I First Visited The Hong Kong On The Prince Of Wal
I first visited the Hong Kong on the Prince of Wales Rd with my parents when I was a teenager in the early 80s, and have been going back ever since. It's always offered a fantastic variety of dishes - ranging from the usual favourites to the most adventurous Dim Sum such as Chickens Feet and Ducks Tongues - although I must confess never having tried these.
There's an old fashioned idea that I recall when looking for a good Chinese restaurant - "Always go to a restaurant that's well patronised by the local Chinese community - it's a sure sign that the food is excellent". That's certainly true of the Hong Kong. On a Sunday afternoon the family atmosphere is superb - ranging from the youngest members of the family to great grand parents all enjoying the extended Dim Sum Sunday afternoon menu.
My girlfriend is vegetarian and can be a bit choosy at times, but the staff at the Hong Kong are always willing to chop and change the menu to whatever you feel like.
Last time I went, in addition to the vast menu, I was offered Sea Bass (cooked any way I liked) as well as fresh Crab and Mussels.
Also, if you fancy a late lunch without being pressurised by staff wanting to get home, this restaurant stays open all afternoon.
Just excellent!!
