“Start Saving money at the Pleasure Beach”

★★★★☆

written by Sarah156 on 07/01/2013

Every year I go with my family to the pleasure beach. We love going and the kids love going on all the rides and buying souvenirs. We have noticed that the prices are slowly rising but I have just found a new app on my phone called Blackpool Pleasure Beach. It gives different offers for the park and I like that I can navigate around the park using my phone so that I don't have to carry a map. I thought it would be good to share with everyone so that they can get the most out of their money. Hope this helps anyone else that has noticed about the prices increasing.

“family trip”

★★★★☆

written by on 11/10/2012

Me and my husband with our two 10 year old sons visited blackpool as a day out in july. In my teen years my family took us all to blackpool pleasure beach theme park and I absolutely loved it. So I decided to take my sons, we all enjoyed it. We went on a school day which ment we had no waiting to get on rides. We bought a family ticket for £91 which ment we could spend money on lunch outside the park. the atmosphere was lovely. really was a faboulsous day. However the bag search at the gates made it a little stressfull, they removed any food as it wasnt allowed in the park. i would of liked to have known the rules before entering the park.

“Good day out but be prepared to do a lot of waiting around”

★★★★☆

written by on 12/04/2012

Blackpool pleasure beach is a really good day out. There are rides for every age and the whole park is very clean. All the eating areas are done lovely,I did however think that the sales of alcohol was a little to much. It was sold in every kiosk nearly!! The only problem we did have was time it took to get on the rides as the ques were not really that long they just seemed to take ages to get everyone one on and off. Some of the carriages were going out half empty! Also getting food and drink from the kiosks took for ever and again there weren't really any queue's for them, the staff were just very slow or sometimes there wasn't enough staff. It took 45 minutes to get noodle from the noodle bar and I was third in the que and 30 minutes to get a couple of coffees! If the queuing situation can be resolved as we spent most of our time doing this then a day out at the pleasure beach would be perfect.

“Although Blackpool is seen as a cheap and cheerful...”

★★★★☆

written by on 22/03/2010

Although Blackpool is seen as a cheap and cheerful resort, it still doesn't mean you can't have fun. And the Pleasure Beach certainly provides that with many rides and attractions for all ages to enjoy. One highlight about the amusement park is it's amount of roller coasters; here are some reviews of the ones I rode:

Avalanche - A smooth bobsled coaster with many twists and turns. Quite fast and will be a good, speedy coaster for younger people who may not be big enough for the more thrilling rides. Queue times for this ride were relatively short.

Grand National - A wooden, duel-racing coaster which has a huge following for being one of the oldest rides at the park. Has it's downfall for being quite violent and throwing passengers around a lot so wouldn't advise riding if you suffer from sore joints as I came off it with a bad back. We waited about 25 minutes to get on this coaster which was worth it for the experience.

Infusion - One word to describe this coaster would be 'intense!' It's the latest coaster at the park and is extremely fast and thrilling with multiple inversions. Plus it is situated over water. This is definitely one for the thrill-seekers. As we headed for this early and were one of the first to ride it, we waited about 10 minutes maximum in the queue.

Irn-Bru Revolution - Not much of a coaster but it's a fun ride nevertheless. The train travels through a vertical loop forwards and then does the same backwards. Shouldn't wait too long to get on this ride as it's over quite quickly.

Pepsi Max Big One - The 'biggie' at the park. Going up the lift hill and coming down the tight drop is terrifying I will admit. Once you are over that huge plunge, the rest of the ride is smooth and swift and is a great experience. Another for the older kids and thrill-seekers. We were pleasantly surprised to queue for about 20-25 minutes for this as we thought we would have to wait much longer.

Steeplechase - Avoid this like the plague! It may be enjoyable to some but if you are riding on it with someone else, you may be very easily injured. One couple we were racing with suffered a headbutt injury through the abrupt halts and tight turns. Didn't enjoy this one at all. Queue times range from 10-20 minutes.

The Big Dipper - Another 'oldie' coaster, which I enjoyed much more than Grand National. This wooden coaster provides amazing airtime when going up and down the hills and was one of my favourite rides at the park. For this we waited about 15 minutes.

Wild Mouse - Didn't actually get to ride this as it was broken down. It opened up later on on our visit but the queue time was over 30 minutes and we were close to leaving so gave it a miss. From what I have heard it is rather rough being an old wooden coaster, but I cannot personally comment.

