Good location, although up a hill, I am 60 and overweight and I managed it ok, in additon there are cheap taxis.
Reception deal with any problem you can raise and in three visits I havent raised more than one, broken telly repaired within five minutes.
Pool bar, very good food, friendly environment, great pool bar staff and cleaners are special, especially singing Carmel.
Very regular bedding changes and towels, apartment cleaned most days.
Booking taxis absolute breeze for staff.
If XL had not gone bust I would be back there now instead of going to the algarve, best news is I transferred my cancelled holiday to April next year to Plaza Palmeras without any problems whatsoever, cant wait to get back there.

We liked these apartments but there is a lot of talk about the long steep hill, let me tell you, even our two kids didn't moan about the hill. They are brilliantly placed in the middle of the strip and the walk up is only a problem if it's boiling hot, certainly not a problem after a few drinks.

We went early in the season and there was very little activity in the bar, even though it was Easter week, I presume as it gets busier the entertainment starts up, this wasn't a problem for us as there is lots to do in the resort.

Plaza Palmeras was clean, the staff were polite and if you have kids it's very self contained. The internet is very expensive in the apartments, so make your kids wait to use the ones on the strip, as they are much cheaper.

The staff at the Playa Palmeras apartments in Lanzarote were very friendly, and for two star accommodation, you get what you pay for. We had to hire a toaster, and there was no oven (hob only). Overall though, it was good value for money. The sunset rep was a great laugh, and she really involved herself with the residents. I would recommend Ricks bar for a good night out. The restaurant on top of Netto (on the hill) was good value, and we ate here a couple of times.

Overall, we really enjoyed our holiday in Lanzarote. My partner really enjoyed scuba diving, which was reasonably priced. I shopped until I dropped on the cloudier days, and now I have an impressive collection of Gucci (ish) bags. Our two year old had plenty to do too. The weather was good. It is a lot cheaper than Fuerteventura, which we visited 4 months earlier.

Me & my friend loved these Puerto del Carmen, Plaza Palmeras appartments. They were clean & bright. An army of cleaners worked quietly during the day sweeping & polishing. Position great, about a 5 min walk to main strip, but no noise heard. There is a small supermarket & residents get 7% off. A lot of things were cheaper than Netto which is down the road. Staff helpful & friendly. Internet facilities. 1 euro per 10 mins. Staff don't allow noise late at night. Not a place for young groups of people but great for couples & families. Peurto Del Carmen brilliant. Recommend La Brasiere Steak bar for the best ever fillet steak. Always busy as so good. I didn't find Lanzarote dear as has been said in a review. I've been to all Canaries & think Lanzarote the best. Will deffinately go back.

Puerto del Carmen, Plaza Palmeras - The holiday as a whole was very expensive. Been to Tenerife and never realised how expensive Lanzarote would be. Save loads to be able to enjoy it. Must go to American Indian, La Brasa, Columbus Bar, Tex Mex and Pinnochios, excellent food and service.

Puerto del Carmen, Plaza Palmeras - This was my second stay at these apartments in the space of 6 weeks. Still think it is good value and fairly well placed for the front. Staff are helpful and attend to all requests quickly. Security is on hand from midnight to 0800hrs.

Stayed at Plaza Palmeras in April this year and there were only about a dozen or so people staying in the accommodation so we got our apartment cleaned every day. While the accommodation was very basic you do get what you pay for so if you are looking for something upmarket pay the money and go elsewhere. That said for an extra week which cost only 600 pounds what else can you expect. Never tried any of the food on offer.

I stayed at the Plaza Palmeras over New Year. The location is great as it's a 10 min walk onto the main strip. As for the apartments they were very basic, we only saw a cleaner 2 days out of the 7 we were their. The food was reasonably priced but wasn't up to much (you were paying the same on the main strip for better quality and quantity. the price of drinks was ok. As we were a group of young people I wouldn't recommend these apartments as it's more directed at family holidays. So as we paid over £450 per person and had the option of a villa for £500 it would be wiser spending the other £50 or find different apartments.

“The Plaza Palmeras complex was good. All apartments...”

★★★★☆

written by Looneylee on 18/09/2004

The Plaza Palmeras complex was good. All apartments surround the pool, so you are literally a few steps away. Although your apartment remains reasonably private as there are trees planted between the pool and the apartments to give some privacy. The pool is a good size with a separate pool for kids. Pool bar is very cheap for food, with happy hour every day. The apartments were cleaned most days very thoroughly. All staff were quite friendly. The apartments themselves aren't very well equipped. You have to hire toasters/kettles/fans etc if you need these. We went without. There is a fridge and a couple of electric rings. The location of the apartments is pretty good, about a 10 min walk downhill to the main strip and the beach. The resort itself was nice. Not too busy at this time of year. Plenty of restaurants and bars to choose from and about half an hour walk to the Old Town where the port is.
