Sun In is fine if you are already a natural fairer haired person, so it doesn't make your hair look red or orange. Sun In does lighten your hair well as I am a natural dishwater blonde, BUT, I made the costly mistake of using it EVERYDAY in the fall/winter with the blow dryer when the sun couldn't give me highlights anymore. That was a huge mistake. I am now suffering the consequences with fragile, brittle hair that's breaking like crazy, right where I used the blowdryer. I suggest NEVER using it with a blow dryer... EVER!!

I used this product as directly, probably less than 10 times in a span of 5 months. It did significantly lighten my hair which I liked, but it also did unrepairable damage. I can finger comb my hair and just feel many pieces so fragile they could easily break if you tried. The product is easy to use and effective, but in the long run it just destroys your hair. I only recommend using it 1-2 times EVER. It is permanent, but remember, so is the damage. I would have liked to of known how harmful this product was before purchasing, especially that it was worse than box dye.

I've always had dirty blonde/ash brown hair with natural blonde highlights, so I decided I wanted to go blonder. I tried loads of bottles etc but nothing really worked, until I tried sun in. It was great, at first I used it all over for about 2 weeks (3 times a week) to give me the colour I wanted, then about twice a week i'd use it to freshen up my roots etc. I have been using it for about 4 months, but recently I've noticed that my hair is much finer and really brittle. It wasn't until about 2 weeks ago I noticed huge chunks of my hair missing, especially near my roots. It turns out that sun-in had bleached my hair so much that its fallen out.. I mean i'm left with about an inch of hair in huge parts of my head, and considering my hair is almost waist length.. its just terrible. Please BE WARNED!! if you are going to use this product, and it is GREAT for lightening your hair, DO NOT spray it directly onto your roots, and DO NOT use it all the time. Its costing me £120 to fix :( goodbye blonde hair!

My hair is a mousey brown colour and i was using sun in all summer and found it great; my hair looked exactly how i wanted it. However, when the colder months came around and i wanted to change my hair back to brown i regret using Sun-In so much! The blondest bits of my old hair have now turned into a rubbery damaged mess that are snapping off whenever i wash my hair, and are disgustingly rough when my hair is dry. I have dyed my hair so many times before and this is the first time anything like this has happened, and the only different variable is the fact i used Sun-In prior. Now i have to be super careful whenever i wash my hair or avoid washing it completely. I advise not to use Sun-In, or dont dye your hair after using it for so long.

I was recommended Sun In by a friend and at first it worked great. My hair was dark brown, and is now a light golden blonde colour. The only thing now is i'm left with dry, frizzy patches of hair. The worst is on one side of my head near the root. It looks as if i have held a straightener on it for ages. it becomes very knotty and will not go! ive had to change my partin around so i can hide it, as it looks terrible! My hair also is very stringy when it's wet. Yes, it worked as a lightener, but the condition it has left my hair in is awful!

When I went to Florida for the summer of 2010, I used the sun-in and my hair went from dark brown to a yellow golden blonde and I have a 100% regret of using this. The color looks so noticably fake and I am sick of it. Plus, it's perminent. You can't wash this stuff out. Then I almost dye my hair until my hair dresser told me it would either burn my hair to a crisp or change completely to an unnatural color like green because of the chemicals. So yeah, if you want to get stuck with hair like mine, be my guest and buy the sun-in product. I recommend using little to none of it.

I thought sun-in would be a good idea to try out on my hair, as i really wanted a change. I sprayed the product on my hair evenly, and gently combed it while it was wet/damp. I then used the hairdryer on my hair, which is good as you can control the shade a tiny bit more.
I honestly thought it was an OK product, however from hearing other peoples stories about what has happened to their hair, it made me panic so i decided to stop using it after a while incase it did something drastic!

not the best idea :/
i bought a bottle of sun in as i was in desperate attempt of a cheap way to lighten my hair without dying it, however after using it a few times the colour did change however it went a slight orangy colour as my hair was originally dark brown. Another problem is that sun in doesn't grow out and bleaches your hair so the only way to get my hair back to its natural colour was to dye it. Not the best idea for anyone, definatley have a good think about what your doing before you do it, it works but be sure your ready for the results whatever they may be.

i had blonde highlights put in my hair but i still wanted it lighter so when we went on holiday i used sun in the strong one on my hair every day till the bottle was empty
i regret it soo much, it is a horrible gingery-blonde colour and i hate it! i tried to go to the hairdressers to dye it out but they told me how bad the product is and that if i dyed over it, it might turn green or dissolve
my hair is now in a horrible condition, it is the worst thing i have ever done to my hair and now i have to live with the colour until it grows out. i am very unhappy.

i used sun in super years ago and it worked fine however when i got fed up being blonde and wanted to go dark brown i went to the hairdressers to have the blonde stripped out and a dark brown to be put on top...my hair went grey as the dye would not take to the parts of my hair that the sun in had been!! i had to have my hair cut off! sun in is ok if u plan on staying blonde however if u want to go brown u have to go thru the nasty ordeal of growing out the blonde and have roots down to ur ears.

I really wish I had listened to the hairdresser who found out I had used Sun In on holiday before going on my second holiday that summer. He strongly advised me not to use it as it is pretty much neat peroxide and combined with the sun, extremely damaging for hair. It is very easy to get carried away as this natural look is to die for until your hair thins and starts to fall out in places. I didnt realise the full extent of damage until I went to have my hair highlighted as roots had begun to show and the hairdresser showed me how springy and dry parts of my hair had become. I am lucky, I have had good conditioned hair all my life and considering the amount of Sun In I used the damage wasn't as bad as you would think. However, if you have naturally dry/damaged hair then Sun In is definately not for you. Sun can be ok if you use in small doses, it does say three applications a week, I would say I was spraying my hair a few times a day when in the sun! Maybe go for Sun In Lemon rather than Super, which is what I did. If it is too late and you have already damaged your hair then get some sort of intensive conditioner.