The park also has other rides:

Bling - A huge star-shaped flat ride which swings on a rotational axis. Probably the most intimidating looking ride at the park and I decided not to go on. Definitely created for the thrill-seeking people. From what I could see, queue times were not that long.

Flying Machines - The oldest ride at the park but is still a lot of fun. Swing around on a giant platform. Could be quite nauseating for some people but quite relaxing also. Queue times are not long for this ride.

Ice Blast - A tower ride which shoots you up high before falling down again. Loved the anticipation in waiting for you to get flung up and the airtime is good. We waited about 15 minutes to get on the ride and this was at the park's busiest hour.

River Caves - A log flume/water ride which travels through different periods of time and different countries. The run-down scenery was a little disappointing but it's an OK ride for little ones to go on with family members if they enjoy a little bit of excitement.

Valhalla - Amazing water ride. A must if you visit the Pleausure Beach as it combines a great log flume with fantastic setting and scenery. It even features a backwards drop! You will however get very wet on the ride, but upon exiting you can stand in the big dryer and dry off your clothes. Anoraks are also available at the park if you don't want to get your clothes wet. Being a very popular ride, we waited about 40 minutes to get on this, but was worth it completely!

There are many other family rides including Dodgems, Ghost Train, Tea Cups etc. As you can see from my ride reviews, the queue times are great here with no ride going past the 45 minute mark (whereas many other amusement and theme parks can take up to 2 hours for one ride!) I wouldn't necessarily rate Blackpool as a place for a holiday, but definitely take a day trip down there and visit the Pleasure Beach as it will give you all the aspects for a great family day out!

Blackpool Pleasure Beach is the best theme park in england and you do not need to wait hours to go on a ride, you fit in more rides in one hour then you do in alton towers.

Yes it's tacky, but it a wierdly endearing way and the rides are SUPERB. The food appeared fine and I went to a noodle bar, which was terrible. So...don't go to the noodle bar.
I went in the height of summer, and whereas other theme parks would have hours of queues (4 hours for Alton Tower's Nemesis in the summer) my friend and I waited 5 minutes for the Big One. 4 hours vs. 5 mins? Hmm....
Parking was easy to find, the theming i felt was great, the atmosphere was relaxed, and it was pretty clean too. The customer service was excellent, and it may have just been my luck, but the staff were SO nice! *cough* free balloon from cute vendor *cough*

Basically, other than Phantasialand in the snow, Blackpool Pleasure Beach has been my favourite day :D

“I have just returned from a 2 day trip to Blackpool,...”

