The Movenpick Resort & Casino Is Split In Two By A

The Movenpick Resort & Casino is split in two by a road, making staying here a real pain if you are away from the main part of the hotel. Check in took ages here, the rooms are not to 5* standard and the air conditioning was very poor. I was also constantly badgered by the house-keeping staff for tips. The hotel is right in Naama bay, giving it a very typical holday resort feel - nothing special about the area at all.

Movenpick Resort & Casino Is Not 5 Star As They Cl

Movenpick Resort & Casino is not 5 star as they claim it to be. We noticed that the star rating in Egypt is totally unreliable if you are used to American / European standards. If I use a European standard in the lines of Club Med resorts, I would rate this one as follows:

Rooms: 2*

Food quality: 3*

Pool: 1*

Beach: 2*

Location: 1*

Efficiency of staff: 2*

Children activities: 1*

Other activities: 2*

Maintenance / General Shape: 2*

With regards to airplanes, they cross the skies at low altitudes at 10min intervals. The Russian planes are especially noisy. But this is a problem for all resorts in Naama Bay, not just the Movenpick.

Given the low quality in general, we spent many days at the Movenpick Golf's pool and beach (10min taxi drive), which were better, but still far away from being 5 star.

So don't be mislead by the star rating of these hotels. In the future, I will only stick to known hotel chains and never again venture with these packaged deals. If you want 5 star at Sharm, just go to the Four Seasons, where we had a delightful dinner one evening. I haven't seen any other 5 star place in the area.

Hope this helps.

I was further up the road toward the airport! Yes it is terribly noisy, and the hotel I stayed at (tropicana Garden Palms)was described as peaceful!! As you say, the star ratings are not as expected, though I can't see why. Movenpick & Tropicana are well established chains and should be rated as such. I'd say that my 4* was 3* at a push.

I have to say that I wouldn't recommend this hotel. The general upkeep was poor and the air conditioning in the room was very poor. Personally, I do not like Naama bay and would suggest going to Hurghada instead if that's the kind of holiday you want. So far, my experience of Movenpick hotels has been poor, and this one was no exception.

I went to this hotel in march 2003

it is a fantastic hotel and as far as location is concerned it is the nearest hotel to the beach and to the town centre so location is 10/10!!!!
