Pentacrostic, The Pain Tears - The Four-piece Blac

Pentacrostic, The Pain Tears - The four-piece black/death/doom metal band Pentacrostic released their first demo back in 1990 with 'Agony Of Souls'. This was later followed up with the band's second demo 'Welcome To The Suffering' in 1991. Next came the band's first full-length release through Molten Metal Productions in the form of the album 'The Pain Tears' in 1992. The fourteen-track album delivers a dark and morbid black metal offering with a more 'doom' speed . The tracks do pick up a pace as the CD progresses, from the early-on feel of a slow, morbid, sludgy sound that later speeds up to a more 'Emperor' pace and sound.

The tracklisting is as follows:

1. Emanation Of Grave

2. Splendorous Adornment

3. Welcome To The Suffering

4. Lost In The Void

5. The Abstract Limits Of The Unknown

6. Contemplation Of Agony (Your Home)

7. Perpetual Darkness

8. Words In Corrosion

9. Diseases Souls

10. The Pain Tears

11. Intro

12. Some Enigmatic Faces Reflected In The Mirror

13. The Resting Of The Mist On The Cold Lake

14. The Agony Gods

All in all, the CD brings out a proficient and atmospheric black metal album with some changing styles and a constant change of pace. Definitely worth a listen.

After this album came the release of the 1996 album 'De Profundis' and the further 2003 release of the album 'Moments Of The Afflictions'.
