NEC e338

This is a great phone all round. I got mine about 4 months ago, and I have still not found a problem.

The NEC e338 mobile phone has a great camera, free web browser, and as with all 3 phones, a great selection of games and ringtones etc.

The colour display is crystal clear, and the sound quality is second to none.

I would definitely recommend this to anyone. It's great!

I got this NEC e338 phone free, and I'm glad I didn't pay for it! While it is an ok phone, it does lack some style, is definitely on the large size. I found the buttons too close for comfortable texting, and the number of menus you need to go through to send a simple text too many. I feel it has a lot of small annoying features, comes with no games, and I can't find the MP3 player as another reviewer on this site mentioned!

Things like there does not seem to be an audible alert reminder if you miss a call or text if you are out of the room for example, you need to open the phone every time to check for missed calls etc. Even the outer LED does not appear to flash if you miss a call which would have been useful.

When the low battery alert comes on, my phone shut off within 1 minute! On all other phones I've had you get a low battery reminder while you still have SOME power to make a few last calls!

Although the phone has some good poly ringtones, there is not 1 'normal' ring tone. I for one prefer my phone to actually ring, not sound like some tinny radio doing a dance track, even though these may be popular.

Strangely when you want to take a photo with the excellent camera, you have to press 'video' and have the legand 'video' on the screen before you take the photo - conversely you need to have the word 'photo' displayed to take a video clip! Weird. The rotable camera is better than others I have used though.

Overall I would say its only an OK phone, suitable for someone that does not want or need the very best all singing all dancing most upto date phone. There are lots of faults with the phone, but enough good points to make it usable. Try before you buy.

I recently dumped the Motorola C975 for this NEC e338 Mobile Phone and it's excellent!

The camera... needless to say rotatable is still a perfect display, and the video playback is excellent.

Some people complain about 3's network... but if you use your phone a lot this is perfect. The downloadable ringtones are fantastic. Games however...(not ALL the games) are poor. I got 2 games with the phone - both rubbish. 3 Have a good selection of games though... this phone keeps me busy all day!

The NEC e338 is amazing!! I got it for only 70 pounds and it's a 3g phone! As well as having the normal things on it, it also has:

MP3 player

Video player

Voice recorder

Good Graphics

Very good camera

Very large screen

The only thing I was disappointed with was the network 3. It is 15 pound a month to top up and you have to pay it once a month on PAYG which is really ridiculous. (Cant wait to get it unlocked so I can start using 02 again!!)

But overall It's a great phone and I wont be buying a new one for a long, long time :D

All in all I have been very impressed with the NEC e338, the main reason I bought it was the price - £45 with £15 credit - bargain. I knew when I bought it that it was designed to be a basic phone so I wasn't upset when it didn't have all of the features of some other phones - bluetooth would have been nice but you cant have everything and the speaker phone function makes up for it.

It doesn't have an mp3 player or anything like that but it does have a voice recorder and a few games to keep you busy. I'd recommend this phone to older people who aren't obsessed with bells and whistles - I can see a teenager being a bit disappointed with the lack of gizmo's.
