“The worse gym in London ”

★☆☆☆☆

written by Juliana139 on 31/10/2016

You have no space to breath in CW! The training area is busy, the stretching area is busy, the changing room is not big enough. If you need to use a gym at peak hours this is the worse.

“The most disrespectful staff”

★☆☆☆☆

written by on 23/01/2014

I would not recommend the Marylebone gym as the staff are a law unto themselves. I was prevented from entry and harassed about a debt for two session which had already been paid for. I provided proof that the sessions had been paid for and got no apology. I booked sessions where the trainer did not bother to turn up on three occasions and there was no replacement. I was charged a late cancellation fee when I had in fact cancelled. On complaining, my membership was cancelled with no refund. This is a gym that is only interested in taking your money and the staff have no respect for their obligations to the client after payment. They all have massive egos and no manners. It is impossible to speak to anyone above the actual gym managers so that there is no recourse for you to complain - it is blocked. Beware!

I agree. It seems like the gym is purely for the staff and management. For them the members are a nuisance and are only needed for the money. They want your membership fee but harbour jealousy towards members and take off on power trips towards the paying clients.

“Do not use this gym, exclusive my back side”

★☆☆☆☆

written by on 15/04/2013

For those who are looking at an gym, please do not use this gym. Here are the reasons for this: 1. The gym classes it's self as exclusive, do not believe this. The gym at best is above average and only due to the different equipment available. Many gyms are beginning to have all this equipment but less cost. 2. Once you have signed on the dotted line, you have a 3 month period if you decided not to go no more. Nearly all other gyms have 1 month period to leave. 3. The cost to go per month if not under an corporate membership, costs £130. For that you should be getting the best equipment, best trainers, etc. Gyms now are ranging between £20-£40 per month and you get the same things unless the equipment you want is not always used in gyms. 4. Trainers, some of them think they are superstars or people are led to believe they are these world class instructors but again you can get trainers in normal gyms with the same experience and plus you are not getting rip off with the charges they give to people. Many of them do not even help normal customers if they are doing something wrong and only care about their clients. They even sit around on their iPads or moaning to their clients or even worse talking about other customers using the gym. 5. Management, from what I have heard from other people and also to the comment below, their policy needs changing. If you have an complaint about the gym, trainer, etc, they would change the issue around and then push you out of the door. I could go on about this gym but I would stay clear of it. This gym is really for people who wants to spend and willing to have wool covering their eyes with this place.

“discrimination by Third Space management”

★☆☆☆☆

written by on 06/12/2012

My favorite shirt was ruined by a faulty hanger at the Third Space. I complained to the manager on duty about the incident. He told me that he did not know what to do about that. I suggested he invest some time in experiencing services of any premium brand that the Third Space claims to be in order to figure out how to treat customers. In response he sent me an email saying that with the blessing of the CEO of the gym, he terminates my membership for complaining to them how they run the gym. Think they over flexed their muscles. Melanie Cantor publicist is tweeting about the ridiculous way the Third Space treats customers. All that on the heels of the Third raising fees again for the premium services. Do not waste your money on this establishment.

“Rudness”

written by on 19/11/2011

I've never seen such a bad attitude in a gym, trainers are ridiculously rude and inpolite. Everybody treats you like if they were the ones paying you. Worst experience ever. Even cheap small gyms are better than this.

Totally agree, the management of the third space need lessons "how to be polite or how to treat people in the service industry".

The problem starts at the top. The CEO has no interest whatsoever in client opinion or complaints. Just out to make money. The management has no training in customer service or respect for clients who are paying their wages!

“High price, appalling service, even worse attitude”

★☆☆☆☆

written by Miket66 on 19/10/2011

Every bad review you have read describing the horrible attitude of the staff and management at Third Space rings true. It's one of the most expensive gyms out there but you have to suck up the bad attitude in every dealing youhave with them. They love themselves but they couldn't give a monkey's about the clients. It's one of those places where the staff are in a clique and they don't care about the customers. We cancelled all our corporate memberships after they cancelled a key part of their agreed service to us - and then tried to make us continue paying. Find somewhere cheaper and better!

Is this review in regard to the Soho or Marylebone branch of TTS? As the Marylebone branch only opened in April I am guessing this is Soho. Soho to Baker Street is a fair way to travel for a gym in my view!

I hate to be cynical but was this comment written by an employee at FF by any chance?

“Worst gym experience I have ever had. I've been a...”

★☆☆☆☆

written by on 21/01/2011

Worst gym experience I have ever had. I've been a member here for almost a year and I will not be renewing my contract. I don't know where to start. The staff are incredibly incompetent and rude. Customer service is a joke. They basically sell you a very expensive membership and once they have you under contract do absolutely nothing to help or make sure you're happy. I have complained numerous times, calmly, diplomatically but they never get back to you. I spent a half hour in the office speaking to the floor manager nicely and calmly regarding some of the issues I had experienced in the club she seemed quite understand and told me that I was totally right and somebody would call me or email me soon. It never happened.

