things about the resort is the following; very clean, people/staff are very kind and the property is beautiful. Now we chose this resort due to the fact that they have fine dining. Unfortunately, the $5000 plus package that we bought did not include that. For the money that we paid for this place we we're told that all fine dining would be made available to us. For the most part every single dinner requires a reservation and none of the places had any availability the entire time we we're there. The two places that stood out on the brochure we're pay only ($140-$170 a person) and of course required a reservation which was not available either (they all said they are book all week). The other breakfast and lunch spots kept saying “Sorry we are closed now". One place actually said "we open at 5pm" I asked what time is it now”, she replies "4:55pm", as she keeps writing her text message and the rest of the staff are joking and laughing. So we figured at least we can order some room service and have dinner in our room. Not even that. The room service menu consists of hamburger, salad, fruit and fudge cake; literally that’s all. Furthermore, as our week of honeymoon was coming to an end the service became worse and worse. The last two days we we’re at the resort we had to ask for towels and toilet paper; they didn’t even come to clean our room. Just a quick note if you want to visit Atlantis for one day its $140.00 person. On our last day, we ordered some salad to eat in our room because none of the other places we’re open or had an open table. As we begin to attempt to eat the salad we notice hairs in the salad; and I mean hair like it was literally mixed in with the cheese and dressing. So at that point I just said I am done; went bought some chips, went to bed and we came home.

“Would Try Again”

★★★☆☆

written by KayF on 13/05/2013

My husband and I had our Wedding/Honeymoon at this resort. It's a beautiful resort and they offer plenty to do. The staff is mostly friendly but the majority of them act like they HAVE to be and don't really enjoy their jobs, which is very disheartening. I found the whole stay to be very overpriced for what we received, especially the wedding package/pictures. Overall I would try again, but from word of mouth I would love to try the Sandals in Jamaica because I've heard the staff is much more friendly.

“Don't Even Bother going for Butler Service it's a rip...”

★☆☆☆☆

written by elguano on 10/08/2011

My GF and I Booked the vacation at the Royal Bahamian using the Suite and the Private Butler Service, On the paper it look wonderful ! Private Transportation from the Airport to the hotel, Private Butler to bring your drink on the beach and reserve your chair... Suite with we can order food from anywhere... Sound Great!! Let me tell you what happened... First we got to the Sandals Desk at the airport, they seem to have No Knowledge that we had to get private transportation, we had to wait for an hour to get the private transportation... Once we got to the Hotel , Again they seem to have no knowledge we had a reservation! So it took a nice 2 hours before we could get our room... Then To make it short "Their Private Butler Service" Consist of giving you a cell phone and you have to ring your butler ... Funny part about it, they are never available so you have to leave a message and they call you back usually 45-1hr later... So Better Think Ahead if you where thinking about getting a drink on the beach! So basically we haven't seen the butler for the entire trip... So we ended up paying a 1000$ extra a person to basically get restaurant reservation! And I Recommand to write them a review on their website! You might gonna end up with a free 2 days trip! Spend an other 5k$ to see that their supposedly improve themself and get a free 2 Days!!! (That's with talking with a manager ! If you speak with a customer service rep you probably end up with a continental breakfast for free next time you travel there....) Very disppointed of the whole Sandals... On the other side All personnel where quite nice!

“My boyfriend and I had just spent the most amazing...”

My boyfriend and I had just spent the most amazing week at the Sandals Bahamian Spa in Nassau Bahamas. We have never stayed at a Sandals resort before and will now only do Sandals resorts. At the airport, the Sandals booth was very efficient and got us oriented on where we needed to go next. We were picked up by a stretch limo and taken to the resort where we were warmly greeted with lemon scented wet cloths and champagne. As soon as we stepped out of the limo Sandals immediately made us felt at ease and took care of our luggage and brought us to our luxurious room. We had the Royal Bahamian Ocean view Honeymoon Suite. There were breathtaking views everywhere. We got settled in right away and started to adventure the resort with the many features it had to offer. The private offshore island was paradise. The food was amazing with so many great restaurants to choose from. There were unlimited activities to participate in and everyone who was vacationing there was so friendly. The staff was very welcoming and accommodating. By far this has been the best all inclusive experience that we have ever had! I can't wait for our next getaway to Sandals!

“We got married at the Royal Bahamian Resort & Spa...”

★☆☆☆☆

written by Kitcy on 18/05/2009

We got married at the Royal Bahamian Resort & Spa resort, and all in all, we can't say it was a BAD experience. I mean, we got married!

BUT... It wasn't what we expected. The service really was awful... until we upgraded to a suite.

First, it took over an hour for our luggage to get to our room. We were all checked in and ready to go... But sat in our room for all that time waiting for our stuff. (Couldn't change... couldn't shower...) It had been a long flight so that was rough.

The room was "ok." We travel a LOT--I know a nice hotel room/resort and this is an average room. Since it is all-inclusive, the wet bar was stocked--but with cheaper stuff. That was ok, but still noted.

