This place is so bad I don't even know where to start!Arrived with my 2 small children to find we had been put 3 floors up despite being promised a low floor, had a hole just about the same size as my 1 year old daughter in the (cracked) balcony glass and huge pieces of glass next to my son's bed all over the floor but being 4am we all just wanted to get to bed so thought I would mention it all in the morning, but surprise, surprise no cot (as promised) so still had to move the kids back downstairs again where I was (with a sigh) told it would be ready soon.Soon turned out to be an hour later when we were finally given the cot 2 of the sides were broken but we were so tired by then just let it go until 3 nights later we awoke to our 1 year old screaming by our bed because she had fallen out the bottom of the ''cot''Informed the hotel but was ignored.Thought next day we would at least take advantage of being all inclusive by having a few drinks around the pool but was just settling down round the pool when there was a loud bang and then something hit my back.Look down and there's glass everywhere where some idiot has thrown/ dropped a glass off of his balcony. Both my kid's towels were covered in glass and my back was cut.It was just lucky the kids were under a sunshade and didn't get cut.after a day round the pool we realised this wasn't a one off either it happened every day at least. This you may be thinking is nothing to do with the hotel but the staff came out looked at the pool area full of glass ignored us completely when I tried to tell them what had happened and then went in and didn't even clean it up.I don't even want to think about how many people must have cut themselves.Free bar though do can drown our sorrows right?.....Wrong! There was only warm wine which tasted of what id imagine cats pee would, beer and vodka which tasted of petrol.I'm not fussed with vodka but this was something else, revolting so had to go to the real bar and spend every day, least I can get some food here I thought but after 3 days of the same for breakfast and lunch which I wouldn't feed a homeless dog we ended up eating out every night aswel. The only thing worth going all inclusive there for is the water machine (when it works) and soft drinks if you don't expect service with a smile. Then comes the music, not from the hotel from the guests which they placed in-between my mum's room and ours. They must have paid thousands for this ghetto blaster because it's louder than most clubs I've been.I may have children but I'm still not fussed about loud music,I actually quite like it as it was the only entertainment we were going to get.But bearing in mind we didn't get in til around 2am ourselves and this music didn't start til another few hours and went on until at least 7am and the beds in our room were moving and plaster fell off the Walls gives you a bit of an idea. One night I couldn't take anymore so went down to reception where I was told I had to call reception.I asked why as I'm here now, seems pointless and was just quoted the number to call so I went up the 3 flights of stairs to phone to which the same guy turned up at my room and asked what was wrong.Mind numbingly stupid!I explained about the music and was told with a shrug that ''it's 18-30s'' I will point out at this time that when I booked I was told family and children friendly but this is by no way the point.I prefer 18-30s as it's always more entertaining anyway but even all the younger lot i spoke to including my 19 year old party animal sister said it was way too my much.Anyway I pointed out to her a guide which was in my room which stated that after 1am no noise even talking on balconies was permitted.I said I'm not asking for that just for the music to be kept to at least lower than the hotel bars downstairs and stop around 3/4 That night it did for an hour. The next night and every remaining night it was back.People were cheering when they were leaving. All staff bar, reception, shop, waiters ect except the lobby barmen and lady in the dining room and 1 of the maids were unbelievably rude and hairdryer ect didn't work, banging on doors and phone calls every night aswel. These are honestly just a few points. The ace is a death trap.I worried for my children's safety and my sanity.Awful.Don't book! I wish I listened to the previous reviews but I always hear people complain on reviews and I've been away twice a year for the past 21 years and never minded anywhere so thought people were again just moaning but they were right.I will be taking my complaint further aswel.I wouldn't stay here for free!

We have just spent 2 weeks at the Hotel Diamond and thought it was quite dirty, the beds didn't even have mattress covers and the pillows smelled. The floors were quite grotty but the public I think are as much to blame for this as they let the children walk about carrying drinks and food and don't seem to be bothered with spillages. The food was ok but cold We wouldn't go back to this hotel.