★★★★★

written by metallicafiary on 23/03/2009

I have just returned from a 2 day trip to Blackpool, for my friends Hen do. 6 of us travelled from Bristol, so we were sure hoping the 9 hour coach trip would be worth it!
When you arrive at the pleasure beach, it can be quite confusing as there are several different queues, but staff there are very friendly and will tell you where to go. Although there were massive queues, we got our tickets and were in the park surprisingly quickly. Unfortunately for us, this was the first opening weekend of the year for the park, and subsequently a few of the rides were closed. My friends started the day with 'The Big One' also known the 'The Pepsi Max' a rollercoaster with a ridiculously high climb. I cannot comment having been too scared to ride myself, but my friends loved it; it seems to be unmissable for thrill seekers. We also ventured on the 'Tunnel of love' a very slow boat ride with dinosaurs and Egyptian mummys - my only criticism is unsure why it's called the tunnel of love! 'Steeple chase' is a fun ride where you mount a 'horse' and rase your friends round the track. Great for a group, but it felt a bit wobbly and we didn't enjoy as much as we hoped as we didn't feel safe! After doing this and running through the fountains near by, we struggled to find somewhere eat as everywhere was so busy. We eventually settled for some fried chicken, which was fairly priced, and the restaurant overlooks the love boat ride. The highlight of our day (and the reason for my writing this review) is the 'Pasaje de terror' which is basically a walk through ghost house with real 'people'. We had never seen anything like this at any other UK theme parks so we thought we would give it a shot. It starts with a scary looking attendant telling you the rules - no running, cameras, no forms of light, dont stop, dont go back...and do not give any abuse to the 'things' inside, because they wont touch you...well probably not!! The first bit of the attraction is a small room where you are greeted by a monk, he told some story but we were so scared we weren't listening! You then make your way through a series of dark passages and rooms. One of our first encounters was a old man with a grusome face and a stick, who jumped out seemingly from no where, and proceeded to limp behind us, banging the stick with every step. This may not sound scary but it is when your nearly in total darkness. We then met Freddie Kruger, who slides up a metal grid and jumps out in front of you. We then made our way into a nursery, which was very dimly lit, and the scariest clown we had ever seen jumps out of the darkness, laughing like a maniac, egding closer and closer. He then told us (shouting over our screams) to follow him, as there was 'a girl possesed by the devil' in the next room. If you hesitate, or freeze to the spot like we did, he will shout at you to MOVE!!! For me, this was terrifying. We walked into a white room, and sleeping in a white bed was a young girl. The minute the 6 of us all entered the room, the girl ('Ragan' from The Exorcist) proceeded to throw herself up and down, screaming and wailing as the bed rocked manically. It all gets a bit blurry here as me and my friends went into hysterics. As we ran round the bed to go to the next room, Ragan leaps from the bed, and crouches on the floor, growling and snarling at us. I managed to somehow fall, and led on the floor screaming as Regan edged closer towards me. I cannot emphasise how scary this was, the girls make-up was done so well, her legs and arms were cut and bruised and her eyes were red. My friend ran back and dragged me out of there by my arm!!!! The next person we met was 'Pinhead' from the Hellraiser movies. I was so scared after the Exorcist I didnt even look at him, but I know he chased us to the exit, which leads you into a pub - where we had the pleasure of meeting a group of lads on a stag do dressed as ghostbusters!!! Who may I add were as equally scared as us. There is no age limit for this attraction, but the advice from myself and friends is DONT take your young children in there!! It is brilliant fun ( we are still laughing about it and probably will be for years to come) but it really is very frightening.
We had a great day at the pleasure beach, it's good value for money and there is loads to do, I would recommend it for any age.

I would recommend anyone to go to Blackpool Pleasure Beach it is soooo good. I went with some mates and had a fantastic time. We went on everyride more than once. We even went on one ride four times because the queues are that short. A mix of rides for everyone. The arcade when you win tickets the prizes are very poor that you can get with them also the staff can be really annoying and pestering or moody.

i think Blackpool Pleasure Beach is one of the best theme parks in the UK. To start, the queues are really short! for example i went to blackpool with my family this year for the weekend and we went to the park on the saturday. I was expecting the queues to be massive but surprisingly the maximum i queued was 20 mins and that was for val halla. The quality of the rides is brilliant too. There are so many rides which are suited for thrill seekers which is really good for me because i love rides but there is also rides for little ones. You also don't have to walk round for ages to get to each ride like Alton towers. To be quite honest the only things they need to do to this theme park to make it better is to tidy it up and re-theme some rides but overall i think BPB is a great day for the family.

The themepark is generally kept very clean & tidy with a great variety of rides and plenty of places for food/drink.
I would strongly recommend 'Valhalla' which is a great water ride, one minute your blissfully travelling through a hot sauna then dropping backwards into the freezing water, fantastic ride though make sure you take a coat.
Other great rides include 'Infusion' which is very fast & fun though over a bit quick. Iron Bru is extremely fun though can make you feel a little sick.
Personally i found 'Pepsi Max' an awful ride.
It was a long wait for a ride which is extremely rough and makes you feel very uncomfortable and unsafe.
Getting into the park can also be fairly expensive but it was a very enjoyable time with a mix of rides for all ages.

The Blackpool pleasure beach is generally very clean and tidy, apart from small unavoidable scraps of litter here & there, eg in queing areas, and very occasionally in rides amongst scenery. Overall Pleasure beach is a completely worth while day out for the whole family.

Good ideas for ride design, especially Valhalla & Space Invader. The park has a generally good layout. It has just the right mix of Wooden and traditional rides such as the Grand National, Big Dipper, and Ghost Train, as it does high speed metal & modern rides like Pepsi Max, in fusion, and Valhalla. The park is generally very clean and tidy, apart from a few scraps of litter here & there. eg queuing areas, and occasionally in rides amongst scenery. A vast majority of the staff have bad attitudes to customer service.