Second, once we were finally able to shower, it flooded. It leaked from the bathroom to the main bedroom area thru the wall--so the area all around the one side of our bed was SOAKED on the floor. It was our wedding week--We didn't want to complain... so we worked around it.

Then we realized we were paying about $5 for a wedding with a wet floor, and decided to say something and ask if we could change rooms. The wet carpet was spreading... Maintenance was sent up, they were alarmed and said they were going to talk to management... and then nothing. We needed to shower, and did, and the wet spot spread more... The next day, we finally called and complained again, and they said they would look into moving us. In the meantime...

We booked a couples massages. When we arrived, they had no clue about our appointment.

My husband to be met with the management, finally, and told them of our problems with the flooding, etc. They were mortified. He said he wanted a new room, but also to upgrade. He paid for the upgrade, and surprised me. It was very nice.

The new room was VERY nice and no flooding. Also, we now had a "personal butler" who checked in on us, etc. The items in the wet bar were much better. BUT! Now they expected tips. (Remember, the resort is all-inclusive. They brag about not having to worry about tips.)

We then got married. It was lovely. The woman who helped us was wonderful--No complaints.

The next day we went to the resort's island for the day. We had a great time on a private lounge chair, but the pool was cold and we didn't swim. We only put our feet in up to our knees, THANK GOD... (There is a swim up bar.) I say thank god because by that evening our legs were breaking out.

Other little things: They didn't have some of the supplies that were supposed to come with our wedding package. Cute t shirts, glasses, and a nice photo album. They said they would mail them, but never did. (I am ok with that. But still...)

My husband spent approx 45 mins (no exaggeration) trying to purchase something at the spa for me... but it wasn't in their inventory so they made him wait. And wait. And wait.... while they found it. It was REALLY hard to be rude, because again, we just wanted to be happy and married... but good grief!

The resort IS quiet, however. That was nice.

Soooooo... In a nutshell, It is worth the money if you don't care about the extras and are willing to pay for a suite. But remember you will be expected to tip.

Again, it was our WEDDING. We refused to let the bad parts ruin our time. But I think if we had been there for a straight vacation, we would have raised heck sooner.

“Overall very disappointing place to take my husband...”

★☆☆☆☆

written by on 28/02/2009

Overall very disappointing place to take my husband for his birthday. We had to go to the Island (Sandals Cay) to get a beach chair most days. The place was old with some old world charm but certainly needs updating. The pictures of the Duke and Duchess of Windsor and some of the letters to and from them was quite touching.. So reminiscent of another era..

Maybe if we had the balcony that our agent assured us that we would have, we might have felt better about it. We had a room on the top floor with an ocean view and one window that slid open on only one side with no screen so we were bitten up by bugs by the time we left.

We plan to try again but this time we will go to Antigua and see how that Sandals stacks up.

My husband and I went to the Royal Bahamian Resort in Nassau. It was our first time and it won't be our last. We renewed our vowes for our 20th anniversary and the wedding was picture perfect. The beaches and the water was so beautiful. We can't say enough good things about how good the people, service, and food was. The shows and activities were alot of fun. They made our first trip to a sandals a wonderful experience one we will want to repeat.

I found this review very helpful because...these people obviously enjoyed themselves and it was lovely to read some good things about sandals as I have already booked a holiday with them at the bahamas resort and after reading some reviews was becoming very nervous about the experience that lies ahead!

“Way to much for a 3 star resort. We have heard a lot...”

★★☆☆☆

written by Skylambski on 11/10/2008

Way to much for a 3 star resort. We have heard a lot about Sandals but have never gone to one and will never go back anytime soon. We have been to the Grand Lido's in Jamaica 3 time ( 4+ Star resort ). So we thought we would try one ...Big mistake.... Sandals cost a lot more than the Grand Lido's do so we thought this was going to be great vacation ..... Read On.
We had to change our room 3 times... the first room in the old building smelt like an old smoking room, looking out into somebody's rooftop, so we went back down right away and asked for another room only to be told we had to wait until 3 o'clock and then come back and they would see if there was any more room. We went back at 3 and they said they had 2 rooms to show us...first they said that the room we where in was an upgrade .... some upgrade. The first room in the garden was on the second floor and was very tiny, the second room was a walkout to a garden looking at a wall ..... the room was much bigger so we took it only to find out that the AC didn't work and the color TV was in black and white. We had to clean the floor because we didn't like walking on sand. Turns out this room was at the corner of the resort right by the main road and where the garbage trucks pickup the garbage for the resort ....might I say at 6 in the morning.
So the next day I went back to the front deck only to have the girl roll her eyes at me....I told her that I wasn't going to spend another night in a room where the temperature was 95 plus. She said they can't upgrade me just because the AC doesn't work. At this point I said I wasn't going to spend the rest of my holidays like this. We asked to see some rooms in the Windsor Manor building and they did ....the first room on the 6th floor had 2 Big dehumidifiers and you couldn't see out the windows from the humidity ...Thanks but no thanks ...next, so we went to the 5 floor with a room looking out over the pool it was by far the nicer of all the rooms we have seen....we said OK we will take it..... $200.00 US dollars more a night. We found out later the resort was only 50% full and we still had to pay $200.00 more a night.
This room had a leaking AC unit therefor the carpet was wet all the time...mold on the ceiling from the AC and the mold on the bathroom floor was something you had to see. The food was average at best ...3 Star resort. One day we could get bottle water all day ..none of the 3 bar's had water ... it's 95 with 100 humidity and you couldn't find water. The people looked like you where putting them out if you asked for anything. Not to say there wasn't some very nice people because there was. It was hit and miss with your room being cleaned and if you got all your towels when they cleaned it. The list goes on ...I think it's starting to feel the pressure from the Atlantis resort...with less and less people staying at Sandals the less and less money they will put back into the place. It ended up costing us $ 5.675.00 for a weeks way to much for a 3 Star resort.
If you do go Please make sure you stay in the Windsor Rooms only.