I thought overall the waiters and all staff where very helpful. The room was spotless, food good. This was my fourth time staying at the hotel so that tells you I like it. Would go back anytime, I recommend the hotel.

The stay was very good and we enjoyed it well. If you are on half board and with a teenager in the room in particular the one we had it was too small for the family especially over a two week stay. Expect some drone in sound from the bar below but this soon becomes un-noticable. Obviously the language is a barrier with staff but the staff who don't speak english DO TRY to converse with you. The restaurant staff work well and help as best as possible

We might go back to sunny beach in time but think we will go for a better destination next year the .50 lev they charge you to use dirty toilettes and 2 squares of toilette roll was a joke. The night life was great but watch out for certain clubs and pubs as don't seem to want us tourists in them you are made feel very unwelcome. The beach was beautiful but we wouldn't take our kid to Bulgaria. It's not as cheap as it is made out. You have to shop around a bit to get cheep drinks. We wont be back there in a hurry

Overall Sunny Beach's Diamond Hotel was good, but to make it better I think they should brush up on customer care on reception, and improve on the evening entertainment. The hotel attracted all sorts of different typed of people including young 18-30 club hols, although we did not have any complaints from the ones that were there when we were there I can imagine it may cause problems with some families with young children. The hotel was good value for money, and sunny beach has plenty of choice of bars and restaurants with entertainment.

From reading the reviews on here i was expecting the worst from my stay at Diamond Hotel but to be honest i was pleasantly surprised. The staff were friendly and nice, the rooms were cleaned daily, the facilities were excellent and all in all it was everything we hoped for. I would definitely go back there.

“The hotel was in a great location, everything you...”

written by kwhittaker on 13/06/2007

The hotel was in a great location, everything you needed was right on your doorstep. The beach is a two minute walk away and the weather was at a good temperature as well, the first day and a half were cloudy but still warm. We also had one shower, which lasted about 2 minutes but for the rest of the week it was boiling, reaching around 31 degrees. The pool water was really cold but exactly what you needed after sunbathing for a while, once you were in you were fine. The food was not the best but you will not starve, they always have pizza and chips on, the food was very repetitive though. Some meats etc were served cold but this is Bulgarian culture and is to be expected. I don't think that this hotel is very suitable for younger children as there is no animation team etc. throughout the day or night, so this could cause a problem keeping them entertained. Overall, I think this hotel is not bad at all for it's location and cleanliness, it could be far worse. Also everything is really cheap, it cost around 20 Leva for a meal for 2 and a few drinks. This is around £6.50. There are plenty of happy hour bars, where it lasts for 4 or 5 hours. I recommend going to the restaurant Atol, which you can see the big sign from near your hotel, the staff are lovely and food is great. If you are booking any excursions I suggest that you go to Khans tent, you get a 4 course meal, a bottle of wine each and excellent entertainment, this cost around £18 each. I personally found that because everything was cheap you don't realise how much you can spend in a day and the pounds begin to mount up, this might just be me though as I do like to spend. Bulgaria, as a whole, is great and full of bars, pubs and restaurants. I would like to go back again but maybe go all inclusive next time, so that you don't worry about running out of money. You can also stay in your hotel until they stop serving and then venture out, as everything is open till around 4am.

Sunny beach as a whole needs a rethink, and a lot of the Diamond Hotel staff need refunds from the school where they learned about customer service. It is a soul-less place. Most of the facilities were shut, and you had to pay hunt the meat with the food, as there was very little in the buffet meals, which were on display for 3 hours, and some food was served cold.

