I bought my Thomson from Dixons but at a reduced price due to it being out of box with no remote or instructions, with the correct remote it can do a lot, even including subtitles. I think it's a class act and overall very reliable as mine is now about two years old.

A great box and recorder. The Thomson DHD4000 really feels like Sky+ in a freeview form. You can feel this will be a product built to last, and it loves to be used. With websites by Thomson and home users out there supporting this, and with auto software updates overnight, it's a breeze to maintain and modify. This stands alone as a box that can give you a good range of enjoyment options for Freeview channels. If you find one out there, buy one!! Nothing can touch this.

After a few months, I was looking for a new freeview box because my Goodmans GDB3 had a mind of its own and just did everything but work properly. I read about the Thomson DHD 4000 hard drive recorder on the net and found it in my local Argos for £99, and I got it there and then.
Within 10 minutes of getting home I was making a cup of tea because it was such a breeze to set-up, and it didn't require any input from me after pressing OK. Menus, Recording, Sky+. The feel to it all and a clear picture and sound, put this box above the rest. With software upgrades and its own websites supporting it, you can't go wrong with one of these babies!!
I enjoy some good freeview now, and I have taken my old Goodmans GDB3, placed it in the road and I ran over it in my car to put it out of its misery!! ;-)

Being an ex-Sky+ user I was waiting and waiting for Panasonic to release the TUCTH100 to have the same functions on Freeview. Having waited for FOUR months I thought I'd give the Thomson DHD4000 a chance. This PVR is something else!! GREAT picture and sound-14 day planner (take note Sky) great menus and so easy to use. Panasonic have just lost a customer, as I will not part with the Thomson-and it is £100 cheaper!!
