“Remarkably efficient service”

I have been with Lovefilm almost from its inception, and the service has always been impressive. I routinely get two postings (four DVDs) a week. Out of thousands of DVDs rented by me over the years, perhaps a dozen have not played properly - but a replacement is sent as soon as it is reported and arrives within a day or two. In certain respects the merged Lovefilm/Amazon website is less friendly (no facility to search for previously rented titles, for instance) but in other respects it is better (pop-ups showing film information, for example). Sometimes I feel that the availability of unusual titles has deteriorated since Amazon took over, but there is no way to prove that and anyway the selection is still incomparably better than Netflix (who won't tell you what they have available until you've signed up). I was disappointed to discover that the 'holiday' feature is no longer available, but when I am getting DVDs delivered to my door for less than 40p each, how can I complain? Those who do complain about Lovefilm service probably really are suffering under an inefficient local postal service. But who can blame them when they have to deliver and return DVDs for so little?

“a really efficient disc by post service”

Love film before Amazon was good , and I have found it even better since the takeover. Amazon have taken more effort to identify films with subtitles , which to someone with hearing problems is of the utmost importance . As long as your list is large- I have 100 titles in mine, I have found the turn around in discs is same day, and high priority titles have a very high chance of being selected. I have nothing but praise for the staff involved in this, some care is obviously being taken- and before anyone asks, I have no connection with the company, or friends who work there. If anyone is thinking of signing up for the postal rental service I cannot rate it highly enough- and as they offer a months free trial, what have you got to lose ?

I didn't know whether to join Netflix or Lovefilm - tried both and since Netflix don't do postal discs their selection is weak. Been with Lovefilm over a year, a typical week with no bank holiday's: I post back DVDs on Monday, new ones arrive Wednesday. I post back DVDs on Wednesday, new ones arrive Saturday. Only around 3 discs were unplayable after trying to clean them, no problem informed them and they sent out another asap. Never had any problems with the Instant side either, not a great selection, but they have it on disc.

Turnaround times much improved since amazon took over. Frequently send me my top choices and the instant element is an added bonus. I only wish they had the option for five discs at a time. Overall very happy with the much improved service

Great, I love it. Love film is so easy and simple to use and has never let me down. Films are sent home quickly and the instant version is excelent as well, great quality even on my terrible internet and they are excelent if watched on a big screan, however they do not have a large variety of films on instant so I would suggest by post aswell, however it is still great value for money there is always something to watch for every mood and every one. I have never been let down by the coustomer service, it was very easy to change the setting when I moved house and all of my friend s have agreed it save them a lot of money from buying DVDs so is very worthwile.

“ Lovefilm are better for hard to find movies”

I started with Tesco DVD rental at just under £11 a month. They were pretty good for hard to find films. We like foreign films, some of which you cannot even buy. However Lovefilm took over the Tesco accounts, which they were running anyway. I got a price drop of over a pound and a lightly better selection of movies. What's more they threw in for free streaming films. OK the selection is a little old but it costs nothing. Once or twice there were hiccups with lost DVDs but they did not make a fuss. The DVD quality was mostly fine although the odd unwatchable one turned up. But after the move this has really dropped off. If you like foreign language films, and you can discover some real gems, then I would recommend Lovefilm.

“Absolutely brilliant!”

I signed up to lovefilm (through topcashback) and received a £30.00 Next giftcard as well as a free subscription for the first month. We originally intended to cancel our subscription but were so pleased with the prompt, efficient service that we decided to stay with them. We orignally had the cheapest package but we now have the £9.99 a month package which is the sole cost of our monthly entertainment :) We have 3 boys under the age of 5 so little spare time or money to go out. We have been with lovefilm since March and have not had one single problem with them. All the discs turn up quickly and are received by them quickly, there is plenty of choice available, payments are taken on the same date each month. My only issue is that some old films which I wish to rent have been listed as "currently unavailable" for about 3 months now which I fail to understand as one of them was from the 1980s! Aside from that, I think lovefilm is brilliant value and I have no intention of ever cancelling my subscription :)

“Lovefilm has been great”

I have used lovefilm for several years now and never had a problem. Discs usually arrived fairly quickly and the selection of films is large. Occasionally a disc has not been playable, but I have always had a swift replacement alongside another disc, together with an email of apology. I would recommend lovefilm to anyone.