The Diamond hotel and its staff were excellent, so much so that we are going back on Sept 15th after coming back in may. We booked again immediately. The hotel is situated 5 minutes walk from all the amenities - What more could you ask for on a package holiday.

written by farting15879 on 06/07/2005

On arrival our room was ready and waiting for us. It was clean, and the cleaner came every day with clean towels and bedding.
The food was quite cold, and some days, there was a better selection than others. This is normal for bulgarian restaurants.
Swimming pool was lovely and cleaned daily. All facilities were up to scratch and the exchange lady was very helpful. The receptionist was always there to lend a hand if need be, but the hotel manageress was not as helpful.
There was no evening entertainment, but the bar was usually busy, and the drinks were very cheap. There were no late opening nightclubs. 2am was the latest. But up until 2am the pubs were busy, cheap and they all had a good atmosphere.
The shops were very cheap for clothing, accessories, perfume, footwear and alcohol.
Lots to do. Banana boat, sling shot, pedlos, water park, go karts, beach buggies, mopeds.
The hotel was central and close to everything.
A GOOD TIME WAS HAD BY ALL. A HOLIDAY IS WHAT YOU MAKE IT!

“We booked up to go to Bulgaria in December after...”

written by csmith11 on 20/09/2004

We booked up to go to Bulgaria in December after hearing people ranting and raving about how good it was. Booked a 4* hotel (Diamond Hotel) as recommended due to the poor standards of accommodation over there.
Unless your German I would NOT recommend this hotel WHATSOEVER!
Upon arrival, we were dumped at the hotel door, no rep to check us in or anything. Got to the reception to find the staff not only could not speak nor understand English, but were also very unhelpful! Eventually when we got to our room, the rooms were not exactly to 4* standards, but they were clean. Thank goodness! However, the standard of the food in the hotel was absolutely shocking! Again, unless your German and eat fruit all day every day, there wasn't much to eat! Even what food was there was unrecognisable and there were no signs to let you know what you were eating. With a seafood allergy, I found this very off putting as I was afraid to try what was there just incase. After the first few days of eating cold chips and pizza, we decided to give the hotel food a miss!
However, eating out in the resort is extremely cheap, although after the both of us getting food poisoning, we didn't tend to eat much at all after that!
I can't even recommend any eating places I'm afraid as we didn't really manage to come across any. All the way to Bulgaria to eat McDonalds! Also other British people we met up with also had complaints to make about the food both in and out of their hotels, and most of them also took ill while they were there.
One good thing about the place however, was the Malina Soccer Bar, just off the main street beside the Corner Bar. They show all live football, the drink is dirt cheap and they make good pizza! If it hadn't been for this pub, I think I might have spoken to my rep to try and book an early flight home! We just couldn't find enough to do.
As 21 year olds looking for half decent nightlife, Bulgaria just wasn't the place to be! Most places, excluding the shady nightclubs closed at 2ish and even trying to find a karaoke bar proved a difficult task!
So unless you're looking for a holiday where you just want to go for a meal and home again, I would think twice about Sunny Beach.
One thing I will say is if you do decide to go, bring a fleece jacket and trousers for night time coz it is absolutely FREEZING at night! No exaggeration! And watch the Bulgarians who constantly try and rip you off and short change you!
Also don't fly with Balkan. The planes are ancient, you get a ham and cheese roll as your "in-flight meal", no in-flight entertainment and very very cramped! The toilets also leave a lot to be desired!
Have a nice time!

Didn’t stay in the Diamond Hotel but totally agree with every comment about Sunny Beach. The food was terrible everywhere, got short changed many times and thought that the Balkan Holiday planes were filthy, ancient. My husband and I, both in our twenties, also lived on McDonalds for two weeks and could not wait to get back home. The only good thing was the price of the beer.

You guys I guess had very tied budget !!! As it seems that you hadnt really gone to the many restaurants around sunny beach which cater for different types of tastes .Too bad for you
well yeah the planes are crazy old but thats what you get when you buy a packaged holiday ,always its better to arrange your own transport and hotel choice rather than just waiting for some travel agent to give you what she thinks its best for you
There are plenty to do in the resort of sunny beach eg water sports ,nightlife its awesome and i don't even know where you went clubbing maybe the retires home
well you guys are disappointing that you wasted your time in bulgaria and not exploring it.
