My friend Recently bought the 2.5 v6 gsi estate and loves the car its great but hes having problems with it just now, it wont start? under revving when climate control is turned on and it just randomly cut out on him today. it wants to turn over but wont kick in now it wont even turn over just makes a clicking sound and everything just dies, so far ive heard, batterys dead, coil pack, spark plugs, leads, starter motor, ignition barrel and alternator. if anyone could help out it would be much appreciated.

I am 19 ive loved the vectra gsi since my step dad had the 2.0 sri the look and the sound of the gsi is ace!!! i want a 2000 gsi msd but im worried about the cost of running it. are they heavy on fuel and what insurance group are they.

if i was you i would get 2ltr or 1.8 sri converted in to msd or gsi v6 which i did and its awsome and the sound just like merc 6.3 with performance air filter on it and remember to put courtney flywheel in it which i did and the bhp comes to 200 and the torque is unbelievable, even nissan 370z could come next to it when i had the run with it if you want the conversion i know the guy,can do it in 6 days.

Bit late reply, i doubt you would get insured at our age, i'm paying £400 fully comp and i'm 40 with 15 years no claims.
The GSi only came as a 2.5 and the msd are getting rare as only 500 were built.
On a good run motorway and a bit of town and single cariageway my GSi will avg 32mpg but round town as you love the sound of the V6 i'm lucky to get 15mpg

I have owned vauxhall cars for years and this one has to be the best avalable on the road I have the estate and love to pull up at the lights and see the boy racers in there little cars banging music and silly lights and cant help my self cause mine is set up to look basic but not so good for them I got a bad habbit of laughing at them to get them into race mode and watch there face as I sit along side them for a second and then smile and drift awaway looking at there face is. Price less if you can find a good one hold on to it you can get any part on ebay very reliable

hi i have had my veccy gsi for 2 years now , i had a honda accord type r on a 02 plate .i would rather have the vectra gsi,its cheaper to run parts insurance etc.only 20bhp less which is easy gained out the vectra gsi's like accord, scoobys, evos also had a escort rs cosworth that was a ace car just costed to much to keep.

hi i have owned my vauxhall gsi 2.5v6 24v for around a year now. i bought it and i am its third owner b4 the guy i bought it of it was owned by perrys vauxhall as a demonstator modle. i realy like the way it drives and the purr fom the v6 in my case it was tweeked by a company subontracted to vauxhall and was tweeked to 215bhp i bought the car for penunts but have spent a lot on it threw main dealer as thats where it has gone all its life i have had major service water pump oil cooler coolant tank abs pump as the abs pump is a comman problem on them after thy get over 80k miles and the window motors went but nothing thing they all do it on vectras after an age but at the end of the day she has never let me down and she has 130k on the clock but still runs smooth and purrs like a kitten. i have got it in original condition atm it looks great but will be doin some simple mods soon when i can aford to but even as standard when polished and washed driving down the road stil turns heads. i had a subaru impreza ltd edition aswell but was forced to sell it as i got made redundant :-( but will get one agian one day. but i wont talk bout that lol al in all the vectra gsi is a fanominal car like all vauxhalls should be put down in the books like its pre adsesers like the calira wat a car they were i had the 2.5 v6 one was really nice, and have had a astra mrk3 mrk4 aswell as a frontera but all alike theyu are great cars. yes the vectra is juicey round town but its to be expected and on a long run it makes up for it but it makes up for it anyway as its a comfy car to drive and never lets you down. long live the vectra gsi pre 2002

i think the gsi is loads better than a scooby or evo, not as fast but when youve got kids its a great car, i had a scooby wrx sti and like guest 7 said there just to expensive i owned my scooby for 4 years and it had 2 engine rebuilds costing 3,500 each and had 3 turbos yeah it had ova 400bhp.But i like the vectra gsi so much i am going to keep it for a few years,i wish the bloke i bought the gsi off was honist with me about vecta as it needed a gear box .

ive owned my gsi for almost half a yr now. had been after one for a long time and i hasnt disapointed. managed to get hold of a black face lift saloon (exactly what i was after). sent it to get the bodywork back to like-new, gave it a heavy duty service and it drives like a dream. it gives me 3 types of grin, looking at it parked up, driving it and being seen in it. gonna be spending a good bit of cash on it over the next few years on some SENSIBLE modifications, lightweight flywheel, bigger throttlebody 3.8 fpr and more. I wouldnt belive some of the rediculous bhp figures some of the guys on here are posting but i would think a healthy 210bhp would be realistic with these mods.
LOVIN MY GSI!!

I found this review very helpful because...i have owned 3 vectras now and they were so reliable they are awsome cars, its a shame 1 got wrote off,the other got sold, and sold other cos other half wanted 4x4 big mistake now am looking at getting a gsi so what they got the reputation of a reps car i have never had so much fun in the vectra than any other car

The Gsi vectra is a cruise motor you can get to the power if you need it! it is a proper engine no turbo no vtec just a pure 2.5 v6 note which can't be copied with a silly exhaust of a big turbo the note of a v6 is hard to beat.

Vauxhall Vectra GSI has good style handling very good a comfy , i have found mine to be reliable and fuel insufficient
as a gsi owner the car its self is tip top if looked after properly they can look good and perform well when needed as there isnt that many about
so if you have got one look after it and it will look after you.

I've had 3 of these now they are great and people don't know what to make of them really I have spent a little on my gsi msd now I have had the 3.2 v6 out the new shape gsi put back in had the fly wheel changed larger throttle body bigger in takes an had it chipped up.
I really like the gsi looks awsome and can pick up a bargain for not much money loads of fun to have with them 2.

Incredible fun and highly underated, induction kit, stainless exhaust and lightend flywheel remove flatspots, eco-tek valve helps fueling and make sure you use optimax with this setup my msd gsi NO.151 runs 228bhp with this and 271ibft of torque. Loads of fun.

I had the Vauxhall Vectra for 3 years and it was the best driving experience I've had. Overtaking was excellent, the flat spot was cured by putting super unleaded in it. It is a great family car but also has the look and the speed to put most young so-called boy racers standing. Can't fault it, its just a shame that petrol prices etc forced me to sell it.

In general this is an amazing car for owners who have had a basic Vauxhall Vectra, (like me) as soon as I got into it and started it up I knew this was going to be fun, I own the msd version now and it makes a huge differance again on the gsi 10 out of 10.

Hi all I just bought a Vauxhall Vectra gls 2.5 v6 for £300 with 83000 miles I think I got a bargain. The timing seems to be out a litle bit but apart from that is wicked do you reckon I should get it serviced.
