I think the Dell Dimension 4100 is one of the most bullet proof towers Dell has ever made. I have three of them up and running constantly. The first one I inherited in 2003. The other two I bought on ebay for 30.00 each just for parts. When they arrived they worked just fine so my "for parts only" plan went out the window. I've upgraded them all over the years: 160gb hard drives, max'ed out the RAM to 512mb [all the motherboard will allow], XP Pro SP3, newer video cards, etc. I have virtually "squat" invested in them and am thrilled with the fast performance [10mb cable hook-up] and here it is November of 2009! So until a cloud of smoke starts billowing out of them ruining components, I will just keep on rolling.

I have had my Dell Dimension 4100 since Nov 2000. It has proven to be an excellent choice. I had no problems obtaining driver support when I upgraded from Win 98 to Win XP. I have also not had any problems upgrading hardware - the original well-designed box now holds extra RAM, two hard drives, a CD-ROM and CD-R/RW, and for a while, I even had third hard drive running off of a PCI-based expansion card. The computer has run continuously with minimal downtime for as long as I have had it.
I have also been satisfied with Dell's service. The original CD-burner shipped with the system proved to be defective, but I made one call and a Dell technician replaced the drive on-site for me the next day. I have also had to replace the case fan, which burned out after two years, but Dell shipped me the replacement part with no problems.
I have found Dell to be priced very competitively. When I configured this system on their website, I also investigated what it would cost me to build a comparable system from generic parts. The prices came out about equal, and the price for my Dell system also included a three-year support contract.
I use Dell at work, and I plan to use them again for my next home PC.
