The Philips Hdr Seem Great Hard Drive And Plenty O
The Philips HDR seem great hard drive and plenty of features,etc.. I already flashed latest firmware to support DVD+R DL and it worked - when the timer is set up and when the programming is coming up the blue light come up in 5 mins early to wait for the time to record as red light come up to record... I don't see any problems at all.. I'm quite happy with it.

In A Period Of 9 Months, I Have Had 3 Replacements
In a period of 9 months, I have had 3 replacements of my Philips HDR W720 hard drive recorder i.e. 4 machines. All 4 units broke down, each with different problems, such as picture freezing, disc tray failure, not being able to record. Philips New Zealand admitted that the machine had problems, and suggested to get a full refund, as it could not guarantee that future failings would not occur. Four machines is an appalling track record, and I will NEVER purchase another Philips DVD recorder.
I purchased this machine and was initially impressed with the functionality. It changed the way we viewed TV.
HOWEVER The unit failed twice in succession. It was then replaced with a new unit which has also failed three times. In each case the problem has been exactly the same and related to the DVD tray resulting in the unit freezing up. I am currently in dispute and trying to get a refund. However Philips are not being helpful - they offer to replace with a unit with significantly lower specification and no guide Plus. Stay well away from this or any other Philips HDD recorder.