“Er... Lovefilm is very good”

Been with Lovefilm for years now and have only only ever had one or two problems (discs too scratched to play etc), and these were always very quickly remedied by calling them. Some reviewers seem to have forgotten that the discs will only be dirty etc if other customers haven't taken care of them properly, which is an unfortunately all too prevalent trend when it comes to people looking after property that isn't their own. I've never had to wait on hold when calling them either, which is a rarity these days. When I first signed up I used a 'free for two months' type deal and had no problem with it, I wasn't charged a thing until the third month. The discs have always arrived very quickly, and I almost always get my first choice made by marking a film in my list as 'high priority'. It's just a simple service that has always worked well in my experience. Not sure why all the negative comments... I can only assume it's the age old problem of review sites such as this only attracting reviews from those with a grudge, thereby skewing reality.

I have been with Lovefilm for donkey years, and even before the lovefilm days when it was with Amazon. Their customer service is A plus, and their packages very competitively priced. I cant believe that there are people out there with negative reviews about them. This is what prompted me to register, login, and write a positive review. They are far better than their competitors such as Netflix (rubbish).. I cant find a fault with Lovefilm. I just love them. A loyal customer till the end. Ali

“Superb”

I've been a LoveFilm customer for years and have to say that overall I love it, I cancelled my Sky before canceling my LoveFilm subscription. The selection of DVD's is immense and the waiting time between release and rental is impressive, there is the occasional DVD that won't be available instantly but this is usually less than 1 in 100 that I search for. If you get a rare faulty DVD if you call the customer service department and let them know as or before you send it they will dispatch another one immediately. The priority feature (you can choose to have some high priority to get them before others) has improved drastically, I now only usually get what I have on high priority unless there is a small wait (you'll see this written next to the occasional title) on some due to popularity. The online selection isn't the strongest out there I must admit, but seeing as this is relatively new to LoveFilm it does just fine to keep you entertained until your next batch of DVD's arrive, and their selection of movies and TV programs is rapidly expanding and has some true gems in there (keep an eye on the email newsletter they send out and they'll tell you what they're adding to the service). In my time with LoveFilm they increased the size of the package I was with, I had a 3 DVD package and then reduced it to 2 to save some money. Maybe four or five months after this they increased this package from 2 DVD's to with no extra cost (probably to compete with NetFlix), which leads me to believe they're always trying to improve. Their customer service has always been very helpful and courteous when I've called them with issues in regards to not getting my priority DVD's or missing disks, and more importantly what they said they will do the follow through with. So if you rent a few DVD's out a month or buy a few box office films each month LoveFilm is for you, and might actually save you money. We used to get one or two a week at £4 each we now pay just over £12 and get three a week, and use one of our 3 discs to watch TV series like Lost (available on LoveFilm steaming) The Wire etc. something our DVD rental store didn't offer.

“3 years and not a single complaint”

Really efficient, really fast ( sometimes disc arrives the day after I have posted previous). Have never once got anything other than my top priority. No need to talk to customer service as all my queries - eg lost envelope can you send a new one, lost disc sorry, or found disc now will send back - all these are dealt with on line with a click of a mouse. Fab fab company, just waiting for them to sign up to panasnic, for instant streaming, but they prob won't now they are with lg and Sony.

“Whats not to like?”

I am on my 3 month free trial from Amazon and so far I have found this service to be great. They are always sending me my highest priority discs, the speed of postage is extremely fast. Having 2 movies out at a time means you can watch a movie on Monday, Tuesday, have a rest on Weds while waiting for next disc to arrive, then watch again on Thurs and Fri. This pace suits me fine. I also think getting the discs in the post if preferable to streaming unless you have an expensive high speed unlimited internet connection. Of they offer streaming too if you want it on another contract. Finally the selection is very good. They have all the classics and recent movies. They also have a huge amount of Japanese movies, including run of the mill Japanese ones not only the cheesy gory ones or anime ones that are popular in the UK. So far so good!

