The Kia Shuma 2 1.8LX is outstanding value for money, packed with extras that are options on the mainstream brands

The Kia Shuma is great value for money (2nd hand). Price new isn't bad but depreciation is very evident, losing around half the value just by driving it away.
My father has a Nissan Primera 2.2 turbo diesel and he is jealous as he has had problem after problem with his ride quality isn't as good as the Kia!

I have owned a 2002 Kia Shuma 2 since Jan 2004 (18 months now), and I have never had a breakdown or any other failure on the car. It has remained a consistantly good starter in the mornings, all year round, and has the power to be comfortable.
The interior is very neat, and looks nice with the Leather effect seats. The dashboard is layed out nice, apart from the fact the steering wheel can sometimes obscure part of the speedo. Lots of electric toys like power mirrors, windows front and rear and central locking with immobiliser. Driving position is brilliant with the adjustable drivers seat with lumbar support.
I truly cannot understand other drivers slating this car, it's not at all as bad as other reviews make out. Yes the car is cheap, and the cheapness is in the quality of the car, but it is still reliable, looks good, and has enough power and comfort.
I won't be selling mine in the near future. I feel like I have had a good deal for my money with this car, and would recommend it to anyone (who doesn't expect a ferrari for a KIA price).

The Kia Shuma II 1.8LX family car is a total failure of a car. Certainly the worst new car I have owned in over 20 years of driving.
Required tow to dealer after 2 days, no fault found although recovery agent could not even start it. This has continued for almost two years, never any fault found but the Kia recovery agents (and even the AA when a mate was in the car) CONFIRMED that there was a fault which was not showing on diagnostics. Recovery folk can never start the car but KIA (specifically Norfolk Motor Group) always say it starts FIRST time and has nothing wrong with it.
Avoid like the plague.
