I would recommend this Canon 560i to anybody out there looking for a good printer for a smart price. This is the printer to go for as it is stylish, compact and quiet and produces great photos and documents.

I was looking for a good quality printer that was cheap to buy and run.

The 560i connects to a PC easily via USB. It does not have any slots to read memory cards directly, but it does have an additional USB input on the front if you want to connect up your camera and print using Pictbridge.

A big selling point for the Canon printers is the price of replacement cartridges, which are typically much cheaper than those from HP or Epson.

This printer takes four ink cartridges (a large BCI-3eBk black cartridge plus smaller BCI-6 ones for cyan, magenta and yellow). Replacement cartridges can be bought on the internet for under £2.50 each for compatibles, or as little as £5.62 (colour) to £7.30 (black) each for the proper Canon part. The black ink cart is supposed to do about 450 pages of text.

Print quality is very good. The 560i handles a borderless A4 print from a digital camera very nicely and reasonably quickly too. The thing I was most surprised about was how quietly it printed (at least in comparison to my old Xerox).

Software is also good, I particularly like the easy-print software, which I now use to print all my digital photos.

I had the same printer and needed to switch to a more multi-tasking printer which should be best for bulk printing. Recently got a Phaser 8560DN from freeprinterpromo for free. The only catch is that you need to buy the supplies from them. But it is still well worth it after 6 months of usage.