“Good turn-around”

I have been using Lovefilm (Free trial) for 2 weeks now. The turn-around time is very good. Most of the time if I return my disk on Monday, I get another one on Wednesday. I'm on a 1 disk at a time unlimited package. So far I haven't had any issues regarding throttling even though I watch around 3 films per week. Maybe because I'm on a free trial, who knows! I must warn everyone that it is cheaper to rent DVDs from Tesco (powered by Lovefilm) rather than Lovefilm itself. I will update this review if I have any sort of problems cancelling. I will try to haggle with them next monthand get a cheaper deal since Tesco is cheaper!

Im on the lowest game package, 2 ps3 games a month is enough for me. I always rent mew releases and in 90% cases i receive them the next day theyve been released. Provided of course that my list is empty and ive got crefits available. Its unbeatable price for great entairtainment delivered to your door. in about a year of subscription i have only one problem when one of my games has been lost in post. Lovefilm askeme to use different drop off and thats it. Since then i always take proof of postage when sending discs back. People moaning a lot instead reading how the service work first. I.had 3months free as well when i joined and i cancel it after sending back al discs and before the next payment. I cancelled online with no problems, i wanted to check if its.really that hard to cancel and i think its a lot of bs! Then i joined again on lower package and im happy since then.

“Just love lovefilm”

Have been using Lovefilm (renting only) for a number of years now, and have to say their service is exceptional. For about £15 per month I get to rent 3 films or games at any one time, and keep them as long as I wish, with no overdue charges. Once returned (in their prepaid envelopes) you're sent 3 more. You add to your rental list via their website, and believe me its a comprehensive list of goodies to add from. Over the years, I must have saved thousands of £s not buying films or games that have turned out to be naff. Of course if you like the item enough you can also buy it, but Lovefilm prices aren't too competitive here. They have recently started to stream films via the PS3, again included in my £15 package. Unbelievable deal. Just love lovefilm.

“I've been using the Lovefilm service for a while now...”

I've been using the Lovefilm service for a while now and I haven't had a single problem. Sure getting the latest releases can be difficult but there's so many good films I haven't seen from the last few years that I've got loads queued, I did get a game within a couple of days of it's release though. Cost wise it's great, most games are only fun for a couple of weeks and then their done, which works great with lovefilm where you just play the game to death and then send it back, so much cheaper than actually buying games! The people who end up waiting ages for discs probably haven't bothered to queue 10 or more things like the website suggests, personally I've got far more than that queued so as soon as I send a disc back they send out another. The feature that lets you rank how important a disc is means that you won't always end up with the unpopular choices on your list as you can prioritise the stuff you really want to see; after the first couple of discs I've always got one of my top priority titles.

The plan I'm on allows for 2 discs at a time and it is possible to set up more than one list of discs so in my case I've got Films and Games which means if I send back a game I get another game in return and the same with films. I find it works really well as I'm likely to hang on to games for a while but send back films quickly.

I've not bothered with the online on demand films as I don't trust the internet to be stable enough to provide a consistent viewing experience but I prefer getting the discs anyway as with bluray it's nearly always going to be much better quality.

Before i sign up ive read the reviews and to say i was concern will be understatment. Blockbuster became a joke recently (to rent new games u need to pay £5 for 5 nights) so i decided to try it out with lovefilm. I was planning to use it mainly for ps3 games. I got 3mths free code off the internet for 2 disc, unlimited rental for 14.99. For that 3 motnhs service was excellent, turnaround was exactly 3 days, usually the games that were sent on friday evening i received on saturday. Most of the time i got my high priority titles, but i wasnt concerned if i didn't coz i never had 10 titles on my list. Only titles that i really wanted, so any of the titles was ok. Then 10 days before the end of free trial i send all the discs with proof of postage and next day as soon as they received it i cancelled service online - and no problems. 2 weeks later i come back for the cheaper package (5.99 for 2 games a month - enough for me) and up till now i received brand new games that i wanted (fallout new vegas, enslaved) after couple of days. So i really dont understand complains about the service, its a great value for money.