I recently booked a few personal training sessions at 60.00 pounds an hour thinking I would train with someone a few times a week for a few months I was ready to buy 20 sessions - THANK GOD I DIDN'T. On Both occasions the trainer showed up 15 mins late and left after 45 minutes - charging me for the full hour. He talked to other people through out our whole workout and left me basically to do the weights on my own. At one point I asked him how many reps I had done and he said " Oh sorry where are we at, again? " WHAT A JOKE!

The staff have no sense of humility or concern for your comfort or satisfaction. The receptionists are snappy and cold.

The change rooms are over crowded and not up to par for being the most expensive health club in London.

The gym has often been closed or shut randomly and suddenly for water problems or electric problems. And no talk of reimbursement of days fees. They just send out a text the morning of.

The owner of the gym is a complete moron also. And rude at that.

After many a happy experience at other health clubs before coming to London from the states, I have to say this is handsdown not only the worst, most upsetting experience with a gym but also ironically, the most expensive. I don't mind paying for something that's worth it but this gym just infuriates me.

If whomever owns the 3rd Space Gym has any pride at all they should sack every member of their rude and unhelpful staff, and start again. I've never paid so much for the 'priviledge' of being a member where you are treated with such hostility and blatent dis-interest.

I'd read about this gym for a number of years and thought I'd treat myself having previously been a member at Cannons and Holmes Place. What a waste of money. Currently trying to get an appointment with a personal instructor which seems to be impossible - every time you complain they give you a 'personal training session' as compensation. Problem is, the trainers are then never available.

Dirty, horrible environment. Much better off joining a cheap gym with good equipment and paying for any extras you need.

written by on 17/02/2009

This gym has gone downhill so much since it first opened that after years of denying and trying to live with its shortcomings I will give in and give up to defend this place and look for a different venue. Many might still be impressed by the shiny looks of the interior, but be aware there is more to it and it is by no means any better then an average gym. Due to its massive difference in pricing one dares to hope it would be better here.

A place where people think that the more they pay, the better the results. I get better results from battered dumbells and a steep hill at the local golf course.

“First, to be fair, i am not a member of Third Space...”

★☆☆☆☆

written by SpinningGirl on 11/05/2007

First, to be fair, i am not a member of Third Space and have only paid one visit as a guest of a member. I am a member of Holmes Place.
First Impressions: Tatty and in need of some attention. The food / deli area was dirty and cramped and was like something akin to a railway fast food joint. Reception staff pleasant enough. Layout of the space is cramped and confusing with bad signage. Tiny stairways where you have to wait for whoever is going the opposite way to you to finish first. Changing rooms (female) - OK. Again cramped and not much sign of anyone cleaning and tidying which is a constant at Holmes Place. Nice range of toiletries but nothing to justify the cost.
Spinning class - very poor. Instructor did not check for injuries, beginners or anyone needing help with setting up their bike (which i don't - I'm a seasoned gym goer but these are essentials in welcoming people to the class). The pedal fell off my bike during the warm up. No help was offered and the bikes are not numbered for reporting problems. I was lucky that the pedal came off during the warm up - had i been standing or cycling at speed with a lot of resistance then i would definitely have suffered an injury. My friend and i spent the next 5 mins getting covered in grease and trying to repair the pedal before giving up.
The class itself is just in a corner or the gym so no "class feeling" and no control over lighting and mood. Instructor did not use a mic and i could not hear a word he said throughout the entire class. The class was badly constructed with an intense first 10 minutes or so (without real warm up) with the rest of the class declining in intensity. The reverse of what you would expect in terms of injury prevention and fitness improvement although interval training was included but with too long rest periods to gain real benefit. There were a good ten people in the class who had absolutely terrible technique on the bike. No effort whatsoever was made by the instructor to correct poor position on the bike (I'm sure my technique is not perfect but it's the instructors job to encourage you into the correct position and thereby get the most gain from the workout and minimise your risk or injury). The instructor had no rappor with the class and did not, in my opinion, motivate in anyway. The class was ultimately boring and the exercise technique repetitive with no structure. I agree with some of the other reviews I've seen here on instructors at Third Space - they seem to think it's their own personal training time.

Gym area - a few mats provided for stretching and cooling down - nothing special and again small and squashed in.

Showers - ok - nice hair products but low water pressure and tatty shower area.

Overall - Space is a big problem at this gym. Of course, it's Soho so I'm sure they're doing the best with what they have but i was just really disappointed. I'd heard a lot about this gym and was really looking forward to trying it, but the whole experience from start to finish was just so disappointing. I cannot believe they get away with charging what they do for a very poor gym with a few flashy gimmicks (live d.j. / climbing wall). I have been a member of Holmes Place for many years and, of course, all gyms have their problems and we all like to moan but, overall they are streets ahead of Third Space. I don't want to write a completely negative review and, as mentioned, my experience is only based on one visit so maybe i was just unlucky. Unfortunately, the only positive thing i can think of is that it has made me really appreciate Holmes Place!! Sorry Third Space.
