Recently rented a car from Poitiers, France. Returned it undamaged before opening hours (as arranged) only to receive an email ten hours later when we were back in the UK saying that the car was damaged. They've taken 1000 euros from our credit card but keep failing to send photos of the damage and a repair invoice. “Hidden costs, dubious methods”

Enterprise advertise 'no hidden costs'. In fact there is a £1000 excess for even the most minor damage and this is multiplied for each damage , so three 'dings' equals £3000. Their damage waiver insurance is pretty much as expensive as the hire cost itself but still leaves an excess to pay. The agent 'noticed' a small screw in a tyre, which may even have been there when we picked up the vehicle if it was in the tyre in contact with the ground. “Overcharged ”

I had a car rented it was delivered back early , they charged an extra insurance they said I would get a refund , 4 idiots have phoned me and said my refund was on its way after 5 weeks still nothing Rubbish company to deal with , avoid this company as they just overcharge you and you cant get it back… Read Full Review

for the first time in my life i have rented a car from enterprise. it was a very bad experience. Booked car on line last minute Friday for family trip to London paid with credit card in my wifes name all was ok got ususl messages time to pick car up location ect. said payment taken just go get keys get going so Monday go with family to get the car and get there the staff in leeds depo was rude didn't even say morning or look up asked for my licence then stopped said I cant drive car as I paid in wifes name not mine but all forms filled ok with my name my details said sorry cant help… Read Full Review

“Enterprise misleads you on their websites about refund...”

Enterprise misleads you on their websites about refund of money if you use the car for less days than you originally booked. Their staff will use all tactics to make you add various insurances for the car hire which are extremely expensive. Even though say that they charge for any deficit in petrol from when you hired the car to your return, they charge exhorbitant rates for petrol which is way more than any petrol pumps in the country… Read Full Review

“deplorable customer service.”

had a terrible experience at enterprise,we were given a car with food stained seats after waiting half hour, offered another car which also needed a clean but had an appointment to meet.the rep was very sorry etc the rep spent about 10 minutes placating us whilst informing us the car started and stopped on the button,no other instructions i checked around the car for damage,we were told we were getting a like for like car so went to a garage to fill up.my car is petrol so put £40 in to find it… Read Full Review

Enterprise car rental not all below 25 to rent car. Even with young rental fees. This is their reply

Thank you for contacting Enterprise Customer Services. I will be happy to assist you today.

Where you are renting a vehicle yourself , any additional drivers would be required to be 25 and over to be included alongside you on your rental.

Drivers under 25 years of age would be unable to be an additional driver on your personal rental.

When Enterprise came to pick up a hire car, they managed to damage a neighbors own car, which we caught on film! They barely offered an apology to either us or the neighbor, and then say that their customer service is US customer service in the UK! This doesn't look like good customer service in any country! Enterprise catch phrase is "car hire with US customer service", does this look like customer service in any country??? As they were picking up my car they crashed it into my neighbour’s car in our carpark! What did they offer after they damaged my neighbour's car as they picked it up from me? “Questionable business practices and erroneous charges ”

While my vehicle was in for repair I had an Enterprise rental. The Enterprise employee specifically instructed me that if I have an i-Pass transponder I only needed to have it in the vehicle, and no registration would be required... A month later I am receiving daily email invoice letters from Enterprise for every toll I went through, amounting to hundreds of dollars in ridiculous fines taxes and erroneous fees. “Plus Member since 2010, just lost my business”

I have been a frequent renter since 2010- earning multiple free rentals. I always use a debit card for my rentals, and expect to pay high deposits for this. I had a reservation on January 16, 2018 at Phx Sky Harbor Airport location flying in from New Orleans for a 1 week rental. When you use a debit card for an airport pickup they require you to have a return flight for them to confirm. I did. Despite immediately providing the rental details, venue, charges and refunds dates and 'looking forward to hearing' from her, I have heard NOTHING MORE of Enterprise's Social Monitoring. Clearly, a very busy lady with so many disgruntled renters posting complaints. Hardly surprising when it took TWO MONTHS to respond to my original post. Also worth checking out Martin Lewis' MSE website where they cite ALL THREE ENTERPRISE STABLEMATES - Alamo, National and Enterprise - as drawing down rather than ring-fencing excess credit card deposits in the event of possible damage to a vehicle where no in-house excess insurance has been purchased. Make your own car rental decisions from that!

“Enterprise are a joke”

Hired a car for 3 days on the 18th December, when the car was returned to Newcastle Airport it was inspected and the lady said she would email the invoice later as she was too busy. Instead they charged £1000 to our card for damage that did not exist. No evidence sent and no communication, we will report to Trading standards and the police in the new year as we suspect fraud. I have received now after a lot of complaining £900 back and that they have kept £100 for miscellaneous damages, which still have not been communicated to me and they will not disclose, probably because they did not occur! I do not have the energy or need the stress to pursue the £100. I’ve just decided to write it off as a bad experience. But will never use Enterprise again and also will continue to advise others not to do so.