Everything in Blackpool is close and very accessible by bus and tram. There is a real variety of things to do for all ages. Some of the b&b's are not ideal for all people, access and facilities, as well as location.
There are bargains out there for Blackpool

★★★★☆

written by yellowtimechris on 11/08/2007

Infusion the first inverted roller coaster over water!!! Over rock pools more like.
To be honest its good value for wrist band users.
If you had to choose the rides to go on then go on the wooden ones, forget Space Invader2, Avalaunche and Revolution try Infusion even though the Nemisis out shines it 10 to 1.
Most rides bring you out at an arcade or gift shop or the dreaded photo booths.
Valhalla is the best ride of all, take a rain mac and slip off footwear, take them off before you go on the ride and you will get wet feet instead of ruined shoes.
If you want to get into the Beach quicker then enter through the top end of South Shore near the Star Inn, walk down towards the radio shack and get your wristband there.... no waiting.
Most of all enjoy it but take snacks and drinks with you as the mark up is a lot.

I had a fantastic day at Blackpool Pleasure Beach and I managed to go on practically every ride, and some of them twice. I haven't been for years, and yes it's a bit tacky in some areas, but it is clean, and the whole point of Blackpool is FUN! The Pleasure Beach is open from 10am until 8pm, and there was so much to do that the time flew by. We paid £30 for unlimited rides, but it was definitely good value for money, as you can get on loads of them.

I got to Blackpool Pleasure Beach at 1.00pm and went to the Big Dipper which ended up a 30 minute queue which wasn't a good start. Big dipper is fast and entertaining but is very repeated because for all the ride you're going up and down,u p and down and after a while it gets more annoying than fun but still great. Then I went on the log flume which had a 1 hr and 10 minutes queue and it wasn't even enjoyable, the drops are just painful and not smooth at all. All together I'd give this park 9/10

How on earth could you knock wooden rollercoasters? The woodies are the best, these type of rollercoasters are the oldest and were not designed to do an upside down loop the loop like the modern steel coasters, whenever you ride a woodie, it is always different everytime.

Blackpool Pleasure Beach is great fun. My fiance and I went for my 21st birthday and had a brill time. We got an unlimited day pass for the Pleasure Beach and went on as many rides as we could, but our favourites have to be the Grand National, Pepsi Max and Irn-Bru Revolution!!! There is loads to do for any age group and we would recommend the Pleasure Beach to anyone looking for a fun day out or short break. The only downfall to Blackpool is we felt the pubs and clubs along the promenade were not very family or couple friendly, they were basically aimed at single men looking for a cheap thrill, one even boasted having topless barmaids!!

written by Peter25 on 27/10/2003

I'm usually an Alton Towers kind of guy but my older brother and niece invited me and my girlfriend along so we decided to give it a go. The day we went it was a bit over cast and looked to be threatening rain but we went anyway and the weather seemed to work to our advantage. The park wasn't too busy so you weren't cueing for longer than 5min even on the bigger rides. Due to the weather the big one was closed but I wasn't going on that anyway. The Ice Blast (not for people scared of heights) and Valhalla (prepare to get very wet!) were great fun. (As I'm writing this I'm full of a cold though after being soaked to the skin on Valhalla then blasted dry by Blackpool gales!) For the kiddies I would recommend Noah's Ark (even in my 19yr old opinion a great ride) and the Turtle ride (my niece is still grinning now!) Some of the older rides are looking a bit...(er)...old but the carousel and rocket ride are a must. The food in the park is quite expensive so we made a packed lunch and parked quite close to the park so when we got hungry we could wander back and have our fill. We were going to watch a show but felt a bit conned by the voucher scheme, when buying your wristband it says unlimited rides and 4 show vouchers. We took this to mean you could go and watch four shows (if you so wished). When we got to the Theatre we were told the vouchers were exchangeable for a discount to the show and not free entry-this seemed like a bit of a con on the pleasure beaches part but we weren't going to let it spoil the day. When it got dark the park really came alive. The lights changed the atmosphere completely and everything looked more fun. This is when we went on the ice blast. You were so high up you could even see Wales over the sea and was a great (but scary) end to the day. I would recommend Blackpool pleasure beach to anyone after a good time and is a must if you are holidaying in the area.

Hi, you should have had a confirmation email at least with your booking details. If it is the same as the pleasure beach, you show these details when you arrive for entry. I would contact them by phone.
