We Have Just Returned From A Week Half-board At Ho

We have just returned from a week half-board at Hotel Clumbamar. Not impressed by hotel at all. We had requested a quiet room over-looking pool on a high floor. We had a room on 3rd floor right beside road! The reception staff were not very friendly and mostly found it impossible to smile or speak. You were lucky if they looked at you when you handed your key in. The rooms are extremely basic with twin beds, wardrobe & dressing table - no hairdryer or toiletries supplied and no tea/coffee making facilities available (even to hire). Walls are so thin you can hear everything that is going in nearby rooms and impossible to sleep before midnight or after about 7.00am due to noise in hotel (cleaners etc). Room only single glazed and as were overlooking the road we had the joy of hearing the dustbin lorries every morning. The restaurant staff would take you to a table and point to where they wanted you to sit - they never wished us good morning etc and made no attempt to be friendly. The food was virtually the same every day and was never hot - you were lucky if it was lukewarm. Chicken served every day! We ate in the restaurant 3 times and then decided to eat out even though it was paid for. On half board you are charged for a drink with your evening meal - a glass of soft drink will cost you 1.80 euros! Hotel mainly seemed to cater to German visitors rather than English. Overall we felt the hotel spoilt our holiday and we are usually quite easy to please. The resort is lovely, it may be a bit quiet for families with older teenagers but plenty of bars and restaurants available nearby. As we don't tend to lie by the swimming pool every day I do not know the situation regarding sun-beds etc but didn't hear too many complaints from others. In the bar, the staff again were not at all friendly and all drinks are served in plastic cups - evening entertainment was dire.

My Husband And I Enjoyed Our Holiday In Clumba Mar

My husband and I enjoyed our holiday in Clumba Mar. The staff were friendly and helpful, especially when I was trying to speak spanish! The resort and beach is really nice and there are plenty of bars and restaurants to choose from. I thought the choice of food was poor and we more or less had the same thing everyday, but we were forewarned about that anyway.

The only thing that spoilt it for us were the English people - they were ruder than the Germans.

the Bar and Restaurant Manager, in my opinion, is the most helpful person in the hotel and we will be coming back to see him next year. Hasta Luego!

This Was My Second Visit This Year To The Stil Clu

This was my second visit this year to the Stil Clumba Mar Hotel and must say it was a fab holiday plenty to do beach not more than 5 mins walk from hotel and shops but I will say I went middle of October and was near end of season and resort was slowly shutting down but still lots to do I recommend the market on a Friday for little gifts. Also must say the staff are great always well turned out and clean uniforms always happy to help.

will be returning again in may and October 2009 already booked

as a single person going on holiday this hotel is ideal as plenty of people to chat with in and out of hotel plenty of local bars with friendly staff i recommend Blondie's which is at the side of the hotel some of the nightclubs are expensive drinks wise but they are a must

Just Returned From The Clumbamar, The Location Was

Just returned from the Clumbamar, the location was great, just 5 mins from beach and main high street, food was of very good quality, plentiful and well presented, especially the desserts & cakes!! Plastic cups which everybody has been complaining about were clean apart from about 3 or 4 over the week, but then wouldn't you check them before drinking from them? Beers, wines and soft drinks were all self service at various points so there was no queuing, even when ordering spirits there was no queuing as there were always loads of bar staff. In the dining hall the staff were always friendly and on the ball, as soon as you finished one course your plates were always removed before you got back to your table with something else, again thanks to plenty of staff who were on the ball. Room was cleaned all 7 days and towels were changed when left on the floor. Not much entertainment for kids which didn't worry me as I didn't take any! Night time entertainment wasn't great but was OK, consisted of Gary Glitter who was brilliant and Neil Diamond who was quite good too. Didn't have much to do with the Reps but did note that a rep who has been the subject of many complaints had been removed. Only problem was we were on the 2nd floor facing the back of the hotel and the road was noisy with noisy boy racers but once the door was closed it was OK, slept really well. The bar manager the overall hotel Manager run an efficient and friendly establishment.

So to sum up a great relaxing holiday at a reasonable price, would definitely go back again.

Room - Basic But Cleaned Every Day, About The Only

Room - Basic but cleaned every day, about the only good point. No TV.

Food appalling - lukewarm if you were lucky but cold by the time you sat down. Appeared to be mainly deep fried frozen. Snacks at bar over road disgusting chicken or tuna sandwich was in fact just paste sandwiches.

No Kids Club at all. So loads of screaming kids all day around pool. No entertainment staff.Just half hour mini disco in the evening for kids.

Drinks - Plastic glasses not very clean. You are not allowed to have a bottle of water, only a glass of water. One night we took a bottle of water to our table and the waiter took it away saying we weren't allowed a bottle only glasses.

Thomson Rep - No rep on coach from airport. Resort rep a joke he didn't tell us about welcome meeting and didn't seem to care about guests when we raised our concerns with him.

To sum up this was the worst holiday I've ever had Hotel Clumba Mar. Do not go there.

Really Nice Staff, Great Location For A Quiet Fami

Really nice staff, great location for a quiet family holiday and good excursions. Not good for young adults as there isn't much night life. Food was ok but could be better, although the Nachos were great! Very clean and hospitable and the kids clubs were great.

The Hotel Itself Was Lovely. The Staff Looked Like

The hotel itself was lovely. The staff looked like they wanted to be there and took pride in both their appearance and their attitude to work. They looked after you when you went to the restaurant at any time of the day. The entertainment leaders were not forcing you to take part in the games or activities and they were up for a laugh. The accommodation was lovely there are no complaints.

To Start Off The Holiday I Just Have To Say The Co

To start off the holiday I just have to say the coach trip from the airport was a nightmare. We were led to believe it'd be 90 mins at the most but some 3 hours later we finally got to our hotel at 11pm.

Last orders are called at 11.50pm but they switched off the coffee machine before and didn't serve me. Was this due to me asking for one the night before?

The drains in the bathroom would really smell bad somedays but not every day.

There was a strange dress code in the dinner room at night which meant men couldn't wear shorts (or anything other than full length trousers), vests or hats/caps even though it was just a buffet. However in the same room for breakfast it was ok to wear shorts and vests. On my last breakfast i tested the rule by wearing a cap for breakfast and was made to remove it strangely enough and as punishment or coincidence I was put on the table next to the plate cleaning station. There were no rules for what women could wear in there though and it was ok for a woman to wear just a bikini.

We asked at the reception about how much the key for the safety deposit box was and instead of an answer we got the receipt written out for us. 22.50 euros to which we only got 5 euros back which was tight.

The thomson rep that did our greeting was only interested in one thing, selling us the pirates trip which just happened to be the mot expensive trip too. After our nightmare coach trip to start with we really didn't fancy doing a trip but we were made to feel that we couldn't leave without putting our names to something as she said she'd be back. We somehow sneaked off and then she never said another word to us.

But to leave on a high note..... the bacon in the mornings was really nice and the pilot was brill on the flight home.