written by mishka45 on 25/06/2008

In the UK Sandals resorts are marketed as mature adult holiday locations, this is the reason we booked for 14 nights @ £6000 ($12000), we might as well have gone to a European resort for a quarter of the price and shorter flight time.

“My wife and I just got back from our honeymoon in the...”

★★☆☆☆

written by jklogg on 11/07/2007

My wife and I just got back from our honeymoon in the beginning of June 2007, and it was horrible. We stayed at the Sandals Royal Bahamian which I was told was one of their "Premier Flagship" destinations. I can't even imagine what the lesser locations must be like! The service in the restaurants and bars was either non-existent or just flat out rude. The food for the most part was of the same quality you'd find in most chain restaurants. The third day of our trip is when we really realized what this resort was all about. We booked an excursion to swim with the dolphins, and we over slept the 7am departure. As soon as we woke up we hurried to the booking place and asked if we could reschedule for the Noon departure, or perhaps another day. We were told there was nothing we could do and that if we wanted to swim with the dolphins that we needed to buy another package at $200 each. Of course there was no way we were going to give them another dime of our money so we left. After calming me down my wife suggested we just go grab some souvenirs for our niece's, and nephews, and we walked over to the resorts gift shop. While my wife looked around for things for the kids I went upstairs and looked at hats for myself. I took my sunglasses off and set them on a display table, and tried on a few hats but nothing fit. By this time my wife had finished shopping and said she was ready to go so we left. Now there was 1 other couple in the gift shop the entire time we were there, and 30 seconds later when I returned to grab my sunglasses they were still the only couple in the store. I walked up stairs where the clerk was rearranging the hats I had moved around but my $300 Maui Jim sunglasses were gone. I asked her for them several times but she just kept saying that there had been many people through the store since I had been there, and that one of them must have picked them up. I tried to explain that there was no way that "many people" or even 1 person could have made it up the stairs and back down before I returned, but all she kept saying was many people had been through. We decided that was the last straw and went to our room to pack. My wife checked under the bed for anything that may have accidentally gotten shoved under there, and that's when we realized just how dirty this resort was. There was a half empty pack of cigarettes along with several other wrappers and just basic grunge under the bed. Just the thought that we slept in that place gives me chills now! It was horrible! We actually ended up spending an extra $1100 just so we could leave early, and it was probably the best spent money of the entire trip! My wife actually cried when we landed back home she was so happy the trip was over!

At first I decided I was just going to write it off as a bad trip, and forget about it, but after telling the story over and over to friends, family, co-workers, ect... I've realized that I wouldn't want anyone else going through what we went through So I'm getting the word out!

So to anyone considering a stay at an all inclusive resort take my advice and try someone that's not affiliated with Sandals!

We went in Jan 2005 and although it was cold, rainy and windy and I never made it into the pool or the ocean, we still had a great time relaxing. It is a beautiful resort with great restaurants and close to casinos and shopping.

“We booked the Royals Bahamian Sandals resort in the...”

★★☆☆☆

written by TonyT on 13/05/2006

We booked the Royals Bahamian Sandals resort in the Bahamas from all the other Sandals resorts available because it has been rated the best that Sandals has to offer. So naturally we had very high expectations. But, even if we compare this to the 4 star hotel that we stayed in a year earlier in Marbella, we would have preferred our stay in the NH Alanda Hotel and Spa in Spain. Basically, most of the literature and most of the travel agents will sell Sandals to you as Paradise on Earth. Our advice would be, that for the same amount of money you could do a lot better, you just need to look around and read other reviews like ours.

“Sandals Royal Bahamian: ”

★★★★☆

written by tandle on 29/04/2005

Sandals Royal Bahamian:
The staff are soooooo helpful and try and make your stay a wonderful experience. The accomodation was ok but could do with an upgrade. The food was amazing and the quality was astounding. (book for the gourmet restaurants quickly)The drinks are all top quality and the cocktails are available all day long. Take some powdered milk and tea bags if you like a cuppa because milk isn't provided in the rooms only creamer.
