I went in to have a browse and the staff wouldn't leave me in peace!! The sales assistants were friendly and polite, but they swarm around you like a load of cats around an injured bird. I know they're just doing their job, but it's really off putting. The manager (or at least I think she was) on the other hand was rather rude and seemed generally cold and unfriendly. I walked out without buying a thing and will not be coming back. I would recommend Office over them any day.

I purchased a pair of boots from a schuh store they cost 80 pounds after a month of very little wear I was out and it rained and one boot leaked. i returned to the shop the following day and the staff member was totally unhelpful, she looked at the boots and said as there was no split in the boot it was not a manafacturing fualt and I should NOT wear these boots out in the rain she would not change them, refund my money, phone customer services for me she would not even send them back on my behalf. I have never met such an unhelpful staff member, she said the staff were trained to decide if a product was fualty. I returned home and my husband phoned schch customer services and they wanted them returned for testing so they were posted back to them, this time the staff member on the phone was as helpful as he was allowed to be saying they had to be returned for examination. The boots were fualty and they sent me another pair for which i am pleased, but after only 4 weeks of wear I do not think I should have had the responsibility of returning them this should have been dealt with in the store and replacement/ refund offered it was perfectly obvious they had hardly been worn Schuh need to review there after sales service and train the staff to be more helpfull. Thank you S

Bought a pair of Vans shoes, worn them twice and they have worn through near the toe. Posted them back at my cost (£4.50) and they have been returned in a tatty box with a curt note from 'customer services' basically saying tough. I won't be shopping there again. At the very least they could have been courteous enough to include a voucher for £5 off a purchase to cover the postage.

Returning goods to Schuh is the most unpleasant experience. Altough Ugg boots have a year guarantee on them the staff was not even prepared to listern to my complaint. The conversation ended with me leaving the store without an exchange or refund and asking them to put them in the bin then because they are no use to me.

Bought a pair of Caterpiller boots online costing £80. They arrived quickly - no complaints there - and seemed to be just what I was looking for: a sturdy pair I could wear pretty much everyday, come wind, rain, or shine, when walking the dog. First time I went out along the wet riverbank, though, it was pretty obvious there was a problem with the leather uppers: they absorbed the water and I ended up with wet feet. I duly posted my review on the Schuh site pointing it out and to deter others from making the same mistake as me. A couple of months later I checked back on Schuh's site to see if others had experienced the same problem. Guess what? My review wasn't there, just four saying how marvellous these boots were. I wasn't impressed and took this matter up with Schuh. They insisted that they did not discriminate between reviews but that mine was apparently "not relevant". After further email correspondence I was also told these boots are, apparently, "not made to withstand wet conditions"- which makes them pretty much useless in my book - and which, of course, you would never know if buying online from Schuh's site. In other words, the so-called reviews of products on the Schuh site are not to be trusted at all.

The same thing happened to me, I tried to post a review to say I was not happy with my purchase and it was posted on the website.

If they were the suede-type Caterpillar boots, then I would have to agree with Schuh - you should never wear suede, or suede-effect shoes in the rain, as it damages the fabric. If you wanted all-weather footwear, either go for wellies or a good regular leather boot?

Service in the store was fine, the quality of the boots that I purchased was fine, the problem came when I queried the sale price. I bought the boots in the sale at £69.99, checked them on the website a few days later and saw that the sale price was different and that the rrp was different. Simple enough query really, didn't mind so much if the price had been further reduced after my purchase but it didn't explain why the rrp was incorrect so I started querying this with the online customer service. Absolute rubbish, turned a simple enquiry into a full blown complaint and employs customer service advisors who clearly have no understanding of trade laws whatsoever. They didn't mis-quote anything from say, the sale of goods act, they just flat ignored every point I made about it. Ignorant, flawed, paltry customer service, decent enough products, just hope that you don't have a problem with anything you buy and need to contact them.

I've bought my last 5 pairs of trainers from this shoe shop, and I never had a problem. Until now! I recently bought a pair of Merrell's in leather at the Oxford Street branch in London. They had to be ordered in, as the pair in the store were faulty (material split from sole).
I collected the shoes a week later, and after only a week they showed a small split in the material. I returned them to Schuh straight away, only to be told by the assistant manager that she had "never seen that before", and it could not be a fault of the material i.e. I had damaged them!
I asked to speak to the manager, and I was told he was too busy.
I called customer services, and I was told to send the trainers back for them to assess. As I have no others to wear in the meantime, this wasn't possible.
Really disappointed with Schuh's after-sales care, as until now I'd had nothing but good things to say about them.

I waited for a long time to see the Schuh store manager in Market Street, Manchester and was told after only three months that due to wear and tear that my faulty trainers could not be replaced. He blamed canvas shoes generally and so I can only deduce in future I will buy well made good quality leather shoes from a proper shoe specialist. 35 pounds for three months occasional wear is not acceptable.

What was wrong with the shoes if you don't mind me asking? And how long did you have them for?
